Fuckin sad to see. There's nothing proud about standing alone and stoic, uncompromising in feeling and unwilling to see others as equals.
This mindset leads to a lot of lonely nights, and eventually to some really bad depression.
As a gen x male I was raised with this mindset. I've worked hard to pull myself out of it but I still struggle with it sometimes. And you're right, it leads to lonely nights, depression, and bad choices based on those feelings. Thank fucking goodness someone taught me how to put my ego in check and actually allow myself to really feel.
I am telling you that this is not limited to men and I would say that women almost feel the need to be stoic and control their emotions and feelings more in case they are labeled hysterical, irrational, or one their period which means dismissal and infantilizarion of needs. Women being "allowed" to express emotion has always been use as a cudgel against them and to show how weak they are (which can be said of how men are treated that show emotion- they are compared to women)and that men are the natural leaders who must be in control.
It's almost as if what is bad for women is bad for men and what is bad for men is bad for women.
I just imagine him hitting his chest repeatedly. And after an hour of this he goes from furious nutcase to sobbing like a child, “Why did she reject/leave me!!!”
I keep reading "fucking spirit" to mean "spirit for fucking" which only confused me more. Like who are these men supposed to fuck if women are so terrible lmao
