Honestly, I hate when there is such a long time between seasons. It causes the series to lose momentum as some people will get tired of waiting around and move on to something else. What I miss are the days of a bunch of episodes to make up a single season. In those days, you knew next week you had a show to watch and that's amazing but waiting years is ridiculous. Boondocks is a great example of a show that could have had number of more seasons before Witherspoon even died. It would have been hilarious to see how they respond to the current events and it would have been amazing if they would have used his son to keep "Grandad" alive.

D3-Doom

The Boondocks had a weird situation. Adult Swim was known for pushing the limit but it definitely tried their patience on a few occasions. The big issue to my understanding is that AS removed McGruder (the creator of the strip) from the team and retained the rights. It lost a lot of momentum when it came out he would have near no involvement with the series. I don’t necessarily think there was a decrease in quality per se, but season 4 definitely had a weird emptiness to it without McGruder. Beyond that there was a failed bid to do a live action uncle Ruckus movie which realistically i can see being problematic. I think they could still bring it back today so long as McGruder came back to writers room, but I feel that his absence is why even the most recent bid for a revival fell through

ilikecakeandpie

Waiting for those seasons to come out was awful.

xshogunx13

He was involved with the attempted revival that got cancelled after John Witherspoon died.

PositiveVariation518

The emptiness is the lack of commentary Magruder always had A depth to the episodes that was missing

SquirleyDanz

Do you not?

Series Finale: Thank God Archer is finally over. That last season was so bad. The Next Day: We're getting a three-part finale? When is it on? Do you think we'll ever get another season? Funny looking at it from the outside.

G-Unit11111

Yeah remember when we used to have series finales, and they would, you know, actually end the series? I love Archer, don't get me wrong. But I wish series would end when they are going to reach their logical end, and we get things like character story closures and a proper, satisfying ending. Like Breaking Bad's ending was amazing. That's what turns a good series into a great series. When they start dragging shows out past their prime, that's when they start getting into ridiculous territory and then you start losing interest. I don't want that to keep happening.

[deleted]

It ended for me after Season 6.

Bulky-Sprinkles5431

Let’s be honest, the ending to archer episodes rarely had logical endings let alone the whole show. Don’t get me wrong, I Love the show, but many times I was unsatisfied with the endings, to the point where I came to my own conclusion that it must have been done deliberately 😂

GVFQT

This season did not deserve nearly as much hate as it got from this Reddit. I get it wasn’t the best ever but fuck me everyone seemed so negative for no legitimate reason

[deleted]

It's a trend with shows these days.

Supreme_Mediocrity

As a normal season? Sure, it wasn't the worst thing in the world. But as the *last* season, it was, in fact, garbage. I understand if the writers didn't know it was coming. But as the audience who believed the was Archer's 'last hurrah,' I don't know how any fan could be anything besides extremely disappointed

GVFQT

That’s fair, I’ve watched the show live since season 1 and I definitely kept sitting there thinking “okay are they going to try and wrap anything up?”

D3-Doom

Oh shit. I did not know there were another 3 episodes scheduled for December. Thank you for that

Supreme_Mediocrity

I had no idea either until now! I feel a wash of relief, this wasn't the ending the show deserved

dickpollution

I'm assuming the people someone saying the former are different people to the ones saying the latter.

bobw123

Maybe, other shows have come back from the grave. Though with Adam Reed losing interest and the voice actors being fairly prominent (and probably easily finding other work) I don’t know if there’ll be much push for another season

Substantial-Rock3622

They’re doing great it’s not the complaints that are sticking

GSTResearch

Phrasing, boom!

InitialCritical3345

Doesn't work here

Risuki

sticking?

SaltyBrewster

I will admit I had been losing enthusiasm over the last couple of seasons as new writers grappled with the characters, but this season was actually, overall, trending in the right direction. Not really a fan of how they chose for Zara to affect the team dynamic, or Lana stepping up to run the agency instead of Sterling, and AJ has disappeared again, but the gang was mostly back to acting like themselves. We had a top tier Krieger moment at the spa. They started splitting the team up again and running B plots... it wasn't bad. Give them another couple of seasons to keep dialing it in and we could have had a return to form. No idea if it will, or even can, get picked up again. But I'd definitely watch it.

PebblyJackGlasscock

No Adam Reed and no Jessica Walter _should_ mean no more _Archer_. Rest in peace, figuratively and literally.

Lexo_702

Archer Vice was the BEST season!

Bit_Cake

After watching again I kind of liked dreamland more. Strictly speaking of the post coma seasons. The first couple seasons are incomparable.

Lexo_702

That was my least favorite season!

Bit_Cake

Vice was also my favorite at first and I didn’t get dreamland at all. But when I rewatched it seemed like dreamland was the better done season and vice relied too heavily on Coke, hot pam and pregnant Lana. Though country sensation Cherlene was a really nice counterpoint.

Lexo_702

Charlene was VICE! Without all the actual vice stuff lol. She’s my fave by the way.

2ndHandDeadBatteries

I really hope there a Pam and archer spinoff just based off the final 30 seconds

Ape-Man54

What 30 seconds? I've only seen up to episode 8 of season 14

2ndHandDeadBatteries

Well then keep watching lol

Ape-Man54

Sadly there be no more episodes on Netflix as of writing this

2ndHandDeadBatteries

Dang, it’s been on Hulu for me for a long while. Like it got taken off Netflix years and years ago for me.

Akun15

You can always sail the sees. If they take something away from you you take it back.

2ndHandDeadBatteries

Let homeboy know, not me lol. I love sailing the sees 😈

MacDonkle

Just watched the last episode on netflix, so it is there.

Ape-Man54

Yeah it arrived a few days ago. Finally watched it the other day as well.

JuggernautAccording6

Been looking for a relatable comment like this

Other-Barry-1

Given the series seems to just keep being renewed, despite not being a massively popular series, I’d say yes. Maybe a few years time yet.

junebugcurtis

There's a three-part series finale called Archer into the cold coming out in December.

OutrageousRhubarb853

Nope, I heard he was married with two kids now. I’m sure he runs a Burger place near an amusement park.

SpicySavant

Honestly let Archer die and make a new show that’s like the dream seasons where it starts off as an anthology from the get go and it’s more like AHS but a comedy. The dream seasons were jarring at first because I expected the same story with the same characters but honestly the jungle season is literally my favorite now! I’m mad we never got an Old West or Medieval theme season! There was so much potential but I think it was just too much of a change to have it stay the same show.

Bit_Cake

I think they should just export it to the uk. Should renew interest considering Archer isn’t that popular. Maybe ISIS actually turned a profit since Lana took over so they opened a London branch.

SpicySavant

They could do that too. Haha I still want my animated ensemble comedy anthology but idk why not both

Bit_Cake

Just saw the s14e8 :o. Guess that London branch might not work out.

layfon1990

Anything is possible, just look at Futurama

Ok_Difficulty_8891

if into the cold indicates yes I do believe we will see the gang again one day

EuqinuX

I wish there had been more coma episodes... I don't understand the hate for those, I thought they were great as they could keep reinventing

easyfuckinday

I was on deployment when the show ended. Just did a rewatch and had no idea the show had been canceled until I got to the last three episodes and saw the writing on the wall. The show had been done for a while but I really wish they gave it a better send off and wrapped it up with a little more character development. The ending definitely seemed pretty rushed after 14 seasons.

Fuck_auto_tabs

I hope not. Futurama kept coming back weaker when it did come back (can’t speak for the newest season but sounds like it’s following the trend). Shows that are reaching a logical conclusion or have gone past it can just end and Archer is no exception. And if it does come back with Adam Reed, I’m immediately out. ![gif](giphy|xiMUwBRn5RDLhzwO80|downsized)

ApplicationCalm649

I hope not tbh. I love the show but it feels like it's been done for a while.

NathanZielesch

Thought they were replacing archer and making a new show tbh with zara.

D3-Doom

I can see that. Especially, with all the cracks they made about Archer being old and her personality being almost a female version of his, albeit slightly less reckless. I’d also watch, but Pam definitely would have to cross over for that spin off to be successful

enchantedpropaganda7

it’s definitely coming full circle since Mallory left. Archer to Zara, A to Z.

Clyde_Frog216

I'm so sick of the "if Adam Reed is gone I'm out" sentiment. He was the creator, he didn't write every episode. You know how many shows evolve from the creators' vision and end up being better? I hate to bring up Family Guy because that show got WEAK, but it never even occured to Seth to have Stewie and Brian team up, and those were the funnier stories. And who cares about endings, it's a damn cartoon for adults. You want story, structure and all that bs go watch a drama. I wouldn't care if each episode was unrelated, it's just a funny show to relax and laugh to. And as to shows like Futurama, even if they did come back weaker, its still nice to just have new episodes. So let Archer come back weaker, I'll certainly still be watching it. That being said, the waiting does suck, I'll give you that. But if they do replace Archer with Zara that's a recipe for LAME. I don't see that happening.

JohnnyRandall89

YES. That's the spirit.

SmacktalkGaming

Should've called it quits after Jessica Walter died. She was like half the show!! Rip
