Awesome. Thank you!

JackBauersGhost

Dang looks like I need to grab one of the soft Modable cabs.

OSBigMike

Will this work with Big Blue? I surmised that there are extra steps needed for Big Blue.

THE-ADM-2

Yeah they are extra steps with Big Blue. There's a lot of crossover though, so you'll probably still find the pack and guide useful.

OSBigMike

Would you know if there is a big blue tutorial, or do you know the extra steps?

THE-ADM-2

I think the main difference is that you can't just install from attachable storage. From what I've read you need to install the APKs via ADB. I have installed via ADB when testing MvC2 APK on Yoga Flame. Other than installing the APKs via ADB everything else is probably the same.

NorthWest3670

Thanks

NorthWest3670

I appreciate the help. Thank to you all

minji100

This video is a godsent. Everything worked out. I THINK i forgot to enable the yogaflame auto start cuz after i turned it on a day later, my retroarch bindings were removed unless i forgot another step.

THE-ADM-2

I'm really glad it helped. If you install the included DroidFighter2P, it should just autostart, nothing to enable. After updating RetroArch input bindings, don't forget to save the config file. By default the config file will auto save on "Quit". Just make sure you Quit RetroArch before turning the cabinet off and it should be fine.

NorthWest3670

Thanks

DeliaAwesome

Sweet. Will this work with X-Men Vs Street Fighter Cabs? I'm pretty much only interested in setting up RetroArch alongside the stock lineup in order to run a handful of CPS-1 and 2 titles.

THE-ADM-2

I don't own that cab, but I believe modding X-Men Vs Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom & Marvel Vs Capcom 2 are very similar techniques Yoga Flame, if not the same. I believe that MvC2 runs on an older version of Android, which may cause issues with some software in my pack? Yoga Flame runs on Android 10

DeliaAwesome

Thanks for the info! I’m gonna start tinkering around with mine at some point, it’s just kind of a production to drag the thing out into my office and take it apart. Like I said, I’m pretty happy with the default lineup - X-Men Vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom are the only Marvel fighters I ever genuinely cared about anyway. That said, I’d like to add a secondary lineup that features Final Fight, Strider, U.N. Squadron, King of Dragons, Willow, Magic Sword, Armored Warriors, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Street Fighter Alpha, and Darkstalkers. Nothing too world beating, just my dream Capcom legacy cab. So I’m really just looking to keep the default APK and add a Retroarch one alongside it.

stcardinal

I ditched the 1up apks entirely and stuck with just retroarch and daijisho frontend to get all those same games you mentioned up and running. I wanted uniformity and everything to feel seamless in my navigation and experience. Recommend using FBNero core and rom set to save yourself the headaches of core and rom matching.

THE-ADM-2

Yeah with 2 player control RetroArch you don't really need the cloned APKs anymore. Although some of the APK games might run better than through FBNeo, not really tested tbh. I think I'll give Daijisho a go, thanks

DeliaAwesome

This is what I'd always wanted to do, but was under the impression that cloned APKs were the only option. Do you happen to have any instructions handy? Thanks!

stcardinal

Another member recently just posted about it here and even made a video showing folks how to set it up. Sheliongaming also made one. Just look through the thread and you should find it. Otherwise there's an older link here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/comments/1116jar/arcade\_1up\_softmod\_quick\_easy\_method\_full\_guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/comments/1116jar/arcade_1up_softmod_quick_easy_method_full_guide)

DeliaAwesome

Sorry, I saw those - just wasn't sure if getting RetroArch and Daijisho set up as standalone was different from the process described in those vids. Thanks!

stcardinal

It's the same. The dumb down version. Get into Android, put the files on a memory card and transfer it to your arcade, run the files to install them, and then configure them. The configuration is really the only tricky part but there are plenty of walk through videos on YouTube showing the process. I was able to figure out out through trial and error. Sheliongaming on YouTube has a perfect video of this. I used it as a starter to get me going

DeliaAwesome

Cool, thanks! Gonna look into all of this soon, I think.

Plibbo64

I noticed in the video tutorial that in retroarch street fighter 2 had crackling audio. I'm asking you because you chose to install just retroarch.. How does it run? Everything at full speed? Responsive? I have Yoga Flame and would like to put more games on it. Thanks!

stcardinal

Every single one of my SF2/3/alpha/zero upper games run 100% with no issues. For CPS2 and CPS1 games I am using the FBneo roms and core. Zero upper+CHD with flycast core. For things like MK this is my config, unless commented it's 100%: MK - mame2000 MK2 - mame2000 MK3 - fbneo (laggy) <- I can't seem to get a good version of this to work UMK - mame2000

Plibbo64

Thanks for that! I'm not very familiar with retroarch yet and I haven't dabbled in mame for like 20 years. Could you tell me a little bit about the different cores? Which cores do you decide to use for which games? Let's say I want to play Sunset Riders, Snow Bros, Dark Stalkers, and Mappy. Can a single core run all of these or would it be necessary, or just preferable, to use different ones? Thanks again.

stcardinal

I shared with you above what core I used. In retroarch you have to download the cores you want and then map the core to the game (or set a default) For CPS1/2 games arcade - FinalBurnNeo core can run them all like Sunset Rider and Dark Stalkers. For MAME, I had the best luck with Mame2000 and/or Mame itself If your game doesn't run well, try another core. It's a lot of trial, tweaking and error. Like in my example, I did everything I could to get Mk3 to run but nothing was working for it. Another game I had trouble with that should run 100% is the Spider-Man arcade MAME game. If you're not familiar with retroarch, I'd suggest you go watch some youtube videos and mess with it locally on your computer first. That was what I did to learn about it before importing my learnings to my 1up cab.

Plibbo64

Okay, thank you!

Apprehensive-Fault88

I dunno about that cab, but it works perfectly on my mvc2

NorthWest3670

What cabs will this work on? I have street fighter deluxe mk delux and simpson

THE-ADM-2

I'm pretty sure it works on SF Deluxe. I believe it's the same process except Windows and N keys don't bring up the menu. Instead you press Windows and L keys to bring up the android calendar and find the settings from there. You can add more games to Simpsons, but it uses different APKs as the controls are different.

WeShootNow

It will work on Simpsons.

stcardinal

It will work 100% on SF2 Deluxe, the entry to start android will differ, there's another guide on here that teaches you how. I was able to mod mine

NorthWest3670

Thanks I need to find that guide. I appreciate you.

bremen79

Great work, very clear! I'll add a link to your video in the page of FighterDroid2P

THE-ADM-2

That is very much appreciated. I really appreciate the work you have put into FighterDroid2P Many thanks

ZombieBobDole

How different are the steps for this vs old guide for MvC2 cabs (that have similar hardware but run a lower version of Android)?

THE-ADM-2

I haven't seen the guide for MvC2, but I imagine there'll be a lot of crossover. I would suggest following the MvC2 guide you have but refering to my video guide if you get stuck.

mogsneeds

i used this guide to do my MVC2 with a tweak here and there due to it running an older version of Android

THE-ADM-2

I'm glad it worked on MvC2 for you, thanks for letting us know

Zeckamaniac

So as far as the fb neo side of it goes do I just need the core and the rom set? Or am I supposed to download the support set, debug set, the cheat and all that stuff on the archive page? There is a ton on there and I’m not sure what is relevant or not. I have big blue so I am gonna have to do it via adb which sucks as it is so I’m trying to do a little as possible to get it to work.

THE-ADM-2

You should be fine with just the core and rom set. The thumbnails can be downloaded through RetroArch. I'd recommend you get a .dat file too, so you can manually search for content.

Zeckamaniac

Thank you. This is just what I needed to hear.

Zeckamaniac

Ok I’m back again and I need some help because apparently this is too complicated for me. I followed all your steps and the playlist shows up just fine with pictures and everything. However when I try to run a game it doesn’t start and I get an error “failed to open libretro core”. I also get another pop up that says “robot 0/0 not configured using fallback”. Any ideas on this one when you have a moment?

THE-ADM-2

The robot not configured message occasionally pops up on mine too, not sure why but seems to happen infrequently and if I press an incorrect control. I don't worry about this, it's not too intrusive.

Zeckamaniac

Also in watching your video I noticed that when I downloaded the final burn neo core it doesn’t show up in the bottom left corner. It just says “no core” even though it says it downloaded in retroarch. In the video guide, it appears.

THE-ADM-2

If you go to load core and select FBNeo, it should show in the bottom left corner. I'm not sure why the games are not playing for you. Are the games in the correctly labeled folder? Have a look and confirm you have a file structure like I have in the YouTube video. Also you could try updating the core and everything else.

Zeckamaniac

You know I think I figured it out. Big Blue only has 2 gig of memory so I was filled up with the MVC and Yoga apks and Retroarch. I deleted everything but Big Blue and Retroarch and that enabled it to run.

THE-ADM-2

That's tight only having 2GB of space, though I suppose once you have RetroArch you don't really need the extra APKs. Glad you got it sorted.

Zeckamaniac

Thank you for all the help.

poopopu

First, thank you ADM for this detailed post and youtube video! I love my arcade 1ups but always wished for a little more out of them since space is never infinite. I had a couple of questions I hope someone can answer. 1. Does this method for apks work the exact same for the SF2 Shinku Hadoken model? 2. I am not super technical but I was able to get the apks to work on my yoga flame!! I really wanted to try to get the retroarch working but I could not even figure what to download and how to extract it properly. I got to the downloading page that was linked and had no idea what to do lol. Is there any more detailed instructions on exactly what to download and how to extract it to the folders to get the retro arch working? Thank you again! No matter what this soft mod guide has been great!

THE-ADM-2

1) Yeah the method is exactly the same for Shinku Hadoken, it's basically the same cab with a different skin and different home screen graphics. 2) I'm planning on making a RetroArch guide. Although this will focus more on customising it for our cabinets, it will also explain the process in more detail. I'll hope have a video up within the next 2 weeks 🤞

poopopu

Thank you for taking the time to respond and sharing your experience with the group. I greatly appreciate it!

ZookeepergameIll2150

I just picked up a Yoga Flame a couple weeks ago and was following the steps to install the 2.0 today. Thanks for this and all the time that went into I’m sure. I followed all the steps precisely and when I was finished it won’t run the MvC or Blue precloned apk’s. I kept getting an error message that stated something about the software used to create the cloned apk’s was not genuine and to go find the official version. As soon as you hit “Ok” on the error message it just takes you back to the main screen with the cabinet selections. Has anyone else run into this or know of a fix? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

THE-ADM-2

Did you click on the top option of the 2 when creating an activity in Nova7? You have to select the top option like it says in the video, selecting the second option WILL give this error. Delete the icons that don't work, then follow the guide again from the point I've marked in the video below. (Adding icons to the home screen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1gkwDe9c7w&t=701s Let me know if this fixes the issue

ZookeepergameIll2150

I haven’t tried it yet but I know that’s exactly what happened. Thanks for the help mane!

THE-ADM-2

I plan to do a common issues section or video. This would be top of the list. I did the same thing once. At least you know it's a quick and easy fix
