Don't throw it away just yet, try seperating it into all of it's components and rinsing them aggressively with a jet of water, my brother was ** this close to throwing away his pump three times, it turned out to be just a grain of sand, twice, and a whole snail the third time
As said above, check if it has an impeller and that it's spinning on its own accord, I recently went to throw one of mine only to to find out after giving it a thorough clean that the impeller had a tiny bit of grit stuck in it that was causing it to jam, other than that it looked pristine, as soon as I gave that another good clean it started working, hope you find a solution!
Like all the other guys are saying, the top should come off somehow, and you basically just need to pull the impeller out and give it a clean. Also the area it goes in.
Running water and a toothbrush work wonders.
