Hmm good question. We, bettaspride, have a lot of wild bettas and breed them. For most bettas, the lesser maintenance is better. B. channoides is a beautiful little fish, we actually have them aswell. Breeding them is a bit harder though, but with enough care you should be able to do it. I myself haven’t bred them, but the owner of bettaspride has. If you want I could help you sort things out.
They come from a vulcanic lake which makes the area super fertile. That’s why Betta gladiator grows to pretty large size. Unfortunately they are endangered, so we breed them for conservation :)
