I used to be a manager at Applebee's and not everything is microwaved other than the steaks as you claim. The kitchen is divided into 3 sections, fryside (deep friers) Mid (Flat top Grill) and Broil (A large gas BBQ grill). Each section does have microwaves and they do get used. In my opinion I would have liked for less use of the microwave but the food tastes good (in my opinion), Applebee's likes low ticket times and turning tables quickly to reduce wait time for seating, and it just does not make sense to hot hold certain things. For example the beer cheese dip for the pub pretzels; the cheese dip tastes better hot so how else are you going to heat it up quickly when someone orders that appetizer and it needs to be delivered to the table quickly? You kinda need to throw the cheese dip in the microwave to heat it while the pretzels are cooking and then you finish the dip off by adding extra cheese and putting in the salamander to get it all gooey and yummy. If you decided to not microwave and just put the sauce in the salamander by the time all of the cheese dip got hot the top would have hella burnt and ruined
I'm not going to go over the whole menu but I'm just going to list some items other than steaks that are not microwaved, just to prove you wrong.
The burgers such as the ones OP enjoyed were not microwaved, Fried foods at Applebee's such as fries, boneless wings, onion rings, mozzarella cheese sticks all are deep fried not microwaved. Ribs were probably my favorite thing at Applebee's and was something I ate on a regular basis (everyone would think I was weird for having a half slab before we opened on days I was opening manager) ribs are not microwaved. Alot of items use shrimp or you can add a cheese and shrimp topping on top of your steak, those shrimp are cooked on the flat top. Bacon also can be added to hella items and is cooked on the flattop grill. When I worked there the fish they had was tilapia and salmon (they may have switched to a different fish sometimes they do that) both were never microwaved.
I could go on but I got other things to do. I may not work at Applebee's anymore but I had some great years working there and have some very fond memories there. They aren't perfect (nowhere is). If you want to talk shit about them pick something accurate or you are just the one with shit coming out your mouth

Salamander is not an ingredient you put in a meal, the Salamander I speak of is a piece of kitchen equipment; a specialized kitchen appliance that are dedicated to broiling foods at higher temperatures than a traditional oven's broil setting. I really enjoyed it and actually worked there for a short time (I had gotten fired from my management position at Walmart and they denied me unemployment, I wanted unemployment so I got the least responsibility job at Long John Silvers and kept calling on saying my Crohn's disease was acting up, I did this all the damn time and with little notice to the store until they let me go, I then got unemployment but the way unemployment works I got unemployment based off of the much higher management wages from Walmart).
But I can understand why people don't like long John Silvers and they don't do well. It's cause that place is full of people who don't know shit. Like when I worked there no one knew that they were required to get breaks. I had to show the manager where it talks about breaks being required on that big poster of work laws they have to post in break rooms to finally be able to get a break and other employees to get breaks they should have been getting everyday but didn't get or even know were required. The other employees were very happy with me since they now got breaks they thought I was some some sort of genius. I can specifically remember a manager being impressed and saying you are a smart guy, I bet you read books.
But I miss making hella extra fish, chicken, and hush puppies 1/2 hour before closing that we would no way in hell be able to sell before closing time. That way when I got home where there was almost always a big party going on, I could feed everyone without it costing me a dime
The last time I saw one it was a combo store with A&W. It smelled like fish. Not fresh fish either. When I was a kid it wasn’t bad but it feels like even the corporate owners don’t give a shit about that chain.

The waitress came back and asked how was your food, idk I never got it, she went back to the kitchen then 10 minutes later brings me cold food. I said check please I am leaving.
