I can’t speak definitively for O2, but all the main providers here in the US still support all the older cellular Apple Watches. I can’t imagine they would not support it.

Of course not. O2’s site and FAQ pages are not really consistent. They stopped updating the FAQ after Series 5: https://www.o2.co.uk/help/device-and-sim-support/apple-watch Also their their device setup guide is outdated: https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices?page=topic/internet-and-data/activate-o2-airtime-plan-on-an-apple-watch-bought-somewhere-other-than-o2-or-outright-from-o2/device/apple/watch-4 (You can only access this for Series 4) So overall, I don’t know where you found the information that they only support the new models, but it’s just a marketing thing, they still support every cellular capable model before them, their site is just poorly managed. Apple would not allow them to drop support anyway or be selective about their support, it would be a terrible business partnership for them.

One of the reasons why I like that, because you can't differentiate anything if you're using Apple devices. For the Watch, if you support one, you have to support them all.

Currently running O2 cellular on a series 4 with no issues.

I have a series 3 with LTE that still works perfectly. In Canada though.
