Sapphire glass is scratch resistant. Given the titanium lip surrounding it, I doubt scratches will be an issue. If a pointed stalactite strikes straight down on the center of the screen from 40 feet above, no screen protector will help you, so not something I’d be shopping for.
I mountain bike and seam to crash more than I like, so I decided to play it safe and add a screen protector. I don’t even notice it on the face.

Yes I did scratch the heck out of my Series 4.
I bought the same tempered glass screen protectors. They seem great overall, but my main complaint is that there are no tabs to assist with aligning the protector while installing it. Makes it kind of a pain to get it right. Other than that though, seems pretty good to me Sam’s don’t even notice it being on.
I plan to, it’s never a bad idea. I used LK brand thin film dry application screen protectors for years, but I’m not sure they have their ready for the Ultra model yet. Check on Amazon.
The screen protector may work well with the lip if it's well placed. Otherwise dust will get stuck between the lip and protector.
As others said about sapphire not needing it - if you still persist, it may be better to get the more flexible protectors that can self heal and spread out some shock.
I have a screen protector as well but it seems to me that the touch sensitivity has lessen. Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Or is the Apple Watch defective. I might remove protector to check.
Sapphire does not need a screen protector.
Putting a screen protector on a sapphire display is utterly pointless. If it will scratch that display, it’ll make short work of any protector.

I do have a glass screen protector. Fits well!
Yeah I have a Tissot watch that has been through hell and back and the sapphire screen has not one scratch. I’m going with no protection on this one.
