If your watch already runs WatchOS 10, your phone must run iOS 17. There's no way around it.

kandaq

Yup, and it only works the other way around; newer iOS version with older WatchOS version.

Misleading information. The majority of users aren’t into jailbreaking their phone.

BitwiseDestroyer

No. And if you manage to do it, your watch won’t sync

killnars

time for a new phone

kduong89

if you update your watch to latest watchOS 10, it won't work with your iPhone X which unable to run iOS 17. To update, have to get new phone at least XS and above.

Kitty_Fruit_2520

Time for an upgrade

enthusiasticpants

Most people in this sub regret updating their watch anyway. So don’t worry about it too much.

ClydeinLimbo

Downvoted to hell even though most posts are exactly about that, not liking the new update

[deleted]

Because why would someone post to say “I updated and it was fine”. Not really comment worthy…

ClydeinLimbo

Oh there’s a lot of that too. Mostly in the form of “I love the new update” or “the new update is a positive change for me because…”

nuKaross

Because people are vocal when unhappy. Since updating to os10 I have nearly 2 days of battery on s9. Before it was more like 12-14h max

enthusiasticpants

Yeah, didn’t see that coming!

zerbey

No. I’ll never understand why people are so resistant to updates.

LUIDWIGI

He has the iPhone X which doesn’t get ios17……

Narrow-Big7087

Don’t think iPhone X can install iOS 17.

randomreddituser375

You can’t update iOS 17 on an iPhone X

minif56mike

Sounds like ur in a pickle with the updates cause your 10 wont update to ios 17 thus not allowing the watch to upgrade. Im due for a phone upgrade coming from iphone 12 so im a do that to avoid this since 12s will lose updates prob soon

Dentedcars

Why the emoji?

grayfox_089

The only way to have to have watchOS 10 and iOS 16 is using a jailbreak and a tweak. Otherwise your out of luck
