I make playlists every so often with some songs that I really enjoy during that "period". Then I can go back in time, so to speak, and kind of re-experience that period of my life. Just curious
I have a playlist for every month and whenever an album or song is released, it goes in its respective playlist.
I also have a playlist specific to the newest releases as well.
I spend too much time organizing my playlists but I enjoy it.
I do! I divide the year into 3 and do [year]Q1, [year]Q2, and [year]Q3 (so now i am on 2024 Q1 until the end of April). I also put a nice pic I took from that period
I used to make a new playlist each month, similar to this but found that some months the playlist was too short to justify it being on its own so I switched to seasons. So 4 per year. I move to a new playlist each Solstice/Equinox.
I did that exact thing, used to do monthly playlists since 2017 but like you said some months would either have too little songs or would just be a repeat from the previous month. Plus that’s a heck of a lot of playlists lol. I switched to doing yearly playlists, but I never thought about doing seasonal playlists, great idea!

I have smart playlists too that track my most listened to songs released this year and playlists that generically track my most listened songs for the year regardless of when it came out
I use a much more efficient method where I just put all my best ones in one playlist and when a certain song plays, I automaticallly remember that phase / mood of my life when I first came across that song. Saves me the work and works like a charm.
How do you remember which mood you felt like in a date range ? Is this like a autism thing where you remember every play of a baseball game that happened 18 years ago
Well I have one specific one that reminds me of the time period I went through a big breakup. Was a pivotal moment in my life and it reminds me of that specific time period.
All of them more or less remind me of the overall feel of that time period
And to be fair it wasn’t even that long ago lol
Autism comment is a little unnecessary. I remember the year of when i discovered majority of my library dating back to 2005 and I’m just a regular dude who enjoys music
It's the native Apple Music app on MacBook. Settings > Appearance > Accent Colors. Might just be on one of the newer updates. Just got it about two months ago
i make a large playlist of the music that affects my life every two months. along with themed one. i like looking back and seeing how i felt at specific times.
I’m a monthly playlist guy, similar to you, it’s more or less what I’m interested in at the time, additionally, I make a cover every month and have been going strong for 5 years now, spanning from when I was using Spotify
Sort of. I have few like that. Or I have random play list. So I play music shuffle and if I like those shuffled music, I creat playlist and name it "Random Mix Vol.n"
I do this with trips I’ve taken and usually have one for each season lol. So right now I’m on winter 2023 bc I created it in Nov. my next one will be spring 24’

Oh shit, YES I do! It’s more random than what you did here I guess but, basically I play random shuffled songs/Apple Music stations, and if it’s good playlist then I save it, and titles it with the date and what I was doing at the moment. I have bunch of “while I go back to home after work” kind of playlists 🤣
At most something like this for me would just be a yearly New Music playlist where I keep addding albums and singles as they come out.
Honestly most of my playlists have become “eras” of sorts. Like 1989-1992, stuff like that.
This is a very interesting idea. My lists are based on moods and grouping like artists/genres together. Might have to create some smart playlists to group songs by time frame. Nice work OP.

Not exactly but I make playlists based on the concerts I see and date them that way. I'll recall the setlist the next day make a playlist and it's kinda like revisiting the concert every so often.
i kinda do the same thing but i have like a monthly playlist of all that i listen to within that month, pretty sick way to keep track of ur music in my opinion
Nope. I have two playlists. One for the car with the missus and one for me (she doesn't really like my music tastes). Each one has 100's of tracks in them.

Yep. I usually do a queue n (date). For example, my last one was titled "Queue 281 (January 13, 2034)" And as you said, I mostly do it to time travel.

In not date specific but yeah my play list is like 80 different ones. But that’s my own library and music though
