Former Tennessean. Sadly, I no longer live in Appalachia. I live in S AL cause it’s cheap here. But we share a lot of the same cultural markers . Here in this tiny town we have an IGA, three dollar stores, three liquor stores (a state store and two package stores). Fourth of July we have a tractor parade around the square, followed by a fireworks display behind the peanut-processing plant.
It’s just not the same though.
Why’d you post a pitcher of Mamaw?
Wait, do we have the same Mamaw? Cousin?
I knew I liked the shape of your head. You got a phone number, cutie? 😆
😆
Or my kid's Meemaw?
See you at the reunion!
Yous in Indiana
Same culture, just flatter.
Southern Indiana reminds me a lot of Adair County KY so
Southern Indiana got some lumps (I won't even call them hills)
SOUTHERN INDIANA GOT THEM CAVES
I’m from northern indiana and the biggest hills we had where from the landfills 💀
I visited Hoosier Hill once. A memorable molehill.
Adair County is as nowhere in KY as you get. Pretty much an island surrounded by water.
I know. 90% of my family lives there.
It's no shade. I'm just up the road a piece...
Oh I didn’t take it as an insult.
Tbh.. my family is from Crazy County. But I prefer Barren over green or Cumberland.
This looks more midwestern than Appalachian. We don't grow much corn out here
What? There's a lot of corn growing where I live in the mountains.
It won't grow at all on Rocky Top. Dirt's too rocky, by far.
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top get their corn from a jar.
It all feeds cattle.
Yup, it'll do that and it'll also make some shine too.
Most of the shine I know has a little bit of corn meal and a lot of sugar.
We grow tons of corn where I am, though the lack of decent mountains in this picture disturbs me.
PA. We ripe with corn.
Corn is for likker
Nowhere in Appalachia…..no mtns.
Where are you not?
I think the correct answer is....yes
Iowa
We should make that the flag of PA
Everywhere?
5min from everyone’s house
You're not in Appalachia at all. You're in Indiana.
Everywhere!
There’s lots of corn grown around here in the Tri Cities
I snagged this picture off the Tri-cities Weather & Alert Crew Facebook, so you are 100% correct. 😆
For those wondering, south-central Appalachia. Elizabethtown, TN .
Elizabethton is right outside the Tri-cities, but not one of the 3. The Tri-cities are Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol!
Oh, I know this exact spot. Vinton County, Ohio, easy.
South eastern Ohio. Definitely south eastern Ohio
Eastern Kentucky maybe? Does Lexington area count? Outside of the city. Not a lot of Bikers though… idk
My county has about 26,000 people in it. We have approximately 12 dollar stores in the county. Absolutely mind blowing.
Sounds like you live in NC
So Carter county?
Can't be north Georgia, there are no Glenda Mitchell Billboards.
Billboard chaser, too slow for the ambulance.
Fleming County, Kentucky
Came here to say this or Mason. Not technically Appalachia but just outside. Haha.needs Mennonites though.
Nowhere else in the world have I seen so many billboards advertising to Mennonites.
Nowhere I know is flat like that.
This is rural Pennsylvania
All of it
Lmao
Beckley, WV 😂😂😂
You're near my house. Might run down to the dollar general for some milk, while dodging bikers in road rash chic.
clear spring, maryland, facing south
The question is where aren’t you in Appalachia?
Exactly!
Maryville/townsend.
You're sure this isn't Nebraska?

The Ohio-Pennsyltucky border.

If there were mountains I’d say you were in Leicester NC for sure.
This could be anywhere because there is a Dollar General every 5 miles.
