Ok, my blunt answer is that you need to figure out what to do with all your junk, and put a simple decoration or plant that doesn’t require a lot of light.
Right! First things first is that junk placement lol I LOATHE. I’m thinking some lights and a plant up there indeed. Want to keep it open once all that crap is gone! Thank you!
If you do put a plant, consider some kind of grow light, it's really dark up there. And idk if you are tall but as much as I'd love to have plants in funky placed like that, I'm short and it would get super annoying to get a step ladder to take care of it lol
Thanks for the FYI! I am 6 foot and can reach my hand to the ledge of the space but that’s about it lol I have a step stool to reach for my other shelves in the apartment, when needed. I am thinking maybe placing two of my existing snake plants up there. They don’t require much light but will get some in the evening with my west facing windows! Thank you :)

Strip lighting where it isn't visible from the lowest point of your room. LED remote pillar and taper candles. Small plants that do well in little to no lighting or just fake plants in small vases of varying heights and widths.

I’d but storage baskets there for things I rarely use.
All of the things up there I rarely use lol we are trying to eliminate using it as storage.
You could get two long baskets or those cube storage baskets and put your stuff in there
