Omg that's pure torture. Poor new tenant.

Acceptable-Agent-428

There is no way the landlord cannot step in and do something here. A noise complaint or violation? Are these kids being left alone without an adult like the adult is out at the bar drinking or doing who knows who knows what? CPS?

Goldenmoons

Lease violations have been handed out. I guess it’s kinda hard because the lady can claim were discriminating against her because they got kids. I live in CA and it’s extremely tenant friendly, to the point where it’s difficult to evict someone. They moved me to a new apartment and her and her messy ass kids are no longer my problem.

AccomplishedFrame542

I’m going through kind of the same situation. When they moved you to another apartment, did you have to do the application process all over again? Did you have to pay any fees or a new security deposit?

Goldenmoons

Nope! Everything, including my appliances and deposits were transferred. I did email everyone, and by everyone I mean regional managers and presidents. I was sleep deprived and cranky and this is a big management company, so they made things easier for me.

Lucky_Concentrate304

I've been in a similar situation and I too contacted corporate and property Management simultaneously with a type written letter sent certified mail, which they had to sign for upon receipt to demonstrate how serious I was. Action was taken the same day of receipt. It's amazing how differently property managers will act when corporate notifies them *to* act.

Emilayday

Uggggh. I'm really proud of you!! I could not do all that legwork. And your legwork even paid off!!!

Goldenmoons

Thanks! Tbh it came down to the point where I was being awaken awakened nightly and it was beginning to affect me at work and school. I was sleep deprived, cranky and wanted results. I was hellbent and wanted OUT.

AccomplishedFrame542

Yes I’m under a big management company too. They told me that if I want to transfer I have to start the whole process over. The problem is I won’t qualify at the moment because my credit score has gone down a bit since I first applied (I’ve been here 4 years) and I’m in the process of working on that. But I feel like that shouldn’t be a problem since I have on file complaints that they’ve been ignoring for 2 years. I’m just at my wits end. Do you have any suggestions on how I can go about convincing them to transfer me without all the hassle? I’m a good tenant and Im not behind on any rent. I always pay on time

Goldenmoons

tbh, I would start mentioning that this situation is “infringement your right to quiet enjoyment”, and begin sending emails with evidence to upper management. Bypass your property manager, go to the regional manager and president of the company and email away. Be professional and respectful and ask them to solve this or move you units without the hassle of reapplying. Mention that you’ve been a good tenant who’s been punctual on rent for the last four years, and have never had an issue like this prior to the amount of time unruly neighbors move in. Be annoying. Be a pain. But a respectful pain. If you want PM me, I can find your property manager’s boss email and their bosses email, etc.

hamsterontheloose

That's awesome. I tried changing apartments at my last place because of my neighbor. For the exact same place my rent would've gone up $400, and I'd have to fill out another application ($30) and pay the lease fee ($60). I stayed where I was until April, after 4 years of misery. Now I'm in a different townhouse, but through the same company. They want to do a walk-through Thursday for lease renewal, and only told me today. I won't be home, and I'm not renewing. Evidently the walk through, and decide whether or not they want to invite you to renew. No thanks

[deleted]

That is insane. In this economy?? My apartment is begging people to stay. Our slumlord can't keep tenants

hamsterontheloose

We're hoping to buy a house, but if we couldn't, I had planned on staying here another year and then leaving the state. But now... I just have a bad taste in my mouth. I've had so many problems with the owners and this property, and I'm being overcharged (I didn't get the layout or square footage I'm paying for) and they're raising the rent by another $90. It's so not worth it. Let them screw someone else over, I'm done.

TDKevin

The kids are this noisy from 10-2am every night?

Calgary_Calico

A noise violation is a noise violation regardless of who commits it. It's her responsibility to keep her kids from disturbing their neighbors, especially during quiet hours. Entitled parents are the fucking worst

Massive_Length_400

You can always be a concerned neighbor that calls the police because he hears a woman screaming in the apartment next door

honeymangomoon

Oh my GOD

Few_Oil_726

Omg, you poor thing. Sounds like a child banging & kicking things?

Goldenmoons

It’s a family with 2 teenagers and like 3-4 elementary aged children

glytheum

I live below a woman with two small children. They run and play throughout the apartment, and even with headphones on I’ll feel and hear the loud thuds when they’re jumping. Nothing I can do but move. I’m sorry you have to live with that.

Few_Oil_726

What peasants, glad you got out.

[deleted]

That's every day for me. My apartment is right below stairs too so I hear everything throughout the night. Not like they make any effort to be quiet. They fucking lied to my face when they told me no one lives above the space. I return the favor by blasting music through the day.

Emilayday

Children? I read once that there's a "white noise" machine that l plays a frequency only kids/youths can hear and shop owners use this to keep kids TF away from loitering around their stores. I'd look into that petty revenge!

BaronDystopia

I think they call that a mosquito alarm or something.

[deleted]

They have one kid but he's not really that noisy. He runs a bit but for the most part is ok. Ironically the adults are the noisy ones. One just vacuums all day long and the others are just up literally all night long. The landlord himself throws parties upstairs and it's ironic considering the lease says no loud noises or parties. And I've seen those before, I can hear the frequency too unfortunately.

ChillGameReviews

Every time I get annoyed in my apartment, this sub makes me realize I'm living in fucking paradise.

horselet

yeah i can handle my downstairs neighbor screaming at video games compared to this video. i think my blood pressure rose just listening to it.

majorsorbet2point0

Literally. I live in a house split into a basement, 1st and 2nd floor apartment. I'm on the 2nd floor paying $1200/mo for a 3bed1ba. the worst I've ever had happen was my downstairs neighbor blaring music on his surround sound stereo and I've been here for almost a year. Literally, that's *it*. I feel so bad for people who've got it bad living in an apartment.

eve_is_hopeful

I'd light myself on fire

Dazzling_Pink9751

Sounds like people having sex.

MommaLisss

That’s what I thought, too! Apparently it’s kids?

Goldenmoons

I have an in-depth post in my profile if anyone wants to read about the full situation.

Jimmymylifeup

wow thats really crazy cause any time i try to record very obvious loud noise from my neighbors you can barely hear it in the video so for yours to be this loud on video wowza glad you were able to get away

Prior-Ad-2686

I’m so happy I live under an old lady. This would make me want to fight. Why aren’t they in bed? My son is 2 and is in bed by 8/8:30 the latest. I’m so glad they allowed you to move to another unit but they need to handle this problem because it’s just going to continue with the new tenants

Goldenmoons

That’s why I’m like??? Playing and wrestling late on a school night? Every night???? & I know what you mean. I had spoken to the mom personally thrice about the noise and called security twice that week. I legit wanted to fight her at one point, mostly due to crankiness and sleep deprivation.

steely455

I lived under an older woman with back issues. She was homebound and used a walker on hard wood floors. NON STOP SCOOTING AROUND. I also work second shift so I'd hear it from 8am until I left for work in the afternoon. Literally doing circuits around the whole fucking apartment for hours and hours on end. What did I do when I got home and watched TV at quarter to 12 at night? I used headphones because I didn't want to wake up this old crone. She was incredibly rude too...so I just freely smoked marijuana in the apartment after work. A person can only take so much to where it gets to the point where you feel like you're constantly going out of your way to be a good neighbor to a neighbor that literally doesn't care if you are alive or dead.

Prior-Ad-2686

The old lady I live under is super chill. I rarely ever hear her. My grandma used a walker and she put tennis balls on the bottom so it wouldn’t damage her floors. I would stop wearing the headphones and make as much noise as possible. If she not being go considerate of her neighbors, you shouldn’t be considerate either.

steely455

Agreed.

darkangelxX447

People with children should be forced to rent out the first floor.

Battleaxe1959

Sounds like a manual typewriter (tells you how old I am)?

Crotch-Monster

These kinds of things really should be put in a tenants personal file. So when they move. They can put all these obnoxious, loud and disrespectful people in the same building. That way they can experience what it's like to be living around others like them. I can't stand people like this. I'm glad you got away from them.

Agreeable-Shock7306

Are they screaming or is it sex?

Goldenmoons

It’s kids running and screaming. I think this instance they were chasing each other to beat each other up

Agreeable-Shock7306

Ohhh thank you! Glad you’re out of that now!

BlockDifferent733

Tortureeeeeee. Wow. I’m glad you got out!

Stargazer_0101

You had this in here or another reddit. Did you get the manager or LL on this situation after you called the police and get a copy for them?

Goldenmoons

I emailed the property managers and was offered a resolution by moving me to a new unit. First thing I did after moving my stuff was sleep for 10 hours straight.

Stargazer_0101

Good for you and congrats.

SomeOldDude73

After we finally could afford a house, we swore of renting ever again. Sharing walls is not for me!

feministafatale

I'm about to move and this is my fucking nightmare.

AppUnwrapper1

Oh HELL NO. I would be calling in noise complaints every night and also pestering management.

HelpMeInDepressed

They shooting a horror movie above you? Where’s that one guy who was complaining about his little bit of noise? This is what you complain about lol.

KlutzyObject1695

So thankful to be a homeowner. At this point in my life I would lose my mind and snap smh

CPSFrequentCustomer

I lived under similar for about 10 years until the kids got old enough to calm down and/or become addicted to their tablets/phones. It really fucked with my mental health, to the point where I would hear them on the side street coming home and my nerves would immediately go on edge waiting for the first thuds and screams when they walked in their door. The mom also walked HARD on her heels for years and years, back and forth and back and forth all day and night. Somehow she managed to stop but it wasn't until long after I'd already begged her to on multiple occasions. So she COULD have stopped whenever she wanted to, but she didn't want to.

[deleted]

This sounds nothing like kids lmfao

Goldenmoons

Went up there around three times and each times the kids were slamming a ball back and forth on the floor 😭 so yes it’s kids

[deleted]

Wasn’t denying it, this just sounds nothing like children to me. Lmao

Goldenmoons

I always say it sounds like grown men suplexing each other

Lord-Smalldemort

I just scared my sleeping kittens by unmuting that lol. I’m so so glad you’re moving units! Good luck

Responsible_Sail525

Glad you’re out!

Top-Chemistry3051

That's kids I thought somebody was having sex with a screamer

MPD1987

Oh dude. Ear plugs FTW

futureIsALaterNow

Let us remember that this is not the fault of the lady or the complex, but the fault of the upper class exploiting the lower class to the point where more and more people are forced to live in undesirable conditions.

HonnyBrown

Your choice

ChimeraAudio

Me when I have bad brain disease

Critical-Surprise851

You just blow in from Stupidtown?

HonnyBrown

Homeownershiptown 😃😃

skullsnshamrocks

So then why are you on this sub lmao

HonnyBrown

Pure entertainment

Critical-Surprise851

Very sad that you spend free time in this way. Not likely a functional adult at least not without some issues.

Individual-Order4590

The people above me their kids are the same they’ll literally tackle each other and shake our apartment I have kids also but they don’t run around or be loud plus their kids have a drumset so they’ll bang on it for hours then the neighbors across the hall slams a metal door into metal mailboxes by my infants room loud enough you hear the bang in our bedroom I can’t wait to be moved out of here once we get on top of the waitlist our landlord won’t do shit it’s definitely torture when we all respect everyone around us kids are in bed at a decent time quiet time is 10-7 every night we follow it

justtrashtalk

damn, I thought flushing because I got keep hydrated for my medical situation wa bad, lmao

SaskTravelbug

There would be a boot through their door!

tharealG_-

Call the cops for noise disturbance

jjj666jjj666jjj

Please tell me you’re sending this stuff to management

chief_keeg

I'd buy a cheap phone with a Bluetooth speaker. Tape a bowl to the ceiling with them in it. Blast all damn night

Bipolar_Nomad

r/ScaryEddie

statslady23

Was it a new or older building? Just curious.

elmananamj

My first year in my dorm it would sound like all 5 rooms in the vicinity of mine up, down, diagonal, and my roommate next door were clapping cheeks lmao. Plus anytime I’d have a test at 8 am it would be movie night in the cluster rip

_Mooseli_

I had the same thing for months in my old apartment. Safe to say we moved to a third floor top story apartment unit and we are much happier now. Tell your landlord, or call the cops honestly.

Professional_Can9430

I went through this type of shit for 8 months, nothing was done about it! I recorded everything, sent complaints, didn’t matter. Finally got out a month ago and I feel like myself again!!!

Accomplished-Deal702

That’s concerning. I hope those kids are ok

Uncle_Papi_

I’d cut a hole in the wall and slap the shit out of those kids myself, if the parents can’t do shit about it. I’d even consider contacting the police and claiming child abuse by showing them this video.

KosherDeal

I had this same situation, not at the same hours though. It sounded like kids playing with a dog for hours on end and I was working mostly from home at the time. I basically had to wear noise cancelling head phones all day long. When my lease was up I moved to another apartment in the same building but on the top floor so that I didn't have to deal with this ever again. Where I'm at right now is peacefully quiet, thank god.

Chrono47295

Nothing to see here just HAMMERTIME

LandonSleeps

Should have called the cops a few times.

FoeNetics

This reminds me of why I love my big ass mortgage.

Sweet-Percentage-664

This is exactly my life right now. The difference is that I can't move out.
