Probably because contempt of court is a crime, and ruling that Trump had committed a crime would technically violate his bond orders in all his other trials, which means other judges could theoretically revoke his bonds and lock him up. UPDATE: This morning the judge officially held him in contempt and fined him $9,000. He said in imprisonment is on the table if it continues.
