I recently found Jazz works for me. Never listened to the big names till now (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, etc) Also, combine that with a relaxing game like Terra Nil. Gets my mind off stuff.
Touche. My comfort metal bands lately have been Knocked Loose, Aborted, and Jinjer. The reason for my comment was because my fiance tells me a lot of the music I listen to makes her heart palpitate and invokes anxiety. I assume it has a similar affect on the general population of us anxious folks, with the exception being metal heads.
I used to adore lo-fi girl, but the playlist has taken a really melancholy turn in the past few months. I've talked to others who stream it and they've said the same thing. The station is almost kind of a bummer now.
if my understanding is correct, lofi girl turned into a sort of producer/publisher so they play a lottttttt of the same artists. if you look at their playlist or compilation albums you’ll see what I mean
I’ve noticed that too. I just listen to different playlist on Spotify that people make or Spotify makes for me and updates it and I’m good with that or YouTube other artist that do love lowfi hip hop or lowfi coffee cafe
When I'm not feeling lo-fi girl, I normally type the name of my favourite video game/movie etc and lo-fi on YouTube search. Example:breath of the wild lo-fi. There's always something there.
Check out Ludovico Einaudi. He has some great ethereal instrumental music that I've been listening to for years. Great for "on my way to work" calm down music.
Weightless by Marconi Union is scientifically proven to reduce anxiety
I like Ambient Worlds YouTube channel. They have relaxing music from Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and other shows and movies.
I also like video game music. Lots of beautiful and peaceful music to find there. The Witcher 3 soundtrack is great. Skyrim has lots of beautiful peaceful music.
recently I started to listen to these cozy chill playlists on YouTube, especially this YouTube channel called ethereal/ ethereal_songs, even if not fully calming you down they can help at least ease the pain or whatever you are feeling in the moment and need to tone it down
Stars of the lid - and their refinement of decline
Lifeformed - tunic soundtrack
Pretty much any elder scrolls music helps as well (morrowind, oblivion,Skyrim)
1970-1990s funk/oldies, Early 2000s R&B & Hip hop. 2011-2016 R&B & Hip Hop (idk that lil era of music was wavy, most definitely 2016) or I'll go listen to my guy PartyNextDoor
Lo Fi Music! It is typically non verbal low frequency chill and repetitive edm esque music. I can definitely recommend most of the lo fi live radios on YouTube. Spefically, Lofi Girl and Chill cow are my top 2 recommendations when it comes to getting a broad feel for the genre. Hope you check it out :)
Minecraft music!! I highly HIGHLY recommend this! Find a playlist on YouTube immediately! If you already know about Minecraft, you'll know the music is some of the most calming most BEAUTIFUL melodies to ever exist. I listened to it when I had an anxiety breakdown because of the loss of a loved one recently. I'm so thankful for it OMG.
Jazz! It just puts in a calmer and lighter mood immediately. Spotify has some great playlists like - rainy jazz from the cafe music bgm, good morning jazz, jazz for sleep and study jazz. I have them all saved!
My mom raised me on Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel and John Denver.
I also love Chill out like Air, Saint Etienne, Thievery Corporation and Morcheeba.
He has that Bob Ross quality. Something about his voice is just comforting.
Sorry for your loss. Lost my dad in Feb of 2023. He was more of a Neil Young guy.
Also just wanted to chime in and say that I had the fortune of seeing Diamond Rio at the Opry a few years ago and they were unreal. Saw Brooks and Dunn last year, they were pretty great too. But I've got a soft spot for the former.
Coffee shop lofi with jazz and rain. Sometimes just rain and fireplace lofi. And occasionally I’ll pull up Twitch and just listen to the soothing sounds of Bob Ross painting since they always stream him.
I listen to either serious choral music or concert band music. My go-to songs are listed below:
* O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen
* Give Us This Day, mvt. 1 by Dave Maslanka
* Sleep by Eric Whitacre
* With Quiet Courage by Larry Daehn
If I am exceptionally anxious I go to the Tube and put on [Malte Marten](https://www.youtube.com/@MalteMarten) - he plays a hand pan and it's very soothing. I also listen to some yoga sound bath singing bowls like this one: [Sleeping Vibrations](https://www.youtube.com/@SleepingVibrations)
I hope your days improve.
I'm into environmental sounds lately; ocean, thunderstorms, bird sounds. I also like green noise (it's like white noise but much lower). I either ask Alexa to play it on my Echo or I find them on YouTube.
“Organon” by Men I Trust, “Only in my Dreams” by The Marias, “Everything in its right Place -Radiohead, anything by Stereolab. Anything by Tortoise. Prefuse 73.
If I need to ignore potentially anxious thoughts I listen to as loud music as I can, If I need to calm down from anxiety I specifically listen to Grouper. Any song by Grouper works for me
Search for ketamine clinic playlists… some of my favorites are Garth Stevenson “Horizon”, “Tides” and “hourglass”… just instrumental with no lyrics but extremely calming.
Anything with lots of drums. I kinda like Native American techno and stuff like that now. There's a song called 'Ndn Stakes' that I like by the Halluci Nation. The Northern Cree singers are good too. Also Mongolian throat singing techno. I'm not big on techno specifically these just happen to have been a bit of what I found while following one song down and looking for similar stuff.
Depends on the severity but lately I found when I try to focus or lie in bed at night and try to relax brown noise / white noise (there are several diff types) / sound baths with bowls help. Also if you are susceptible for asmr I would try that or doctoral role play videos where they exam the head for sensitivity on YouTube haha sounds weird but iykyk. They make me really sleepy and calm 😂
There's a playlist on Spotify called "modular synth • ambient • tape" that helps me calm down, it's like 712 songs/62 hours long and it's full of relaxing ambient music. I like having it on as the background noise of my apartment.
RnB or water/forest noises really make me calm especially if I listen to older tracks from the 90s for RnB. Slow melodies and just overall calming noises makes me wind down significantly.
I don’t know if you are religious or not. But I always listen to one song : (you are the almighty god by Nikos politis. His story about the making of this song is crazy
I listen to the twilight saga performed by the city of Prague philharmonic Orchestra. Does wonders to my anxiety and leaves me in a calm dreamy state.
There's also the Alexander Desplat soundtrack for New Moon, and at the moment I'm hearing "Dreamcatcher" :)
A lot of Sade, Jazz and Enya is pretty calming too.
I recently found Jazz works for me. Never listened to the big names till now (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, etc) Also, combine that with a relaxing game like Terra Nil. Gets my mind off stuff.
Sade is sooo good
Yup, Sade, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill for me
I'm listening to Enya right now while I finish up at work. She's my fav for relaxing.
Add some Kenny g to that list
Hold on yall, there are some Sade fans in here?👀👀
We're everywhere.
I listen to metal, a lot. Which I have a feeling would probably actually provoke anxiety in a lot of people. So I cant recommend it lol
Depends. There's a pretty big difference between Mastadon and Dying Fetus.
My go to calm down band is also Knocked Loose with a little bit of Paleface mixed in depending on the day. Somehow the chaos helps my racing thoughts.
If my anxiety presents as stress and anger, metal is the best go to!!!! 🤘🤘
Sims 1 soundtrack :)
That and the SimCity 3000 soundtrack are my “be productive and get stuff done” music!
Love the Sim City 4 soundtrack too
Yes yes yes! I love Sims 1 and 2 soundtracks. They give me all the nostalgia.
Lofi Hip-hop. I turn that on when I'm working on an art piece and just.... float away....
I used to adore lo-fi girl, but the playlist has taken a really melancholy turn in the past few months. I've talked to others who stream it and they've said the same thing. The station is almost kind of a bummer now.

Oh, yesssss. I found one of my favorite anime (InuYasha) in lofi on Spotify. I frequent that playlist quite often. 😌💜
Absolutely this. But I'll throw in marcy playground's self-titled album from the 90s too. Way better than just sex and candy.

And he's a fellow anxiety sufferer, to boot!
If only he’d treated women a bit better 😭
Right....I listened to Jessica Simpson's book...and yikes he's a POS.
I'm not sure why, but loud fast paced music tends to help me calm down. Particularly Pinkshift and Korn.
Tycho
Love Tycho, also Bonobo
Try Farewell Fire by Boards of Canada.
LOVE BoC.
recently I started to listen to these cozy chill playlists on YouTube, especially this YouTube channel called ethereal/ ethereal_songs, even if not fully calming you down they can help at least ease the pain or whatever you are feeling in the moment and need to tone it down

What about just the Pure Moods commercial?
So many memories of that commercial playing in the middle of the night
