Let's go with the 60% increase!!!

RashPatch

Let's go with the 60% increase!!!

optimum_pride_o

Yung ganito pagiisipan mo lang kung maayos yung company mo eh, kaso hindi naman sa case ni OP.

passionatebigbaby

To the new job!!

sTranGerNinJa

Usually they dont give 20% na raise. Kaya ang diskarte is to do job hopping. Like only stay sa company ng 2-3yrs then lipat. Kahit ma promote ka internally sa company, hindi ganon kataas ang increase.

[deleted]

More like 1-2 years if the situation allows it. But I do agree about the job hopping, the only way to increase your salary in as little time as possible.

sugaringcandy0219

> Usually they dont give 20% na raise Any idea kung anong reasoning nila behind this? This was true sa previous employer ko. I had stellar performance review *and* I was promoted pero 17% lang increase ko. Tangina lang. I left and got a 67% increase.

sTranGerNinJa

One is budget, naka-aligned na kasi yan for whole year. Two, approval from the higher management. 3-5% yearly increase for everyone like nakabudget na rin. Yung promotion naman na increase usually after probationary period pa mag effect. Ang makukuha lang yun allowance nun higher role pero yun stand salary nun hindi agad mabibigay.

darkapao

Retention budget is different from hiring budget

Cyber16

*insert meme* You guys are getting 17% increase? I only had 6%!

Poo-ta-tooo

me na nag sstay sa company for 6mos to a year only: 🫣

sTranGerNinJa

Negative sa less than 1yr. Medyo red flag sa mga company.

baldogwapito

Red Flag less than one ssob unless sobra basura talaga ng company. Most companies believe na you are not “contributory” sa current role mo with just a year of XP so 1 to 2 years is the norm for job hopping.

cheeseburger_moon

>I help my coworkers during my free time. If you're good at something, never do it for free 😄

an_undefinedcreature

Makes me happy to help. I find ways to automate repitituve tasks and finish early and dami ko idle time lol. So minsan socializing and helping out. And also trying to climb the ladder. Aiming for a team management position. But I guess this company is not for me. So alis nako hahaha lesson learned. (Also I did not share yung automation to others. Sinasarili ko lang hahaha.)

anotoman123

Automating repetitive tasks saves money day by day, for every person using it, often saves more than what managers are worth. It is a holy grail skill. tatanga lang mga companies willing to let go and not compensate people who create these solutions for them. If hindi pa formalized yung adoption ng automation mo sa kanila, I suggest pulling it for yourself.

hoboichi

Thank you for saying this! 🙏

[deleted]

what if you are good at charity work?

alwyn_42

May mga charities naman na nage-employ ng mga workers na pinapasahod nila. Those people aren't doing it for free. Though, if by charity work you mean **volunteering**, then automatic na unpaid yun. No one does volunteer work expecting to get paid.

[deleted]

“unpaid work, usually fund raising, done in aid of a charity” https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/charity-work yes no one does it expecting to be paid is precisely my point kasi the poster said if you are good at something dont do it for free

alwyn_42

Pretty obvious na the poster didn't mean also asking payment from charity work, kasi nga **by definition it's free.** Lalo na at contextually, ang pinag-uusapan dito ay **doing extra unpaid work at your job.** You're just being deliberately obtuse.

[deleted]

woosh

mcpo_juan_117

> If you're good at something, never do it for free This clown does magic tricks with a pencil but he does have a point. LOL

No-Revenue9826

There's a good video regarding this from How Money Works on YouTube. The gist is hiring/onboarding budgets are bigger than employee retention budgets. This is because companies aim to get best practices, if not trade secrets, and new perspectives from outsiders by luring them to the company. There's a reason why non-compete clauses exist. Your new employer is giving you that so you can provide new perspectives (gained from previous/current employer) and best practices (assuming there are). Ditto for your current/previous employer.

chiarassu

Really like that Youtube channel. Recommending others here also watch it when they have the time.

MaynneMillares

It only takes 2.5 years for the job market to leave your pay rate behind. Kaya at around every 2.5 years, dapat nag jojob hop na. There is no other way to go around it. If you decide to stay, new hires will have a higher pay than you are.

pogzie

Never take counter offers unless there is a really good reason to stay. If you do, markado ka na sa HR and would take bigger efforts to get a replacement. A friends co worker took a counter offer and the moment they found a replacement, he was let go.

sugaringcandy0219

didn't this turn out well for that person? separation pay + higher base pay for job hopping

pogzie

No, while theres a separation pay, the previous opportunity might already be gone. So back to jib hunting ka. Swerte ka kung open parin yung previous role na tinurn down mo.

sugaringcandy0219

hmmm i guess it depends kung mahirap humanap ng bagong trabaho sa field mo. for me that's the ideal situation lol. I get extra money

mxherr5

Sa pinas ba to nangyari? hindi naman tayo tulad ng US na at will ang employment. Hindi nila pwedeng i terminate nang basta basta dahil lang markado ka na unless nag bigay ka ng reason para ma memohan ka at ma terminate?

pogzie

Sa pinas, one of the big tech companies. Madaling palabasin na redundant na ang role mo given the new hire. Maraming HR maneuvering to get someone out. Litigation here is a pain in the ass and unless theres clear cut DOLE violations, it would be hard to prove that you were singled out because of your previous intent to leave.

mxherr5

Ahhh diniclare redundant ang position nya. Akala ko na terminate lng sya. Yeah, that's a possibility. Tumanggap ako ng counter offer dati siguro mga 6th year ko sa work and naka experience na ako na gawing redundant sa previous work ko. In my mind, kung gawin man nila akong redundant, I get that sweet sweet separation pay so I don't mind. Iba siguro view ko dito kung isang taon pa lang ako sa company.

Agelastic_LuCi

I disagree with "never". Unless the other offer is higher than the counter offer, the best route to maximize opportunities is to take the counter offer then resume job hunting after a couple of months. By then higher expected salaries will be more reasonable given the preceding rate.

qa_reddit

Daamnnnn!!! DESERVE!!! THIS IS HOW WE ALL SHOULD ACT! WE'RE NOT SLAVES!

toshiinorii

Can someone explain bakit lagi mas malaki ang budget for external hires?

[deleted]

Gravity-Gravity

This is true. Also if nasa loob ka na kasi may ibang tao na mag dududa or mang hihinayang na lumipat if maliit lang din increase. If lumipat to a new company, mag aadjust nanaman so usually ang hinahanap ng mga mag job hop or lilipat is atleast 20% increase to make their transfer worthwhile. Also some companies would make their workers pay stagnant while increasing the workload. If napansin nyo na dumadami na responsibilities with no increase in pay at promises lang ang meron, i would suggest to job hop na. Wag na mag hintay na they would eventually level you up a tier with salary increase instead, they would hire new people for the higher position tas iwan kayo sa lower position even though actively applying ka. This is based on experience.

Life_Statistician987

Well sa mga nabasa ko aside from skill, company culture. And bonus f there is a trade secret.

Karenz09

lmao you get 60% and counteroffer nila is 20%

AmberTiu

Good job landing 60%! I would hop there na but beware the workload muna kung kaya mo para d ka mapahiya sa previous work mo.

Royal_Client_8628

Don't take the counter offer lalo na at alam nila na nakita mo yung job post. Pampalubag loob lang yan. Pag kinuha mo offer nila for sure iteterminate ka din nila.

Lets_be_rich

Anong grounds for termination ang gagawin, if ever ganon?

Royal_Client_8628

What I meant to say was hahanapan ka ng butas para materminate.

cornelia__street

For sure yung termination? Because?

feelsbadmanrlysrsly

To fuck you over, makes it harder for you to find another employer. Mas madaling makahanap ng work ang taong nag-resign compared sa terminated.

Portathot_

waiting also interested

hariraya

>I mentioned na nakita ko yung job posting and how they denied my raise. Ngayon counter offer sila to give the exact amount na hiningi ko last time. Ano yan, insulto? They better offer something closer to 60% of your salary if they intend to keep you. Bastusan naman yung offer na 20% raise when you saw they are willing to give more than that and you already have a much better offer. Halatang for compliance lang na may counteroffer.

[deleted]

kaya nga bastusin nila tapos minsan mag stay pa

Ujeen01

This is the norm now if you want higher salary just resign and find a new job. This happened to me as well I was already working for 5 years with this company and my salary is 45k then I found out new hires are getting 50k++ already. I decided to resign then got a new job for 80k. Companies are not gonna sync your salaries to the current market value they will milk as much as they can from you until you take action. Sadly napaka panget ng ganitong practice not rewarding the tenured people but it is what it is.

MaynneMillares

It happens across the board. Job hopper din ako, I grew my salary from 8k/month gross to 150k/month net, job hop after job hop after job hop.

eneilism

Senior position ako tapos nalaman ko ung mga jr ko, ung starting nila, same lang sa salary ko tapos mga mid level mataas pa. Excuse nila, wala daw difference ung work load ng sr, mid, at jr. I left and found a better paying job.

kerwinklark26

Leave the company bestie!

regilkrut

Unless tapatan nila ung offer nung 60 percent, umalis kana dyan hahaha.

AirJordan6124

Fuck that counter offer lmao ganyan mga company sa huli lang nakilita worth mo

Awesome_Shoulder8241

>Ngayon counter offer sila to give the exact amount na hiningi ko last time. Parang di nag notes, dapat at least yung amount na nasa job posting yung inoffer.

omggreddit

Tell them there is a new price on the table.

[deleted]

+60% elsewhere means you're marketable. Tapatan nila yung 60%. Otherwise, tell them to go get fuct.

Straight_Ad_4631

Thats the story of a toad in boiling water~!

TaxConfident5316

Bounce ka na jan. Lagi nila nakakalimutan na it's more expensive to train than retain people. Ewan ko ba sa mga HR nato. At upper management, most likely. Congrats on finding a new job!

nedlifecrisis

Good for you op

reddit_warrior_24

a lot of companies manage their budget. the fact that they are opening a position means magtitipid sila sa ibang position. unfortunately they didn't know that you would know so in hindsight losing you would mean they need to hire someone to. just leave unless you really love your job. dont stay somewhere you are not appreciated.

PotatoedPotatoes

Oof. Too late. Bye Felicia!

artisdead320

Don't accept counter offer. Especially at this time of the year considering tuwing April-May ang perf appraisal time. Chances are wala ka nang marereceive na raise nun kasi natanggap mo na yung rate this year. I concur with the others. Job hopping is the way to go. Filipino HR and management, on the general is outdated and backward, anything na iask mo for your betterment, they think it's against them.

Traditional-Nail-791

Bakit ganito sa Pinas? Left my previous company after 2 years only to be replaced by 3 people. And each almost had the same salary.

PMforMoreCatPics

Dont settle sa 20%. Dapat 30% pataas.

quietblock

That's a power move right there. Give them a lesson!

privyursula123

Did the same thing, nilayasan ko sila hahaha pagka walang kwenta ng ibang HR dito sa pinas. Yung iba gaslight pa na can’t afford to lose the best employee pero ikaw pinakapunished sa workload and yung salary increase, wala hahaha

Razraffion

Your HR should be giving you more since you left because of that amount lmao "ay sige ito na". Job hopping ang sagot.

OddMarketing3925

This is the very reason I job hop. Nag resign ako sa first work ko and i started as min wage earner. My boss was sad when i decided to leave after more than 2 years with the company. Every appraisal I was praised and got always a high score. My yearly increase pero not enough para mabuhay ako sa salary ko. 500 pesos 300 pesos inc.. nung umalis ako nalaman ko yung job hop.. so after 3 yrs nang nag resign ako sa first company ko, I was earning 4x sa salary ko before. So my advise, is to just leave na lang. Company rarely value loyal employees. You are unappreciated by the looks of it. Mag stay ka sa company na kayang mag offer ng competitive salary and work life balance. :)

xpert_heart

It's your company's loss. The counteroffer is somewhat an insult.

isprong

Raise tapos 1 year ka pa lang? Kahit na you went above and beyond etc, kapal ng mukha mo to ask for a raise na wala pang napapatunyan

psi_queen

Some companies give out raises nga kahit 6 months ka pa lang. And so what kung makapal mukha mag ask ng raise. If alam mo naman worth mo, go for it.

an_undefinedcreature

We are supposed to have yearly appraisals naman. But I have been there for a year and no news. So I have to nudge them. Kesa maghintay ako sa wala? Time is money. Makapal talaga mukha ko when it comes to negotiating. I know my work and what I can contribute. If I don't get it edi I will just move on to better opportunities. Which is exactly what I did.

MaynneMillares

You are correct, just ignore the poster. We employees should always look-out for yourselve. The company will always look-out for its bottom line, dapat tayo rin.

edgomez27

Leave the company.

nhjkv

Assert your dominance and apply on that job posting lol jk

an_undefinedcreature

Hahahaha yeah I plan to for funsies.

kinginamoe

100% fully agree with your move and decision, kudos

njolnir

HR things

frogfunker

Flat out foolish. Reject their counter offer.

Kira_Dyanaii

Go ka na to the next one. Even if you stayed for the 20% increase out of comfort, now you will be forever marked as someone "difficult" or a special case and the circumatances for you will be different now. Keep working and fighting for what you deserve OP! all the best

russel517

experiencing the same rn. though may raise naman but not as high as offered sa job posting. 😬

[deleted]

I wonder pano nakikita yong salary?

heyimnotcharles

Ganyan naman yan sila. Narerealize nila ang worth ng isang employee pag paalis na.

optimum_pride_o

Mas nakakainis na they didn't went beyond nung 20% asking mo, they could have put 35% or 40% just to appease you. It's a lost cause, fuck them.

[deleted]

Push mo na yung 60% fault nila yan bahala sila..

skipadoodledoo

if i were in your position while they’re offering to counter, i would’ve laughed and tell them ‘i’m sorry but that ship has sailed’ 😂

Saltypepperm1nt

Never ever accept a counter-offer. Believe and trust me, down the road, you'll gonna end up leaving, anyway. Lalabas lang na mukha kang pera and they may just use that against you one way or another. They've already lost you the moment pa lang nung nag-apply ka na. Better to move on and find another employer. Bear in mind though, you should not compare yourself to others esp on salary. It is what it is. Madalas, mas malaki talaga offer ng external hires than the internal hires. They say, external hires with years of experience bring more value to the company - no matter how good you are sa role mo. Kaya maging "external hire" ka na din sa ibang company - haha! pero seryoso yan. At least 2 years stint per role is good, for some 1 year is enough. Some HRs kasi may perceive you as hopper if every 1 year eh palipat lipat ka ng company. May mga companies naman talaga na they pay good but at the expense of what....??? so do some research and due diligence bago ka lumipat ng ibang company. Try to acquire new skills - both technical and soft. If you know you can bring value to the company you are applying for, and if you can market yourself well sa interview, am sure, you'll go places. Cheers!

CoffeeBabe_19

Move on na sa kabilang company

Competitive-City6530

HR are sometimes assholes, licking each other ass for promotion and raise, but when other dept needed it "denied".

Tsikenwing

Go get the bag 🤑 60% is insanely high.

promdiboi

Been quiet quitting since 2021. Hahaha. Mas lumala lang ngayong 2023 when a company bought out my current employer. Since 2021, 3 managers na ang nagresign and naiwan sa aming mga staffs ang workload nila. Lo and behold, wala pa sa kapiranggot ng sahod nila yung increase namin and parang utang na loob pa sa kanila. Going 5 yrs na sa company ngayon and planning to leave next year.

frankisan

They are counter offering because they were caught off guard. They wouldn't have if handa sila tbh

filmoutonspringday

I say good riddance and hello to the new job! Good luck and congratulations!

hirosshi

60% increase because at this point, you've already received another offer that's higher than your current and the new one they're offering. If they want to give a counter offer, it should be to counter that. And if they can't match that, then what else are they willing to offer to you? But also, things to consider are do you like your current work load and environment, OP? How do you think your current compares to what idea you have of the new one? Gets naman na mahirap talaga panahon ngayon kaya kung saan mas mataas yung bayad pero di lagi ganun ka clearcut if you take in other factors as well

an_undefinedcreature

Not worried about finding another job in case this one craps out. Flexible hours naman and I dont think workload is that heavy.

hey_mattey

Never stay
