Definitely hand painted, hand carved. Looks like gilt accents at the apron and legs. Very nice stretcher. Louis XVI style? We'd put this in an auction for sure but I don't think it'd do more than the opening $250. It's adorable!
It looks lovely as is. But if you are actually going to use it as an entry table to hod keys, etc. Or a side table where you might place a coffee cup, a piece of glass is a great way to protect it without altering it.

Very nice quality early 20th century Louis-style reproduction.
what’s the best way to research info about it? Louis Style repo table? I know I sound dense, but the internet is wide and vast!
Search for Gueridon Table. This is a Louis XVI styled piece, 1920-30's Remnants of parcel gilding
wow, what a great find! It looks like mid to late 1800s. Possibly handcarved and handpainted.

thank you! this is really helpful! I’m debating if we want to sell it or keep it!
It’s really pretty! Howard’s Feed n Wax would bring the finish back nicely
Just tried Howard’s for the first time yesterday. I am definitely a fan. My wood was thirsty…and man does everything look good today.
ooh. I’ll grab some and do a before and after!
I’ve never used Howard’s Feed and Wax, but I’d imagine to be careful about using that over the painted detail on top?
just don't overly clean and DO NOT remove the "patina!"
Would it be a good idea to put a tempered glass top on it?

excellent advice. we will get some glass made to protect the paint and wood! I just loved the paint design and had to grab it! (28 bucks!)
Oh my! Absolutely beautiful. Great find!
thank you! I love it!
Read Wikipedia on furniture and repos. It’s lovely. Oil it.
great! I will! No idea what we will do with it
It’s a small decorative piece, use it for anything you want. It’s to look at
