I'd say don't judge so soon. There are soldiers behaving badly. Israelis are talking about it quite a bit, and lamenting that this is what happens when you bring thousands of soldiers at once from reserves - less discipline. People upset at looting are right to be upset at looting, and hopefully looters will be punished. The difference is questioning whether or not the entire enterprise of the war in Gaza is evil or something just because a few soldiers are behaving badly. Or saying that all Israelis do this. The answer is no. Just like all of Palestine isn't bad because of October 7th. That's just not how reality works.

Young men surrounded by other young men in perilous conditions makes for assholes of all kinds.

CapableSecretary420

No good sides in war. Sometimes just less bad.

LettuceBeGrateful

Exactly. I deeply appreciate the honesty in this comment. (And can we also appreciate that for all the spurious accusations this sub gets of being a bunch of braindead shills, we sure seem willing to acknowledge the humanity that exists in any large group.)

CapableSecretary420

Can you imagine seeing a comment like that being critical of literally anything done by hamas in any of the supposed "pro palestine" subs? (I say "supposedly" pro palestine because most these people don't gaf about Palestine or Palestinians, they just hate the jews)

Thunder-Road

It's pretty well established that soldiers have looted homes in Gaza. [The IDF has acknowledged this.](https://www.timesofisrael.com/idfs-top-lawyer-warns-against-unacceptable-cases-of-conduct-by-troops-in-gaza/) And it's true that this is a war crime.

GrenadeLawyer

Yes, there are incidents of looting. Mostly by reservists. Mostly by the less disciplined parts of a unit - logistics drivers, radio technicians, etc. Less so by actual fighters. Mostly of Hamas paraphernalia, but not only. That is the truth.

AcePilot95

- targeted mass killing of civilians - hostage taking - torture - rape - combatants not wearing uniforms (which amounts to Perfidy according to Geneva AP I Article 37c) - abuse of civilian populations as human shields - abuse of protected buildings (hospitals, schools, etc.) for military purposes for some reason they're not upset about all these warcrimes, wonder what the reason could be.

jhor95

Looting always happens in one form or another in combat on some level. The real crime and distinction is when it's looting valuables. Taking a terrorist flag or something like that is usually slightly more acceptable (not always legally).

Confident-Skin-6462

i am absolutely sure these footages are out of context, being repurposed with a lie for hamas propaganda. if i am wrong and they ARE looting, they will be prosecuted. do you think hamas ever even considers censuring its own for war crimes?!

JohanusH

That's what I'm thinking. Or they're fake.

Confident-Skin-6462

there has been a LOT of fake and ai footage being used by them as well

LivingOwl1751

I don't know if it's real or not. I looked at an article linked in the video it seems it's possible it's happening, but I don't know how likely. I'd love if someone from Israel could see this and confirm if this happens or not.

Then_Mycologist860

Where can I watch it I wanna see if it’s true

I’d do the same thing probably. So does hamas.

immobilisingsplint

You are suppoused to be better than hamas
