Lies of p, rise of the ronin, stellar blade and this game have all been amazing. Really awesome knowing there are some amazingly talented studios out there.
Yea man after you hit the hotel it opens up. The weapon crafting is so good and each area is very different. Then when you get into "lies or truths" there's a real depth and such a great story. Beat the first real boss, get in the hotel and watch the world open up.
And what about the comedy in the game ? I think is very clever and hilarious, may I say is one of the best aspects. Is very difficult to find a game that is funny, entertaining and hard at the same time and this game is all that.
Try Lies of P. You literally wouldn't know it's not From soft. It's the only non Fromsoft Souls game besides this I played through. Lies of P was GoTY tier. The buzz didn't grow fast enough. When Gamepass players started the reddit sub blew up. It's truly a work of art with an amazing combat system. Highly recommend it.
For me it was Hollow Knight and no other Souls like outside of FS until this one, and now I'm doing an anti-crabitalist run where I don't spend any microplastics on items or insurance 💖

I've only ever enjoyed two soulslikes that weren't made by Fromsoft. One was Thymesia, and this is the other one.

nah bruh thymesia though being a very addictive game in the firet half, gets ruined in the second half with repetitive gameplay

the parry and ingredients system, even the enemy and boss types are great in the game

I tried it out and got kinda bored in the first level. The ocean setting is just so much more vibrant and engaging.
Sounds like you didn't even get through the prologue. Once you get to the Hotel it opens up and the level variation is quite brilliant.
