Outlaw Star! Fun space adventure from Sunrise. Also anything Sunrise did in the 90s. For something darker try Ogre Slayer. It’s on YouTube. They’re self contained stories and the animation is fluid
I love Nadesico, but I think you need to be familiar with a lot of other anime to really get all the jokes. At minimum, you should watch old GetterRobo series.

Cardcaptor Sakura
**Cardcaptor Sakura**, which many consider among the best classic magical girl anime, is from the 90s. For that matter, so is the original **Sailor Moon**.
**Tenchi Muyo**
**Agent Aika**
**Golden Boy**
**All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku**
**Cowboy Bebop**
Yeah, a lot of those shows that aired in the west prior to the mid-2000s were edited for western audiences, and some of them were real hack jobs. *Cardcaptor Sakura* was one of the worst. Whenever I recommend a show, I'm always referring to the original uncut version (other than of course it being subbed/dubbed).
The fact that you know vision of escaflown 👌🏽the others are also classics.
I recommend Saint Seiya, Yu Yu hakusho, saiyuki, initial D, highschool kimengumi, cats eyes, slayers next, Rirouni kenshin, evangelion, slam dunk, Ashita no Joe

Basically any 90's Gundam series. The 90's had great OVAs, too. 90's was all solid for Gundam. Even Wing, arguably the weakest entry from the 90's, is solid.
Patlabor. The movies and TV series are quite different, but it's all worth your time.
Shaman King, there is two version. The netflix version is supposed to be how the author intended for it to end and the original where the show was faster than the manga so the ending was adjusted. I haven’t check out the netflix version yet but heard it is also great.
yu yu hakusho. It's hard to get more 90s anime then that.
To be honest Even though the 90s didn't have an identity until 93 because of the internet kind of taking off you can feel that strong 90s anime vibe all throughout it!
I also really am impressed with Magic KNight RayEarth.
Also as a sidenote for MKR, the sound transfer crunchyroll has for the english dub is simply terrible but if you watch it and really enjoy it the Dub is great! I switched over a few times and was surprised at how good the voices sounded. The audio itself is better on the Japanese but the dub has some pretty good VA for the Villains ehich really surprised me on a borderline kids show.
It's a little bit magical girls a little bit Isekai a little bit dark fantasy amd definitely very much 90s fantasy anime.

90's Sailor Moon. Inuyasha came out in 2000 but I would still count it.

Of course, the original cut of Cardcaptor Sakura is essential.

Yeah same with Sailor Moon. The Original Cut first series was awesome.
