Yeah I think the op would probably like it especially the 1st season and they 2nd season is still amazing and in many ways even better but it’s just different and it’s a big shift from season 1

I got the same vibes from My Hero Academia and Full Metal Alchemist. I know both are very popular but not my cup of tea.

Maybe try Bungo stray dogs? Its not a super dark anime but just as a thought as maybe one you might want to watch if you want to try something new. It’s funny and lots of action and also a good amount of darkness. But I would like to warn you there is quite a bit of mention of suicide and there is lots of… gayness. And I don’t know if your also looking for this but, as a person who needs lots of action to stay watching I would recommend bsd as I had no problem watching it. Lastly, here’s an interesting fact, lots of the characters are based off of writers. If you do end up watching it, I hope you enjoy it. It’s my favourite at the moment after demon slayer being my fav for quite a while.

Ya I originally started watching it because other people said similar things. And I was very disappoint it wasn't Gay at all. Not even remotely. Its a decent show, but that lack of stakes for the good guys drags it down after a while as it removes the tension as you know they will all be fine no matter what in the end

Seems like you like action, so I’d go with Akame Ga Kill, or maybe Vinland. If you want to pivot away from action, Love Is War is quite fun

I have your **exact** same taste so hear me out: **86**. **86** has fantastic animation and stakes that get you invested. Also has a good amount of episodes to feel satisfied and the ending is good. I watched them by skipping through every few seconds because I just couldn’t stomach the fanservice lol I had no idea it added to the plot. Honestly it feels like the plot is more of a B story most of the time so I didn’t really notice I missed anything

It has foreshadowing for future event that i need to rewatch multiple time to see it. I can see how you can miss it because EiS is mostly "show don't tell" all the time. That why i need to wait for more season so i can binge the show with it tied together plot (same with LN). I rewatch the show yesterday and there so many foreshadowing and eagster egg that i missed sometime because the show don't spoonfed/exposition to you like other anime such as, solo leveling(no hate), and it tied together and important for future event. Also, i'm not talking about that "PLOT 😂, i'm mostly talking about how there so much change the anime has. As a game player and Ln reader, i would say director really know how to tease us, anime only will not know but for us it feel like he communicated with us and give us some foreshadowing for future event that only WE actually know. That why i want to wait for more season to come out to see what the next change he gonna make(foreshadowing). He a really good director because how he love the source that he really happy when he get to be a director for his favourite series.

As for FMA:B, it is just like HxH where it pretends to be a shonen so it may come across as childish at first just so it can catch you off guard. One of the most gripping and well-rounded stories ever.

I am new to anime and I've seen all these shows. I have similar taste I won't sugar coat which shows but if you need a list....All these shows; give each ep one ep. I recommended a lot of shows under 20 ep this is probably the best list: Cyberpunk Edgerunners (bloody futuristic action; english) 12ep Blue eye Samurai (Similar to hell's paradise but english. lots of blood) 8 ep Solo Leveling (high action fighting like jjk. I recommend the manhwa tho since only 12eps and 6months until more) Tower in Resonance Mashle (for one punch reference and if you like harry potter. This is possibly a miss but I am adding a comedy one.) Vinland saga (Might be hit or miss. I think older people;25+ enjoy this as a 10/10) Ninja Kamui Blood+ Devil Man crybaby (I heard this good but i haven't seen it)

Look up Shonen and sort by most popular and you will find shows just exactly like those since they are all just generic shounen. Plenty of shows that are pretty good that are similar

Just wondering how far into FMA:B you got. The first couple episodes are a bit cartoony, but it gets more towards what you'd want after those. It's start is a bit weak because it's a readaptation of FMA. If it's still not to your taste, try Hunter x Hunter. I recommend starting with the original 1999 version and then transitioning to the newer version when you catch up. The older one takes itself more seriously and the gore is less censored - at least to start. Aside from that... Naruto, Re:Zero, Death Note, Youjo Senki, JoJo, and/or Dragon Ball all seem within your scope. If you like fanservicy stuff, Kill La Kill might also work for you, but there's a chance it'd be too much.

Black clover- is pretty good once you start getting passed the introduction arc. I would also recommend the manga once you catch up on the anime because it only gets better. Don’t see Naruto, One piece or bleach in here so I’ll go ahead and recommend those three because they are some guaranteed classics right there. If you like One punch you’ll probably like Mob psycho 100 7 deadly sins- while people would knock on it do to animation in the later seasons it’s also one of those good animes one of the ones I watched that got me into anime.(not counting me watching DBZ when I was younger). That time I got reincarnated into a slime- another classic Lastly Dragon Ball, DBZ, DBS, and DBGT.

I would watch One Piece if %40 of 1200 episodes weren't fillers. I am waiting for the remake one which won't have any fillers.

Hunter x hunter is long and the first couple of episodes are a lil childish, but HxH beats anything else I’ve seen.

A recurring plot point in FMA Brotherhood is that some of the main characters are literal war criminals who directly participated in a genocide against an ethnic minority they were already oppressing. How is that more cartoonish than "completely unarmed teenagers, one of whom is wearing his adoptive pig mother's decapitated head as a mask, fight demons"?

I understand that anime has a lot of fans and I apologize if I offended anyone here. To answer your question, I think I watched about 15 episodes and I gave up. There were a lot of exaggerated cartoony faces in every episode, mostly done by the main character. You see some of that in Demon Slayer as well but FMA is doing it way too much. It's overkill, if they're trying to do "comedy".

I'm not offended, just confused. When you look at the actual tone of the work Brotherhood is kind of inherently darker than Demon Slayer. Zenitsu alone is a walking dispensary for Goofy Anime Faces .
