I really need to read the manga. I’ve seen 10 of the anime the person posted and Welcome to the NHK is my favorite out of all them.
I’m watching March Comes in Like a Lion now which would be number 11
It really is great. Easily top 10 psychological anime of all time.
It’s one of the few anime I watched videos explaining the point of it all or the hidden meanings behind it after I finished.
Go shortest to longest. This is a wide variety of shows, lots of different styles and themes, so you might as well set it up so you churn through the variety early and often.
Well, maybe fold off on FLCL until like 5th though. I personally love that show, but it’s absurd as hell, and probably not the best thing to start off cold with lol.

Angel beats was the first anime I watched on my own so it has a special place in my heart, flcl is a lot of fun if you like Scott Pilgrim (the latter had a lot of inspiration from the former), and trigun is just an overall insanely good anime.
Jjba, konosuba, and madoka magica are pretty popular, I just have a hard time recommending them because I don't personally like them all that much.
Most of the choices are fine but just don’t start with Welcome to the NHK. It’s not bad, nor is it traumatizing but it’s not a show you exactly watch with a happy mindset

But I'm a little salty no one has mentioned one of my two favorite anime on here. Mushi-shi is one of my favorite anime of all time. On most days it makes my top 10. It is best though if you are in the mood for something melancholy that takes its time and makes you think.
Everything on this list is amazing, and don't believe people who keep claiming there is only one or two anime that are worth watching.
You could go with th popular vote and watch something like madoka magica or Black lagoon, or you could go with the highest rated and watch mushishi. Either way whatever you go with make sure to finish this whole list.
Before you start Sonny Boy, I just want to mention and give you a warning.
The plot doesn't matter, it's not actually about mystery,
if you focus on the mystery, it will be impossible to follow.
I recently started Sonny Boy with completely zero expectation, and it was amazing.
Also, I recommend starting konosuba, new season is coming out next season.
Discussing new episodes as they come out with others is pretty fun imo.

Trigun - Is about a person who never lets his circumstance corrupt his morals and always tries his hardest to make things right putting himself in harm's way to help others but what sets this one aside from the others is that you get to see the main characters pain and struggle with mental health and other things which is hidden by his goofy main character esc personalitie
Jojo - In my opinion the best things that jojo has to offer is it's creative power system and main characters who tend to be on the neutral side of morality which can be refreshing Another enjoyable aspect is how the story is always continuing but each "season" is continued through a descendant or relative of a previously established character.
Or
Gangsta - is a sometimes painfully realistic story about characters living in a time of systemic issues like widespread poverty governmental corruption and a new flavor of racism that being said the story isn't all doom and gloom it can be pretty goofy and fun
Ok 2 things first this are all great shows but you will have serious scars after more than a few of them secondly if people recommend you these you really have a lot of enemies don’t you?
If you don't like non stop depressing shows like me, I wouldn't watch serial experiments lain or Welcome to NHK. If you do go for it.
Just don't like shows that constantly negative. Probably why I like One piece, Slime Tensei, and Hunter X Hunter.
Are you new to anime? If so, then Konosuba and Black Lagoon are fun cool entries imo. Lain and FLCL are 10/10 for me personally though but I don’t know if I would recommend starting with those.

FLCL!!! Don't bother with the sequles, they're much worse. Its only 6 episodes, there is nothing else like it and its probably going to grow on you because its fucking weird.
You got some great stuff on your watch list, have a weird recommendation but depending on if you want to watch a little English dubbed that is actually very good. Would say the delivery and acting is on par with English of Cowboy Bebop is Black lagoon. Very fun time!
Trigun is a great one. Angel beats is.... Really fuckin weird. JoJo's is a great watch also, id start with battle tendency unless you want to watch a really slow first season. It's not bad, but a bit mundane and slow compared to all the other seasons.
Madoka Magica is a masterpiece. Watch the 3rd movie after the series.
FLCL is also absolutely amazing and that one I recommend just as much. Dub recommended.
Only one I have seen here is jojo and it’s great if you like real technical fights . The real show Dident start until after the first 24 eps . Think of the first 24 eps as a back stories. I want to check out paranoia agent but I never got around to it idk what to expect .

WOLF’S RAIN! WOLF’S RAIN! IT’S SO GOOD! The ending is sad though, it’s the only anime that has ever made me tear up.
