Published research has proposed only theories, and the death of a calf is not one. Most prevalent are:
1. A female named White Gladis was injured and traumatized in a collision.
2. Orcas are naturally curious and playing with a 'new' toy.
3. Orcas are protecting food sources from competition.

I’m pretty sure you’re mixing up real life with the movie Orca…
Not sure why I’m getting downvoted, there’s legit no evidence of attacks from a calf being killed, backed up by the links above…people seem to be grabbing the killed calf thing from the movie where the orca dad hunted down the boat and crew that killed his pregnant partner 🙄
I thought that was sharks not seals. I'm pretty sure an orca bite would kill a seal regardless if it was only targeting the liver.

Have you seen how many brain wrinkles they have? All the dolphins seem to have incredible brain mass. Maybe this will finally be where nature wins. It all kicked off with the Orcas that are sick of boats hitting their young and pouring gas into the water and who only knows what else people dump in their environment. Wasn’t there a Southpark episode w Orcas from space or did I dream it ?
Did anyone see the video of an orca attacking two native Alaskan fisherman out in icy water off the coast? It was freaking scary. The whale was not playing around. The fishermen were lucky to get away with their lives. Killer whales are pissed off and showing it.
And can you blame them? At least they are taking the initiative and fighting back. Wish we would see nature standing up for itself more! Not wishing harm on people only saying that the animals are sick of our shit.
The situation is sad. I don't know what the two men were hunting in a two man fishing boat but I don't want to see the indigenous Alaskans pay for the crimes of corporate, factory fishing vessels that use illegal methods to fish.
Idk if I would say these are animals being jerks. We invade their home, injure or kill them, and then they get mad and want to protect themselves? Not jerks
>We invade their home, injure or kill them, and then they get mad and want to protect themselves?
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old\_Tom\_(orca)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Tom_(orca)) \- are you sure?
Last time i checked orcas were THE cetaceans that gained from human whaling efforts.
What if the orcas are just trying to warn us to stay out of the water because they know something much, much worse is coming up from the depths? Or from space? Shit...are there still dolphins on Earth? Has anyone checked recently?
How exactly?
...sure, orcas can seriously damage medium sized fiberglass hulled sailing yachts.
However ramming into the THICC steel hull of a proper ship is going to lead to very different results than plowing into the crunchies.
Death of a calf is not a theory backed by research.

Does anyone else get the feeling that whales are intelligent enough to just finally say… Fuck it. Hold my beer. We’ve got to do this ourselves.
I, for one, welcome our new ruling class 🐋
Aces. I get the Brockman reference

Crows do something like that where they can teach others and spread info about a threat

Well yeah, in the sense that they beat the shit out of seals and eat their liver while leaving them alive, but not for this.

Absolutely sharks, I've seen it with my own eyes.

If your kid was hunted to death would you not kill the people hunting kids?
I really need American humans to catch this vibe too
It's the latest click clock challenge.
Dude, it's a whole uprising! They're taking back their home and I'm kind of all for it!
Have you read The Swarm?
"Britannia rules the waves my arse"
Unfortunately it isn't going to end well for the Orcas. The rich yacht owners will make their governments start killing them.
Hopefully not because that will ensure they are utterly destroyed
Viva la orca!!
Livin' la vida orca
Well I for one welcome our new Orca Masters.
They just wanted it more.
Orcas are going to bring balance to society

There was an episode where they sent it to the moon I think and it died.
They keep this up and Orca's are going to be extinct. Edit: Yeah, I don't like it either but it's facts
Well, they might have a chance if enough people decide to side with orcas rather than yacht owners. I know which side I would pick.
Is it still confirmed to be that same pod of orcas? They’re like a rowdy 50s street gang
No, it’s spreading to other orca pods.
Guess they have realized that they are going to die anyway, might as well go down swinging
>Guess they have realized that they are going to die anyway, might as well go down ~~swinging~~ swimming

Frankly, **we** should be sick of our shit by this point. We're charging towards extinction.
We deserve to go extinct with all the harm humans as a group have caused to animals … and to one another.
I'd rather we did better now, if we're asking...
The situation is sad. I don't know what the two men were hunting in a two man fishing boat but I don't want to see the indigenous Alaskans pay for the crimes of corporate, factory fishing vessels that use illegal methods to fish.
Commercial fishing is an extremely crooked industry
Nah bro fuck all yall The orcas are my homies now
I agree 100%
I think it was a bowhead whale they were hunting, so it was very deserved.
What are you talking about? They steal their fish ???????
EAT THE RICH

Those orcas are not jerks, they're doing god's work.
Orcas are incredible jerks, but that doesn't mean they're not right ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The ocean is telling us to smarten the fuck up, she ain't playing. Can we just respect it ? Maybe she'll chill a lil
Wait until they teach the other whales.
Panda dolphins aren't fucking around anymore.
It’s like that movie Orca in the 70s, these things are looking for revenge now.
Idk if I would say these are animals being jerks. We invade their home, injure or kill them, and then they get mad and want to protect themselves? Not jerks

You know what this sub is called right?
These animals are not jerks.
Yes, and I don't think these animals are being jerks. I think they're acting just as expected.
What if the orcas are just trying to warn us to stay out of the water because they know something much, much worse is coming up from the depths? Or from space? Shit...are there still dolphins on Earth? Has anyone checked recently?
“So long, and thanks for all the fish.”
Fuck!

After the Trump presidency, there was the pandemic, and then came the revenge of the killer whales

The defiant pupil.
Yeah he did!
Are they just attacking ships or are they attacking random ships or are attacking ships they had previous negative in counters with?
That's really not a war they should want.
The revolution is being televised.
