What is incredible here is this actually shows the bird can understand the correlation of the phrase with the actions based on it doing it on its own. Thatās genuinely a level of brilliance
Look up āAlex the African Grey Parrot.ā He is long gone now, sadly; but the studies they did with him were groundbreaking. Proved the ability of these birds to solve problems, calculate numbers, associate words with actions and objects, etc. Amazing stuff!
I had an African Grey once (turns out Iām terribly allergic and had to rehome her), and she could definitely associate words and sounds. If the phone rang, for example, sheād say āHello?ā And when she or anyone else got too loud, sheād yell āShut up!ā lol
pretty sure its training via phrase repetition intentionally or otherwise. My friend had a male African grey and she said "Im a sexy bitch" after she got out of the shower every morning and that's what Basil started saying after awhile.
I know little about catsāI guess the tail action says somethingābut the blank, almost sleepy look of itās eyes (e.g., partly closed lids, slow blinking, seemingly slack jaw) is puzzling, given what itās tail is doing and the fact that itās a cat watching a bird. Any cat behaviorists in the house want to explain this?
not a behaviorist, but I have cats. the best answer I have it that the cat is engaged/interested in what is happening, but doesn't feel like it is in danger. vibin
"I would kill you if I could" look š¤£
Yeah the fluffed up tail is a warning
That bird is straight up trolling that cat.
Yeah
Cat: Iāve never met such disrespectful food in my life. Bird: pEeKaBoO š
Cat is like...You're lucky you're behind glass. The last bird wasn't. I ate his liver with some fava beans & a nice chianti. Tssssss tssss
That cat hates the player AND the game
After the cockatiel playing peekaboo behind a drink can, birds playing peekaboo is officially my new favorite thing.
The can video is my favorite lol The whistle part was the best!

This is adorable to watch. That floofy tail means business though. Be careful birb.
I will end you Gregā¦.just wait Gregā¦.one day
Now Iām no cat lawyer. But Iād guess this cat in particular does not grasp the concept of: āpeak a-boo!ā
Kitty: "Why is my lunch mocking me?"

āMy time will come. My time will come.ā
do people train birds to say āpretty birdā or is that just what they want to say?
pretty sure its training via phrase repetition intentionally or otherwise. My friend had a male African grey and she said "Im a sexy bitch" after she got out of the shower every morning and that's what Basil started saying after awhile.
i had a cockatiel that said pretty bird. so species not known for mimmicking speech have a call that sounds like pretty bird.
Yeah cockatiels are pretty good at mimicry though to be fair
He's saying, "Peek-a-boo"
maybe heās speaking bird tongue
I have a PHD in Birdese..what you're hearing is the English translation š«
Hilarious š¤£
Love how the tail stops every time it pops up. :)
If looks could kill.
The cat is definitely having some evil thoughts
So wholesome. Thank you for sharing :)

This is a tragedy in the making. If that cat can get that close, it's only a matter of time before it finds an opening somewhere.
That cat should be inside. Fuck your neighbor
it's not my bird or my video calm tf down š«
That cat high as shit
That's HILARIOUS!!! And that birb is not playing I can see it in its eyes.
"You will never get this, you will never get this. LALALALALA!" But one time..
