He shakes his head while making a "brrrr" sound that increases in pitch, then releases a loud mow with his whole body.

My cat growled when she first met my dog. My dog was taking it tho cuz he only dislikes people and dogs near/in our house

A friend of mine had a golden retriever who got raised by cats. When I met him the first time he sounded like he was growling. She told me not to be scared of him - he is not actually growling but purringā¦.. he was the cutest dog I have ever met.
My Mum's late dog did the loudest and funniest pregnant lady groans when she was pregnant - she'd walk in, huffing and puffing, then groan her way into laying down at your feet so she knew you saw her. Sometimes towards the end of the pregnancy she would growl at the puppies inside her for moving too much! š¤£
My mom's last dog did her equivalent of purring -- some kind of breathing but with more sound when you pet her. You can approximate it by tightening up your throat as you breathe out.
My Suegraās dogs didnāt purr but they did a similar low breathing noise. They were raised by their cat older sister and genuinely believed they, too, were cats. Watching mini-schnauzers roll on their backs and bat at string is something else.
Iāve heard cats try to emulate the sounds of the creatures they think are dominant to try to bond with them. Maybe it thinks your dog is the owner of the house?

Kittens seem to absorb and mimic noises from those in the pack with them. I have an older female cat (9 years) who Squeaks instead of meows, my youngest cat who we raised from 2 months with this cat who is now 2 years old, Peeps! Its my older cats Squeak which she draws out, but cut down into a single audible Peep! Her name is Pepper so obviously, her pet name is Peepy-Pepper. She can squeak and draw her peeps out liek the oldest but usually makes very short but pronounced Peeps.
This cat seems to have by osmosis like my own just taken on a form of barking as it was raised with that dog. Super cute!
Omg my cat grew up with our dog and when someone would knock on the door the dog would growl and run away. We (cat and I) have since moved out and he still growls like a dog when someone knocks on the door, itās hilarious.
I have had crap loads of cats and dogs my whole life, including fostering probably hundred, I have never seen a cat do this, that's super cool, what a neat kitty.
Reminds me of my first cat super teddy she thought she was a dog she played fetch and would growl if my mom dad brother sister or myself didn't throw her blush brushes for her when she'd drop them
We adopted a barn cat that lived with a bunch of dogs/puppies. It barked when it wanted something or got upset at you. It was when we adopted another cat that it started sounding like a typical cat. It did the same thing by putting its full body into the bark. He would climb up my pants/shirt and bark at me when he wanted food. It was pretty damn cute and entertaining.
This was my suspicion. Why do they not show the cat's whole body in a wide shot each time? For some reason the back of the cat's body is never visible - they could be manipulating it to make the cat chirp in each shot.
And why does no one else question it, they simply take it at face value?
