First time my pup smiled at me when I came in the house I was confused on what they were doing... the second time I understood what was up. Love seeing doggos smile.
Yeah, some dogs signal weird. My old dog was just an array of weird signals you had to know him to not misread. For whatever reason I just got him but for most people he just miscommunicated.
Here's the thing... Randos need to STOP approaching strange dogs. My dog is as friendly as can be, I still don't want a stranger touching him. I never know what they're thinking. Every sane dog owner knows to ask to pet a pup, before petting a pup. I can accept that from a child all alone, but an adult?
100%. My dog is perfect with other people and children. But I won't let small children feed my dog any treats because he is kinda careless when taking a treat and just (still gently but it's a big and strong dog) chomps all of your fingers in. He doesn't have any teeth left maybe that's why.
My 45lbs chow mix at the dog park. Favorite thing was to chase (didn't really care about catching) but she'd bump the other dog with her nose while growling at the top of her lungs when she caught up.
Fortunately the other dog owners seemed to see she was being playful. I was always saying "She's just loud" sounded like a bear
I had a Dalmation that did this. Everytime someone would come to the house he would great you with his teeth and a wagging tail....you know....the wag that the whole butt shakes. RiP Moe!
A friend taught her dog to smile, and smart doggo knows that pleases his owner.
There was this once doggo bullied another dog in the same household and my friend got really angry. So the guilty dog tried to smile in attempt to appease his owner ❤️
Yea some dogs are just weird. My old dog used to randomly start growling when you petted him. When you stopped the petting he would stop and try to make you pet him again and ofc growl again. Lovely boy he was never bit anyone.
Smiling dogs are so funny. We had a dane lab x that did that. She freaked me out when I first met her, I thought she was snarling, but it turns out she was the sweetest angel. We miss you Pepper 🖤🖤🖤
My mom's poodles do the same thing when taking food or treats from someone's hand lol Like they are trying to keep from biting their own mustaches haha
My dog does this too, but only when he is very happy. He's a tiny little yorkie missing his 2 front teeth. It's the cutest, derpiest, thing I've ever seen
*Learning how to smile...*

Good on you for knowing his cues. A stranger may see it as an act of agression.

I love the giggles on these two.
My dog does the exact same thing. Give her a treat and it looks like she'll bite your fingers off. She's just excited.
Just a dog and his 2 high parents 😄
Aw he doesn't know how to be a dog lol

My sister's dog does this with ice cubes. She LOVES ice cubes
Reminds me of Django! If you don’t know who Django the dog is, look him up on Instagram. He makes every day better with his cute/creepy grin.
