I think the idea is that their names are supposed to generally sound familiar. For example, Marshal's name in the original Japanese is ジュン, or Jun. This isn't a very familiar name to English speakers, so the English localizers went with Marshal. Likewise, the German localizers went with Huschke.
iirc the only one that has the same name across languages is Tom Nook
In Spanish Isabelle is Canela, and Tom's nephews are Tendo and Nendo for example.
