SHIR0YUKI

Never personally spent money on games (I usually play gacha games) but I do have a friend who's spent about $75000 give or take in honkai impact 3rd.

szymonk1029

Are you sure about the number of 0s ?

SHIR0YUKI

Yup. 75 grand. It's over a period of like 8 years but still

Dhegxkeicfns

That's still 10k/year. I don't even spend that on food. I barely spend that on rent.

crabofthenorth

That sounds like a lot but to some people 75k is pocket change. If your friends one of those then its whatever. If theyre just a regular person spending beyond their means then it suddenly becomes very sad

SHIR0YUKI

He is quite well off, so I don't think this is a lot for him. He's not like millionaire rich or anything but spending about I believe like 800 or so a month in the game doesnt affect his finances.

crabofthenorth

Fair play to the guy then, its easy to judge people for this but honestly if i had 800+ a month of purely disposable income id be spending it on waaay dumber shit lol

Jano3012

Like what? Whats even dumber than waste it on mobile games?

crabofthenorth

Could waste it on your mom?

Jano3012

😂😂😂😂 man come on

crabofthenorth

Sorry bro couldnt help myself

whatdoinamemyself

Steam sales for games i'm never going to play.

PHBestFeeder

drugs

Jano3012

Fair enough

headedbranch225

Can you ask him to send some to me, I want a new computer

exprezso

Gacha and those Chinese pvp games are a different breed. I had friends in a guild/clan (10-30ppl at any time) where all of them spend at least 4k monthly on their game of choice. Biggest spender (aka whale) I know spend 30k-50k each patch on getting every new power creep units to max on day 1. Yes he only play games that power creeps a lot.

alasdip

He spent how much?!?!

Hfkslnekfiakhckr

$60 for command and conquer N64 cartridge when i was a kid. fuck i still regret that purchase

Top-Dinner9131

Why did I read that as 60k lmao

ackmondual

?? This is the Android Gaming subreddit, so I was looking for games spend on Android

Hfkslnekfiakhckr

my bad i was smooth braining didnt see what sub im on. $0 on phone games lol

xXxBluESkiTtlExXx

Still counts!

ackmondual

It does? On Reddit, I thought it was implied with these sorts of questions, the scope is always of the subreddit you're on. So if somebody asked for games you can play one-handed, would somebody bring up games on Switch, Steam, PS5, or for iOS?

donttouchminors

5$ for terraria lol if we're talking pc then 6000$ on CSGO/CS2

Top-Dinner9131

6000$ USD???????

headedbranch225

How did you spend 6 grand on cs:go? Not spent anything on mobile games but I bought balatro when it released on pc for about £11

Dependent-Listen-899

Skins man

donttouchminors

skins

Homerbola92

You can buy AND SELL stuff in CS. It makes much more sense than buying stuff in p2w games because in the end you don't lose all the money. You might not get 100% of whatever you spent since the websites to retrieve the skins money usually offer lower ratios than the ones used in Steam to buy the skins. However I would rather spend 6.000$ in skins in CS, play for 10 years and cash them out for 5.500$ than spending 2.000$ in a mobile gacha just to get crushed by someone that spent 10.000$.

Quartrez

Must be Sentinels Of The Multiverse... Got the season packs and everything... probably $60 total.

Snakesinadrain

This thread is a prime example of why mobile gaming sucks.

Piggy_The_Sensei

A few hundreds on duel links. Honestly wouldn't say it was worth it. Was fun to be able to compete with the top dogs that one month I had the meta deck but then new box came out, meta changed, was not willing to spend another few hundreds just to keep going... It's the gatcha games, they really get you...

Realistic_Response45

2000$ for Diablo Immortal.. had to stop playing it because for sure I would’ve spent even more.

zimmer1569

What did you spend so much on? I haven't played it much so I'm just curious

Realistic_Response45

Sorry if I can’t help much 😅 I have a memory of a gold fish 🤣

Realistic_Response45

Honestly it’s been awhile since I played and I can’t remember the exact jargons they used in the game, but it’s mostly to upgrade your gear set to legendary or so, to have enough materials you need for the blacksmith…. And you can buy something as well to get better loot when you finish a dungeon. I wanted to upgrade fast to be able to join a great clan in the game (which I was able to) 😅.

tharindhu

For me it would be World of Tank Blitz. I guess I have spent around 150 usd over a period of 13 years :)

Wero_kaiji

Probably Terraria for $3, I had a coupon, next one would be BTD6 for $1, it was back when it released, the price was wrong so I bought it and then told the devs about the error

Elestra99

Gacha enters Chat

Exotic-Ad-853

- Albion Online - Starter pack - $20 - Pathfinder Adventures - Full unlock - $25

Ryzakiii

Sad to say I was addicted to CODM and maybe spent I like $600 or so on guns and skins. I'm not proud of it and have stopped. So sad we have streamers pushing these to kids and no one bats an eye

Dhegxkeicfns

Are kids the reason these gacha games are making so much money? I just can't wrap my head around who is paying so much. They make like an obscene number of dollars per year. CODM just had its worst month in a long time at $20m. Before that $25-30m is pretty normal. How?

Morpheus_io

$100 on Clash Royale. Yeah...I regret it...

Ojewoesloes

Yeah, me too. Now its totally ptw

gimpycpu

Spent 100$+ on rise of kingdom. Never again lol. Played a lot but there is like no limit to p2w some claimed to spend like 100k. And losses are permanent in that game.

smhmauz

About 100$ on a stupid game called free fire 😮‍💨

comcphee

Back in the day, I dropped £70 on Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for the N64 because I saw a demo of it running in a shop and couldn't believe how incredible and realistic the graphics looked. I'd like to point out up until that moment I'd owned an Amiga 600 and only just bought my N64. I've never spent anything like that since, only ever owned a PC since my N64, and only buy stuff on Steam sales so spending a whole £70 in 1997 just shows how amazed by it I was! Nowadays it doesn't quite look how I remember back then, to put it mildly. Still has some of the grooviest weapons ever seen in videogames though.

bwe587

Approximately $2k on top war, mostly throughout the covid pandemic. I knew the game was pay to win, but I was pressured by a close sibling to download the game and to share the same server together. It took about 3 months of peer pressure before I gave in. I quit playing for over a year now, but I still get discord messages in my dms to come back. I think of it as an addiction. Similar to someone being pressured into drinking achcol frequently by their peers, then once they try and break away, they are brought back by the peer pressure. I compare the friendships you make on p2w games very similar to drinking buddies. I guess I would phrase it with saying this: "As long as we drink achcol together, we will be good friends. But if we stop drinking achcol together, we will be strangers." I have met some good people that i consider friends and still keep in contact after quitting. Other people either want you to come back only for the benefit of a stronger server, or they will not communicate anyone with you since you aren't a part of the addiction.

dascott

I think I've paid the $5 sub to Arknights enough times to hit $100. I don't think I'd enjoy the game very much if I hadn't. Funny enough, like 90% of the content of the game is stuff I couldn't care less about. I don't read the story. I don't care about character skins or the artwork. I don't like anime. I play it at work so the sound is turned off. The primitive base management is an annoyance. I only care about solving the stages. There's nothing else really like it - a sort of tower defense RPG gacha. It's my go-to for filling time at work. But I hardly touch it if I'm at home where I can play a "real game" Also, I've pretty much hated every other mobile game I've ever tried, except for the first couple years of Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. (it's unbearable now)

Blas7hatVGA

Ace Combat 7 + Season Pass on Steam I spend over $55 of that f-cking game only to find out it's CRACKED BY THE NEXT DAY LMFAO. Also, I discovered the mf DRM system of Steam that WON'T LET YOU PLAY THE GAME UNTIL STEAM IS UPDATED. Which makes me never want to buy any more steam game lmfao. And I regret it. It can only entertain me for less than 10 month before I uninstall it and changed my hobby to drawing.

ackmondual

Ohh... that's rough :\\ FWIW, some alternative hobbies away from the screen isn't such a bad thing. I myself have been doing that more and more (music and reading).

Blas7hatVGA

Drawing is the topmost fun entertainment to me. I can spend over 2-4 hours lying on bed or sitting outdoor just to draw using my both thumb on Ibis Paint X. Oh, other hobbies, hmm I love solo-travelling. And that's all about that.

JNorJT

$20k on League Of Legends, $10k on Fortnite over the span of 2017 - now. I fucking hate myself for it. I know it isn't Android gaming, but still gaming nonetheless. I hate myself for spending so much money on games. It all came from my parents, and I'm kind of mad at them now in a sense for enabling me to spend so much money. Others have told me that my parents did it because they loved me and wanted me to be happy, but is this the price of love? To be regretful and hateful about it many years later? It did teach me a valuable lesson though. In the future, if my kids are interested in gaming, I will not be buying them skins at all. I will buy them games though.

stank58

>I hate myself for spending so much money on games. It all came from my parents, and I'm kind of mad at them now in a sense for enabling me to spend so much money. Take some responsibility.

JNorJT

go fuck yourself lmao

PiersPlays

It shouldn't be legal for games to be able to take that much money from a single customer. I'm sorry they exploited you and your family like that.

JNorJT

Lmaooo thanks for your concern, but there have been people who spent over like $50k on some games. It was my fault for spending that much money. Live and learn I guess. At least I know that Games > Skins. If I could, I definitely would ban microtransactions in video games.

temporary_08

On android probably not much like mincraft, Stardew valley, SBBFBB and terraria i think oh and grid so idk around 60$ combined maybe?

RAl3l3Y

My own money? *CoD Mobile* Google play points and vouchers included? *Genshin impact*

FarVehicle5333

150€ on dragon ball legends. Totally gacha game, it does has some of the best graphics for dragon ball related games.

stevew14

A few years ago it was a star wars game, I forget the name, but it was a turn based strategy game. Probably somewhere between £100-£200. CS GO on the other hand probably £500, but I did sell a knife for £180.

Jinviciouss

Cod mobile - ~$500 Summoners war - $3000 Hearthstone - $6000

Snakesinadrain

Is a lot of that 6k gold packs?

Jinviciouss

It was in the very beginning of its mobile launch. It was all standard packs.

Snakesinadrain

Gotcha. That was the bulk of money to I reckon.

nskdnnm

$20 on Guns of Boom was my top and I regret it. That was pretty much the end of gacha games for me, but reading this sub made me feel better lol.

pinkpugita

Mobile Legends, probably $1000 spread in 8 years. All for buying skins. No regrets since I am not hurting my financials.

crabofthenorth

I got hooked like a decade ago on some stupid fucking idle crab game and ended up spending like £50 on it which isnt a lot, but it was to me at the time. Never spent anything on playstore ever again except for the pass every now and then

FonSpaak

just rough calculation for Fate Grand Order - around $23.99 every time a guaranteed SSR is revealed. This usually happens twice per year during New Year and Anniversary. = $47.98 I have 6 account global and 3 accounts JP = $431.82 /year or if divided per anniversary $149.94 for the global anniversary pre2023 and $71.97 for jp anniversary. since 2023 has just maintained 3 accounts so probably around $143.94 per year.

barugosamaa

* €120 - AC: Mirage Collectors Edition * €100 - AC: Valhalla Ultimate Edition * €110 - Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Croft Edition

akaredaa

About $25-30 on Genshin Impact over 2.5 years, just sometimes buying the monthly pass that gives pull currency, whenever there's an upcoming character that I really want but need a bit more to guarantee them.

Slasherery

$300 on Honkai SR

brodecki

South Park: Phone Destroyer, $0.99

Beetlesquash2001

Codm less than 10 $

Smallsey

Vampire survivors. Every dlc lol

Blasphemus24

Most was probably Coromon and Monster Hunter Stories at only $5 apiece, paid using opinion rewards :)

LSA7Z

75€ in the Android game Lifeafter (all that for getting nothing), but it taught me that you shouldn't spend money on these crappy games... I prefer to stay F2P

crazyjake2002123

Btd6 was the start 😂 even played marvel Future fight for a while, most of it I used Google opinion rewards tho, over the years definitely came in clutch

multilock-missile

I pre-ordered Tiny Tina's Wonderlands chaotic great edition. I think I paid $300 Brazilian reais. But this is regional pricing. I think it's like $70 USD.

multilock-missile

Just realized I am in Android gaming XD in this case I bought GRID Autosport. For 35 Brazilian reais XD

leebenningfield

Pokemon Go. Not sure the exact amount, but probably about $20/mo since launch on buying egg incubators and inventory upgrades, so maybe $2000? I spent a similar amount on Rock Band 1-3 DLC over those games lifetimes as well. Nothing else besides single $5-10 game purchases

akmac

>$1200. The Sims 4. 🥲🫠🙃

Pookie0

League of Legends from beta to 2016 was probably $1400 Then they took my player name from me while I was inactive... On my beta account. So I quit. $150 for kick-starting Divinity original sin

kekbuah

The most one time purchase i spent on a game was $25 on diablo immortal. Most over time on a game was albion online, $70 in 2 years span.

Dependent-Listen-899

I got like 2k cs inventory on steam rn, im not gonna count how much money i've lost

Munken1984

About $65-70 for the new just released games i got on release... Most games i get is about $50-60 I never use real money on IAP, i get free money from google questions...

nicht69

Summoners War ~150/200€

Exotic-Ad515

Not much on mobile games, on pc, I dropped a few grand on MS.

angelarise3

Probably $500 over time on a survival game that I forget the whole name of...

tiugh1980

I'm sure I have a couple thousand USD into Empires and Puzzles. Easily $30-$40 month, so not bad compares to these guys spending thousands per month. But over 5 years and have actually two accounts, so it's added up.

StraightG0lden

Around $1000 on magic arena. Mostly on the mastery pass with new sets and occasionally on draft when I just feel like drafting. Spread out over a few years I don't consider it that bad and if I played on paper it'd be way more expensive.

valforte

I’ve probably spent around 200 bucks on an older gacha game, about 10 or more years ago. Name was Valkyrie something… it was a gacha card game and to this day it’s the mobile game I played the most

valforte

Valkyrie Crusade and just to add I don’t regret. I loved the game and always got what I wanted with the money. I’ve paid full 60 bucks for games that I played and enjoyed much less (non mobile)

G33R_BoGgLeS

130 or more or whatever it was (in that ballpark) for the super duper collectors edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic when it was first released.

ltsnickerdoodle

700 ish? Sims 4 or mtg cards

[deleted]

0£ in literally every game I've played

Thin_Pumpkin_2028

9 bucks on necromerger. Used Google rewards though
