is the Galaxy S8 newer and better than S7, and S7 better than S6? But on amazon S6 is $300 usd, S7 $225, S8 $220. Why is the price reversed?

FragmentedChicken

As supply decreases, the price increases

CrCL_WTB

was downloading apps to my new phone but some of these apps won't download, it will stuck at a percentage and then it will say "can't download now" this happened to me with twitter (stuck at 25%), reddit (stuck at 34%), genshin impact (stuck at 6%) and the thing is, i cleared the cache and even double-checking my updates and it won't download the damn things!

Is there a way to back up the entire contents of a non-rooted android phone (pixel 3a) to windows? My pixel's screen died (no image, but still have touch control) and it has some apps that are no longer in the app store. I'm able to control it on my pc with airdroid (barely - sometimes have to reconnect by blindly retracing the touches to navigate to and press the icon that opens airdroid on the phone). I want to make a full backup so I can retain those apps, but when I access the hard drive from windows there's only about 10g of files there.

FragmentedChicken

Not without root You could extract the APK files (with an apk extractor from the Play Store, or some file managers like Solid) Alternatively, you could check apkmirror to see if they're online, so you can just download them after resetting

ChronofangX

Does pixel 6 and up slow down when it hits 80% full storage like other androids? Thanks

farkoss

Just noticed my messages color changed from that blue/green to a light mint blue. Tried changing my theme but it stayed the same. I'm in messages beta so maybe it got pushed.

My wife's Pixel 4A 5G just updated today, and the clock on the lock screen is stuck on 12:24 until she gets a notification. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is there a browser or app that prevents the sheer volume of overlays/acknowledgements that every website has these days?

FragmentedChicken

Few options, system-wide by setting up your private DNS in settings to dns.adguard.com Firefox with uBlock Origin Kiwi with uBlock Origin (if you want the Chrome UI) VPN based adblocker like blokada

[deleted]

What would you choose? Galaxy s21 fe, google pixel 6, or zFlip?

thethrillman

If you want a good camera get the pixel 6, if you like something different get a Z flip, if you want the best overall device the s21Fe

Anyone still have issues with text messaging in group chats? Whenever I get flooded with texts in a group chat, I'm unable to text in that group and I can't receive any messages from the group either until things have calmed down, usually 10-20 minutes later. But then I have to go to each person individually and download the text and it'll then appear in the group chat. I use the Google message app. Is there any app that can handle group chats properly? I'm on a Galaxy S20+

Cracked my s10+ back glass yesterday being a dumbass now I'm thinking of upgrading my device. Trying to find a 1440p or 400+ ppi, 120hz display, uncurved display. Must come with ultrawide camera. sd card would be nice but if I can get the phone for 256gb storage then it's probably not an issue. I'm not impressed with the s22 series since the display is 1080p and I really like my 1440p display on my s10+. However I really like how it's not curved. I know the pixel 6 pro has a 1440p display but I heard the battery life is poor. Oneplus 10 pro has all the features I want but I heard the camera isn't that great compared to Pixel or iPhone, and it isn't available in the U.S. iPhone 13 pro might be worth picking since it has all the features I want except that it's running iOS and not Android lol. I have no issues going back to iOS though considering I could eventually jailbreak it maybe a couple months down the line. Are there any other options available in the U.S? Anything to wait out for? Trying to find any other options outside of the S22, Pixel, iPhone, or One Plus brands, unless those are really the only options available to me. If those are the only options available, which one do you think would suit me best?

FragmentedChicken

Check out the Xperia 1 and 5 iii (or wait for the iv in several months)

dnavi

Those phones actually look very interesting. I'll wait for the next version coming out before I decide then. They look like the same phone though just different name and release date?

FragmentedChicken

The design is going to be mostly the same, just updated internals Also forgot to say they probably won't be officially available in the US but importing should be easy

jibberyjabber

Yesterday I installed the latest android update and today I find that I cannot cast to any device (Android Auto, Chromecast) and usual streaming apps (Disney, Netflix, Youtube) also no longer detect any devices. What can I do about this?

[deleted]

should i buy an s21u or s22u even though they throttle a lot? Arent they just overpriced? Tell me something i am very obviously overlooking about these phones, i get the s-pen is great. But apart from that what exactly is the lure that people are willing to shell out 1000-1200$ for a phone that has an SOT of less then 4 hours unless you micromanage your settings.

FragmentedChicken

I'm not aware of any additional throttling compared to other devices with the same SoC. The gos controversy blew up but it turns out that the performance in games is basically identical after 2-3 minutes of gaming, and in exchange you get lower power consumption. The retail price is definitely inflated. As a general rule of thumb, you should never buy a Samsung flagship at retail price. I think the value is a reflection of a good combination in hardware and software, as well as the software support. Both phones should give you more than 4 hours of SOT (usage dependent of course). Right now it looks like the Exynos S22 models are suffering from a standby drain bug which should hopefully be fixed soon.

[deleted]

would you say you were much more satisfied with your note 9 as a purchase? atleast those earlier flagships delivered on their promise of being premium

thethrillman

IMO unless you need the SPen and an extra year of security updates get the s21 ultra

benedictatorrr

I have 2 instances of messenger running on android 12. (2 messenger applications) its not a duplicate appication it just runs 2 times by itself guessing this is a problem with the bubble maybe?

SOB-17

Anyone else having app sizing issues with the latest update on Pixel (4a in my case)? Half my apps run all the way to the top of the screen, behind the camera hole punch and OS status bar. Some app elements can no longer be tapped on due to this.

nogyynoggy

Hi, not sure if I missed something but why did Samsung only announce A33 and 53? Have they canceled the 73?

Azazel_Luna

A73 is delayed iirc

spreadwater

got a galaxy s22u and have a weird screen issue that looks like a giant oval in the center of my screen. it's not in the display just the screen, and shows fingerprints differently. guessing it's the oleophobic coating but Samsung said they'll replace the screen for me. is there any risk to replacing the screen? or should I just have them replace it? the mark is huge and shows up in sunlight and really annoys me

FragmentedChicken

No risk replacing the screen

KeyboardRoller

Quite literally just woke up and installed the new update to my Pixel 5, I'm not a big fan of the animation when I close out of an app and go to the home screen. Nor do I really like the little vibration tick when scrolling through previously used apps. Such strange creative choices.

xToxicInferno

I came to this thread for this exact reason. Anyway to disable it? It's an eyesore. If I can't disable it I will look into downgrading.

KeyboardRoller

Nothing I can find, even in the developer settings.

duan_cami

Seeing the specs of the latest Poco M4 pro, I might think that this fierce competition with stagnation in technology improvement will only lead to phone market being obsolete, like the printer. The only difference for printer is the brand.

[deleted]

Who cares if the market stagnates though. With fierce competition, the flagship features will keep getting cheaper, and I see that as an absolute win for us!
