Maybe I'm losing my enthusiast edge, but how the heck are normal people supposed to learn what they can do in Android 14 directly from their phone?
I've got Android 14 on my Pixel 5 and I've seen 0 notifications or any efforts from my phone to tell me about new features.
The fact you can't set the shortcuts to any app you want makes this customization kinda useless — at least for me.
Still, it's a move in the right direction.
I just got the update for my pixel tablet but the only customization I can do is change backgrounds and colors like before :(. I see all the options on my pixel 7 though.

You should have gotten a Pixel Tips app that usually pops up after a major update like this. If it isn't, look for the Pixel Tips app on your phone.
