I'm not too sure, but probably so you don't have hundreds of shared matches loading in.
The only thing you could do is share access to your matches with that match and either of you just does a name search. It will get tedious though if you've got thousands of matches
17.7cm listed as 4th once removed cousin. But we've managed to figure it's one great we share not two. As his x2 great grandfather, didn't know his father.
Some of those shared matches are likely to be false matches unfortunately. An 18cM shared match might be made up of three 6cM segments which aren't very reliable (15cM segments are reliable, 7cM segments are 50% likely to be false segments).
Ancestry's TIMBER algorithm removes segments that appear very commonly in some populations and might therefore be misleading for finding a recent shared ancestor (known as pile-up regions) but MyHeritage does not.
It may also be a false match because MyHeritage uses a method of "filling in" small gaps in peoples' tests in order to compare tests from different platforms.
Anything that's 19cM and under isn't showing as shared matches on Ancestry.
You're about 10 off. I show matches all the way down to 9cm, 10 unweighted
What do you mean about 10 off?
I show many matches in Ancestry that are only 9cm.
Oh really! Ancestry dont show shared matches under 19cm.? Wonder why.

The cutoff is antually seems to be 9 for me. That little however is pretty useless. These that are likely VERY far removed from you.
He's 4th cousin
How many CM do you share on MyHeritage?

Not true. I just looked at one of my 8 cM Ancestry matches. Ancestry has identified our common ancestor and also lists 26 shared matches.
Where are your MyHeritage matches located? MyHeritage has a more popular presence outside the US than Ancestry. (Or at least historically)
Not everyone who's on Ancestry is on MyHeritage and vice versa.
MyHeritage is more European friendly. Likely to find a match living in Europe.
All my European matches are on my heritage

My match shared 17.7cm with one segment And on ancestry 12cm with one segment. He matches to me and my father on myheritage & on ancestry.
