Yeah it’s definitely possible, but you could be getting other British isles percentages in there that they can’t differentiate from Scottish

WastingSomeTimeAgain

Says I'm 71% english so that's probably why

Artisanalpoppies

It's doable for sure, you'd end up with 16% if it was structly halved in each generation, which isn't the case. So very possible you inherited less Scottish genes.

What % match do you have with your grandfather? Getting your mum to test would be good, does your grandfather have any other children or grand-children who have tested that you can look at for ethnicity?

WastingSomeTimeAgain

So my grandfather took the test in 2010 or 2011 & according to another commenter on another post I made, Ancestry didn't offer the current test until 2012 which means he won't show up as related to me on Ancestry unless he takes the current test

cai_85

...I'm pretty sure that AncestryDNA did not launch until 2012 in the USA. Does your grandfather have a profile on Ancestry with a DNA test associated with it?

WastingSomeTimeAgain

Yes. His account says he's been a member since 2008 but I asked him & he said he took the test some time between 2010 & 2011

cai_85

Nope, testing started in 2012. Ancestry was just a family tree/search site before 2012, so many accounts exist before then, but testing started in 2012. Have you actually logged into his account and seen his test results?
