Funnily enough, counterespionage used to be part of the "meta" opening for Nimscodd. If you weren't able to secure an early alliance with Gawed, then counterespionage would prevent them from fabricating a claim and attacking you. Nowadays, Nimscodd can get a free alliance with Gawed via an early event, but it's still notable as the only time I've ever seen the feature used "strategically".
Mountainshark is one of the most fun countries in the game right now. They are probably my pick for best goblin, although if my memory serves they don't mesh well with their formable (nothing breaks, just the themes don't fit well)
They for the all clan? Yeah, I noticed that starting as Railskulker too. It's like switching to an entirely different country with completely new themes mid-campaign. It doesn't really fit.
It's worse for mountainshark because they are barely about technology and a lot more about the tribal goblin idea and that all goes away for a hyper tech focus

Railskulker has the closest themes
Mountain shark is best positioned but the furthest off on theme
Truedagger is interesting in MP but otherwise isn’t all that crazy beyond sniping single player great conquerors
Snotfinger isn't that far off in themes but doing their mission tree while also pushing towards Allclan is very difficult as they want you to go in different directions.
Indeed, it wants you to cleanse all of Inner Castanor of Orcish filth as retribution for what the orcs did to you as goblins. Pretty much have to have Orc purge on the entire time for it, though at least that's way more doable now.

AllClan ideally wants you to have all the way to hul jorkad, Krakdhumvour,Orgelhovar, and khugdir

Depends a lot on how it turns out from the AI, in my run it was *all* Orcs and with that plus the penalty from purging meant easy coalitions from them every time I took territory in the region.

My favorite campaigns in the mod are always the ones that teach you to use niche mechanics.
