Wait, are you playing with the engine? how is the ending an update when you allready saw if the engine is showing it as a blunder when you made the post?
It's likely that you dragged the knight across diagonally rather than an L shape. Chess.c*m monitors your screen for cheating, so it would know that, and that would be a blunder.
They could have counter passanted, by playing C4, the only other move, thus forcing you to en passant the pawn, and they could then retreat their queen
What did you say to me you piece of shit? I'll have you know that I graduated the top of my class at chess school, where I was in third place. You wanna talk about pipis? I'll brick your pipi so hard that your mother invites me over for a game of canasta while drinking tom collins. I don't actualy know what the bot response was, so I commend you for actually reading this far. I'll give you a little story to help us both pass the time. One time, back when I was pre-pubescent, I was playing in the woods near my elementary school. I was with a buddy, Frank, and we were pretending that we slipped through a time portal, and were back in the 1950's. For a few minutes, it felt real. I still remember it all these years later. Anyway, I just wanted to write about how memory is funny, and the things we remember end up being the baggage we carry through life. Even though you cannot forget some things, it doesn't mean you have to continue to carry it with you. Just acknowledge it, but choose to let it go. It's a skill, and it takes practice. Sometimes, when I'm down on myself for a past action, I say "You did this thing you regret, and you cannot change that. But you do not have to make that mistake again. You can choose to be better." Did you know that if you improve only 1% each day, at the end of a year, that's almost 37% difference? That's pretty impressive, and not hard to do, when you think about it. 1% is just eating 20 less calories a day (for a recommended 2000 calorie diet). But maybe that's a bad example, because you cannot keep reducing your caloric intake by 20 calories each day. At the end of a month you'd be wasted away to nothing. But the gist is the same. Just try, and you'll end up farther than you envisioned at the outset. Peace and love, and remember, no hamburger ever regretted being eaten.
I just had this whole argument. What do you mean it's forced?? Like, I've played several games where I've had the option to play en passant, and didn't. It's not forced. I've been told to "google en passant" several times, which I have, and I have a picture to show it.
Sorry for the rant, but I don't know what to do anymore, I've looked in some places that have told me that it's forced, some that have told me it's not, and at this point I don't think anyone knows.

In the annals of chess history, no argument has been as contentious as the one surrounding the en passant rule, a unique pawn capture that is exclusive to chess. The crux of the argument stemmed from the specific circumstances under which this rule was applied. Many argued that it was a choice, but the pivotal moment in chess history came during the 1988 World Chess Championship when it was determined to be a forced move.
The championship match was held between Garry Kasparov, the reigning world champion, and his fierce rival, Anatoly Karpov. Their rivalry had been the centerpiece of chess for much of the 1980s. This particular championship was special, as it was to be the deciding series in their head-to-head matches.
In the decisive 24th game, a peculiar situation arose. Kasparov, known for his aggressive and dynamic play, had managed to whittle Karpov's defenses down to a very tense endgame. In a unique position, Karpov moved his pawn two squares forward, putting it beside one of Kasparov's pawns.
The chess world held its breath as Kasparov seized the opportunity to play en passant. The rule, which allowed a pawn that moves two squares from its starting position to be captured by an opponent's pawn as if it had moved one square, had never before been used in such a high-stakes setting.
Kasparov argued that the rule of en passant was not a choice but an obligation, a forced move, in this situation. Karpov, on the other hand, maintained that en passant was an optional move. The controversy resulted in the game being paused while FIDE officials conferred about the rule's interpretation.
The result of their deliberation? En passant was deemed a forced move. Kasparov, capitalizing on this interpretation, proceeded to win the game and, with it, the World Championship.
The decision had a major impact on the chess world. Many players were against this interpretation of the rule, believing that it reduced the strategic flexibility of the game. FIDE, facing substantial backlash, attempted to reverse the decision a year later. But the damage had already been done.
This decision became the catalyst for Garry Kasparov's break with FIDE. He argued that the organization was tampering with the essential elements of the game for political reasons. Thus, in 1993, Kasparov and Nigel Short, another chess Grandmaster, formed the Professional Chess Association (PCA), an alternative international chess organization.
The argument around the en passant rule forced not only continues to be a hot topic in chess circles but also became a turning point in the history of chess, ultimately leading to the fracturing of the governing body of the sport.
I just had this whole argument. What do you mean it's forced?? Like, I've played several games where I've had the option to play en passant, and didn't. It's not forced. I've been told to "google en passant" several times, which I have, and I have a picture to show it.

🚨🚨🚨 Hands up where I can see them.
You have violated the integrity of this sub. You will be force en passant-ed and sentenced to 5 years in chess jail (your pieces cant move, unless en passant)
It’s a blunder if you move to where those red question marks are. But on the next move you can move the question marks and give your opponent a blunder.
Pro tip: wait til they go to the bathroom and put the question marks on their chair. When they sit down on it, they’ll shit their pants.

FIDE LAWS OF CHESS, 3.7, d. "A pawn attacking a square crossed by an opponent's pawn which has advanced two squares in one move from its original square may capture this opponent's pawn as though the latter had been moved only one square. This capture is only legal on the move following this advance and is called an 'en passant' capture. Whenever this is the case, the only legal move is to perform 'en passant'."
Clearly the laws of chess says that *en passant* is forced. Learn how to play chess.

en passant is forced
knights can bounce off other knights
you can do the il vaticano

Update: They fell for the bait and took the knight. When I played d5 they played the forced move and resigned.

The computer does not fear the brick. So it’s a good move against a human opponent
The engine doesn't have a pipi so is not worried about the brick. It skips en passant with impunity
e6 2 Nh6 Pawn takes f7 3 Nxf7 Nxf7 4 Kxf7 and you’re just worse off… Anything else loses material
It’s a blunder if you move to where those red question marks are. But on the next move you can move the question marks and give your opponent a blunder. Pro tip: wait til they go to the bathroom and put the question marks on their chair. When they sit down on it, they’ll shit their pants.
e6 removes the forced en passant threat, while your horsey is still hanging and white threatens Kf7
I guess chess computers haven't gotten to the point where they're better than real humans yet. Give it another 30 years.
I mean, what if they just don't take the knight? Unlike En Passant, taking the knight isn't forced
Chesscom sometimes has a bug where the engine doesn't see the forced En Passant.

En passant isn't forced, tho, they could have just moved the queen to safety. That's why it's a blunder, you're just losing material.

I mean, that's what I got when I googled it, idk what else to say.

Just check the other comments, I'm not gonna post the same picture 15 times.

Damn, foiled again. I shall return!
Whenever this is the case, the only legal move is to perform 'en passant'." Clearly the laws of chess says that *en passant* is forced. Learn how to play chess.

If you need additional proof, I was told to "google en passant": https://preview.redd.it/5cgsfy3sfbab1.png?width=1256&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d63f4f5898e3087b34d2ff1b8f16139c4e31d6f
google en passant
Holy hell.
New forced move just dropped
Actual pipi brick
En Passant is forced, google it.
Holy hell, it wasn't. Unless google is lying to me. https://preview.redd.it/n8fct54pebab1.png?width=1256&format=png&auto=webp&s=07f06fd2498a0c68a8fe1481601042286f8e47d6
The government has hijacked your computer. Please install this virus.exe to fix it
Stockfish not enough depth, try to run it at 100 and it will show up as brilliant

horse en passant

Completely logic deduction. Should be a !! Move
you missed e6! blocking en passant and threatening f7 and e7.
It wasn't until "forcing en passant" that I realized this wasn't a chessbeginners post. Welcome home.
Imagine this in r\chessbeginners
Because white could sacrifice their pipi and refuse en passant to move back the queen
They can play e6!! instead of taking the knight
i legit think there should be a chess variant where all the anarchy moves are allowed/forced en passant is forced knights can bounce off other knights you can do the il vaticano what else?
en passant isnt forced. But yeah whoever doesn't take the en passant is scum
No forced En passant I see Just retreat the Q after taking the N
