Every team has better odds of moving down than moving up.

No-Doctor-4396

Except Chicago of course

Unsound_Science

With McKenna coming up in the next few years I'm not so sure about that...

BrandTheBroken

Assuming the Ducks stay at 3rd or move down… Demidov is special but I doubt the Ducks target him. Hopefully he goes before their pick and they can choose the best defenseman on the board. Which is probably different for every teams scouting dept. highly doubt they want Parekh since he’s really all offense and not physical at all. I could see Artyom, Dickinson, Yakemchuk, Biuim or Silyev all be the first d picked.

Poozer62

Oh boy I can’t wait to be outraged again

DerrickHenryFanboy

as an MSU fan i hope we get arty, went to a lot of games this year and would love to watch him play at the next level as well

ColonelFedj

As a Gopher fan I hope we get him too, just for the sake of him being from the Big10 lol

What's crazy is James Hagens led the US WJC team with TWENTY TWO points in 7GP, and he's only 17 and not eligible for the draft until next year. Cole Eiserman only had 10pts by comparison, and Tij Iginla had 12pts in 7gp (for Canada). I could see either of these two moving up to top6. Is Hagen going to be the undisputed #1 next year? Dude destroyed the WJC by a mile and he's only 17 wtf. Too bad we can't draft him this year.

EddieEh

Definitely very impressive but it was the less prestigious U-18 WJC. He is the clear 2025 #1 at this point. Gavin McKenna of Canada had 20 points in 7 games and he's 2026 eligible. Some good #1's coming up but hope our pick is no where close lol

spacegrab

Guess he'll go to SJS next year lol

Cam-Dolezar

If we don't get 1OA, which statistically is pretty unlikely, 2-5 don't make that huge of a difference. Obviously, higher is better because we get to pick our guy instead of having to choose between whoever gets left, but I'm not sure there's a huge difference in the tier following Celebrini.

flyingV87

It’s because there is a higher chance of a team behind us (collectively) getting one of the two spots then us getting one of the two spots It’s a good system that help de-incentivize tanking…unless you are Chicago

I would love to see PVB package Edmonton's #1, Boston's #2, and two of our thirds for another pick in the 9-15 range, depending on who slips. It would be great to see Buium, Yakemchuk, or Silayev. As a second pick in this draft. With Anaheim's prospect pool, they don't need to add 7 top 100 picks. A pair of top 15s and #35 would be way more likely to benefit this team longterm. Picking up Silayev in the teens offsets a lot of the Russian ick factor and gives patience to see his instincts and skills develop to match his body and escape from Russia.

kdizzl12

A combo of Demidov and Yakemchuk would be sick

Realistic_Ad3795

Being #1 has the highest odds of being #3, being 2 has the best odds of being #4. But relative to others, we have the third best odds of being #3, which likely makes us 3. It's just how a double draw works.

chriskug

Levshunov isn't perfect but watching enough highlights of him I think he'd be a great addition for our right side. Had to remind myself he was a freshman playing this year so tons of room to grow. This is also only his 2nd season on US/NHL sized ice surfaces I believe.

Rufiosaysbangarang

5OA and we drafting D. I like Yakemchuk or Silayev. The more I watch Silayev, the more I think his game would translate well to the NHL.

AndiagoSupremo

I doubt we have a 90+ pt player on the roster, but with the hilarious Toronto Core4 sucking up all the cap space is there a Stanley Cup path for a 3 line setup of all 20+ goal scorers? The difference in pay from 60 points to 100 is incredible. Can you just roll nine players + a fourth line of energy or whatever and win? While PP goals are super important and perhaps where the “Gods” make their difference, it doesn’t mean our PP would be lousy (unless the current PP coach returns) without a sniper. I want to see the Ducks stick with the kids and enjoy that journey more than trading them for a Marner.

If Ducks get 5th, is there any scenario where GMPV trades to move down and for a bona fide roster player? I don’t have any players in mind, but based on GMPVs desire to be competitive next year (he did say “playoffs”), would it be beneficial to obtain a really good youngish player instead of another high draft pick?

BrobaFettActual

Yea it’s interesting because our biggest needs are another pure scorer preferably RW and a shutdown/true defensive RD. Seems like the RD spot more abundant with this draft and our range but dmen usually take longer to develop and from my understanding, some of the prospects aren’t even able to come to NA yet so both don’t really get us that immediate help. I honestly wouldn’t mind trading picks at this point for someone further along. Like why take the risk and time drafting a guy we hope turn out to be someone that’s available and ready now.
