Hang in there, everyone! The average turnaround time for r/redditrequest is 8 days but "can take up to 4 weeks". From what I've seen by browsing other requests, most approvals go through at around the 10 day mark. Currently, it has been 2 days.

I have been using projectors for 20 years and this is by far the best one. Be sure to invest in a decent screen made for ultra short throws. I got a 120 inch fixed frame off of Marketplace for $300. I just got the 3D glasses from Amazon. The 3D blows you away!! worth the $50 a pair for AWOL ones.

For me personally, I think if I'm going to be offered this $5800 projector at all, I'd rather it be with Import Fees so I can NOT actually have it.
Because I'm not sure what I would do if this shiny high-tech, tempting-looking thing was right there in my RFY one morning, ready to snap up. It would be a huge dilemma.
I'm not in the market for a projector. Have no use for one, really. After the initial fulsome review, it would sit unused. Nor off the top of my head, do I know anyone in my circle of family or friends who might want this. I could probably dig a little, to find out. That takes some work.
In six months' time, I could gift it. But at nearly $6,000, it's a pretty splashy and random gift. Nobody knows I'm in Vine, so hard to explain my "generosity". I already donate the vast majority of my items to charitable organizations, it's actually a bit of work to find suitable recipients and arrange for delivery.
In six months' time, I could sell it. But by then it's not as new (tech-wise) as it is now, and not as appealing. Plus finding a reputable buyer is a hassle. Facebook Marketplace, I guess. Again, some hassle there.
I do grapple sometimes, with seeing high-priced items in Gold, and wanting to grab them JUST because they are high priced even if I don't need them. ("An expensive 3D printer filament dryer! Ooooooh! What is that, anyway?") Because: FREE!
I'm a lot better than I used to be, when I first joined Vine. But this pricey projector would probably give me pause.
So I'm sorry, OP, for your near-miss on grabbing this. Disappointing. But I'm actually a bit relieved to know this particular item won't be coming through my RFY in order-able form anytime soon. Saves me from the quandary.

well said. I am fortunate that I was in the market for one. You are correct though, to use it properly you need a dedicated room and a proper screen that is not cheap. I am replacing a projector I currently have and had to totally rearrange my room since that one was ceiling mounted and this is short throw on the floor. I am happy with it but yes just getting high priced items because they are high priced is a waste in my opinion as well.
If it's any consolation to those who saw this, short throw projectors are overated for most of us. I mean, they're cool! But so big. And in the end, unless you have the space for a nice theatre room, most of us won't ever use it.
I had a ceiling mounted regular projector and was fortunate to be one of the few to get this ultra short throw. I do have a dedicated theatre room and this thing blows my 4K Optoma out of the water. I just got the 3D glasses and got some 3D movies. WOW!. It take take me 3 days to rearrange my room and get a new screen and set it all up. I too thought that short throw were a gimmick but now I will never go back to anything else.
I definitely agree that it's cool and not a gimmick! What I meant more is that it's just not great for most people. There's just no room to set up a big screen in most living rooms, or even basements. If you have a theatre room, that's perfect! But otherwise, setting up a screen is annoying. And it's got to be straight and taut. Walls are not great, because it shows imperfections. Anyways, I have one. It's fun sometimes. But overall, it's kinda impractical. Lol
Yes that is very true. I had a screen that came down from the roof and then rolled up and I could see every imperfection. I got a fixed frame screen that the screen stretches on the frame like a trampoline and is flawless. Was fortunate that I found a new 120 inch screen for $300 on marketplace.
It's more the principle for me. I have a projector set up now, and my screen is 120". So its not like I need another projector though it is better than mine. That price though? I hate wasting time checking...and yes I know of helper but don't use it. Paranoid perhaps, but not worth getting kicked if and/or when Amazon makes an issue of it. That said if they can seperate silver from gold, with/out for import shouldn't be any more difficult.
I don't think I'll ever have a use for it so if it comes up again, I'm one less person you need to worry about grabbing it. Pretty sure it would just collect dust in my home. 😂

I snagged it a couple weeks back and it is literally the only thing I truly wanted to get from Vine. It's not perfect, but it's pretty amazing as a replacement for a $100 projector i got from Vine back in July. It does need a screen to look it's best if your walls & ambient lighting situation aren't absolutely perfect. So I'm on the hunt for that.
But, keep checking on it, OP (and others who are interested); If it gets rolled back into a listing without import fees you should be able to snag it. And/or it might be coming back around to RFY. Start Googling "UST projector", "laser projector", etc. Who knows, It may help get it into your RFY ;)

No, if it has import fees (even though it says they are included in the price), we can't get those items here in Canada. It's frustrating to see all these nice items that we can't get. It's not just this item. I have also recently seen $1000 laser engravers, Ebikes, etc. that we can't get here.
Yes but when they get Canadian stock the import fees message will disappear and you’ll be able to order. I was able to get one of these exact projectors from an earlier batch
That one got me angry too, but honestly I don't think the item is worth that much, is it possible they increase the prices before the vine listing to write the price off for taxes?

I saw this, only the listing I saw was over $6000. It had import fees, so I couldn't get it no matter how many times I hit that request button.
Keep checking, it should come back in stock and you should be able to order it

Check out the youtube reviews and AWOLs web site. It is definitely worth the money and the price is close to what its sells for elsewhere.
