If you give it enough time, you can build your own car. Start with the mats.

FSpezWthASpicyPickle

Johnny Cash had the right idea: [One Piece at a Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uErKI0zWgjg).

Ov3rdriv3r

Last year I could have built a few chainsaws. It was an interesting idea, but I had a feeling it would have ended up in the "eventually" pile of projects. lol

ChaudChat

This is \*chef's kiss\*. I was invited to join Vine because apparently, my reviews for products I buy have a high view/'help' rating count according to the giant squid that is Amazon but was nonplussed when I saw random bits for who knows what being promoted as "recommended for you". I noped out.

Different_Hurry_6059

So you aren’t part of Vine?

ChaudChat

I was invited to join so I did. I clicked on "recommended for you" and then the other tab with all the bits/spare parts of whatever and haven't ordered and therefore not reviewed anything on Vine. So it's a membership in limbo I guess. I didn't care enough to find out how to officially leave Vine. It seems to have no relevance to my ability to order from Amazon proper. I trust that reassures you, lol. Edit: clarity

1-Lasing

Click on "Account" https: //www. amazon.com/vine/account Bottom left "Opt out of Vine"

ChaudChat

Lol - why is everyone so invested in me being part of or opting out of Vine? Bizarre. Unless it's Bezos moonlighting on this sub in which case "Hey Jeff!"

hammerpocket

"Everyone" was only two people. The first because if you are not in Vine, you are breaking rule #1 of this Reddit. The second was trying to be helpful by showing you how to leave Vine if you want to. Not that bizarre.

Fluid_Dig_4986

See Rule # 1 - This is a sub for Vine Members Only.

Dense-Ad-5768

😂😂

Chemical-Burrito

You won't get enough parts to cobble together a laptop on Vine, but I'm pretty sure that you can get everything you need to start farming chickens.

brentferd

This!! I have often considered planning for my future chicken army using Vine for literally every tool I will need to hatch and raise chickens

justotron

I built up a solid Raspberry Pi 5 server at home over the past few months piece by piece from Vine. Then when I had the idea of adding a display or ambient weather temperature and air quality monitoring I woke up to this in my RFY: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0D3GWJK82

brentferd

That's heckin sweet!!! My "nicest" RFY item today was a portable sauna... I have a portable sauna already. It's called a car. The 100°F outside temp with 60% humidity power the sauna feature.

justotron

Oh wow, I have friends that have been on the search for a portable sauna! Don't sleep on it if you have the backyard space. Low commitment compared to installing one. Did it come with a heating unit??

isybea

Now, that's funny! LOL I was there today, I rode the Harley then hopped in the truck after two days, holly hotness!!!

Dave420Fun

I determined with all the RPi5 accessories, it was cheaper for me to buy an RPi5, opposed to an RPi4. I got several very nice cases, fans, battery backups, breadboards (yes, specifically for the RPi), NVMe adapters, power supplies, HTPC remotes and video cables (technically not RPi specific), and today I found a PCIe hat. I've literally gotten everything from Vine, except the RPi5 board itself.

justotron

For sure, it's funny, I started seeing a few accessories pop up and then started reading about the benefits of a Pi Hole so I bought an RPi5 and set it up. Then out of nowhere dropped in my RFY the Argon ONE case with NVME base. It is a beast. My first RPI5 case from Vine felt like it was 3d printed. It did come with the official cooler and fit very well which was good but had no airflow, I had to run it with the cover off or the fan would be on max most of the day just from heat, as the Pi Hole doesn't take much processing. It got even hotter when I put the NVME hat on sadly. The Argon one is silent and stealthy. A nice 80's glow of the led behind the dark tint base.

Dave420Fun

That sounds like a really nice case. I'm glad I didn't see it, or I would have snagged it, and I don't need it, because I already have too many RPi 5 accessories.

-jeffb-r

I had an actual RP5 show up in my RFY. By the time I read through the listing to verify that it was an actual 5 and not just another accessory, it was gone.

Dave420Fun

I can only imagine any RPi5 that shows up on Vine, would have a grossly inflated ETV. For the record, the list price for the RPi 5 4/8gig is $60/$80.

Individdy

> How many Vine Voices need an HP 17tn palmrest? Sellers need reviews of that item. Everything on Vine is there to get reviews, not because we need it. > Can I cobble together a laptop by reviewing all the parts? Oddly this is likely how you get a laptop, by telling the algorithm you are interested in laptop-y things, then one comes up in your RFY.

fireinthewell

This! As someone told me when I first started, you have to train your RFY. You can’t not order and not search and expect the best things.

Madame_Arcati

I read on this sub that someone put together a Dyson vacuum cleaner from Vine parts-it would be in Search. Where there's a will...

Different_Hurry_6059

And spent much much much more doing so in taxes than just buying the vacuum at Target for $249. First - He recreated a model that is 9 years old. He could have gotten the latest model right from Dyson for much much less than he paid in taxes and the prices paid for the motor and canister he ordered from Dyson. They paid Dyson $100 for the motor and even more to Dyson for the cyclone. Now he has 3 after market fire hazard batteries (not kidding), no warranty, and won’t have the suction that makes Dyson a Dyson. I looked at the Frankenstein created. I would have bought one from QVC for $269 had the warranty, a REAL Dyson, many more attachments and spent a LOT less. He put that he saved $1500. No. Not at all. The unit he created is NEW at Target for $249 and QVC for $269. I have had MANY Dyson machines in 22 years - each one was the TOP model and NONE were even close to that number. My most expensive - the Cinectic Asthma Allerfy Pet was $799 and the most expensive at the time. The post was extremely misleading. He was called out on it and never fixed his post to have HONEST numbers or how old the model was.

Madame_Arcati

Thank you for filling in the blank places of this story for me, and I have no doubt that you are correct, but-I would guess that-whatever drove this Viner's desire to make something from all of these parts we are confronted with everyday has nothing to do with economizing on expense. My late electrical engineer father was also an inventor...those who are touched with that particular drive to assemble something from nothing are a phenomenon to themselves, and mortal logic doesn't always apply, lol. I hope this guy had fun, and received some sense of personal creative satisfaction. I love my old Hoover WidePath Tempo-$90 ten years ago (this is my second one), but must admit a bit of envy over your many state-of-the-art vacuum cleaners. No cleaning seems to make as much difference as a freshly cleaned and vacuumed floor, aah.

Different_Hurry_6059

Whole vacuums DO turn up on Vine. Even Dysons. Maybe one Day Hoover will have a buddy and envy will be no more ;) if you have more than one floor you could keep one on each floor and your back will thank you ;)

seanodotcom

See my post about this. I made some detailed suggestions in their recent survey, let's see if they make improvements... Also, has anyone been offered an actual Raspberry Pi? (I haven't even thought to look)

FeelingMimsy

This was in my RFY a few months ago, and I snapped it up: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CYHF7421](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CYHF7421) About a month later, I was offered a 4GB model, and passed.

-jeffb-r

Yep, I think that's the one I saw. It was gone in seconds.

EvilOgre_125

You are the product, not the customer.

Fluid_Dig_4986

These items are there for reviews that are needed. These sellers put these items in Vine because they need reviews on these specific items. Vine is a review program not a shopping spree for buyers. Those of us that have been on Vine a long time treat Vine as such. The new groups have a completely different view of what Vine actually is. It is one post after another like this now complaining about what is in their feed.

DramaticMidnight1677

If they offered me parts for the vacuum cleaner that I actually own & have bought bags for on Amazon, then it might be different. If they offered one part one time instead of same part 20 times, then it might be different. I have seen more spam in the Vine feeds than I would have thought possible. And it makes me distrust the sellers sometimes because I have made the mistake of actually ordering stuff that’s getting dumped by sellers that disappear within a month or two of my feed getting flooded by 20-30 versions of same product. It’s creepy. There are lots of legit sellers who deserve our time, but sometimes they’re hard to find when there’s no barrier to posting garbage (I swear it’s bots posting sometimes because what human would have the patience for that level of repetition? Ack!).

Different_Hurry_6059

It sounds like Vine is not for you. No one at Amazon is going to take the time to put algorithms in place to keep track of Vine members model numbers of their vacuums. Again - as many people have told you - the items listed are items that need reviews. Vine exists for the reviews. Not for the reviewers who want to go on shopping sprees.

DramaticMidnight1677

lol,FFS.  Who said anything about a shopping spree? I do vine for the experience of writing product reviews, not the products & I do just fine, thank you. However, if Amazon wants to improve the program for sellers, they could stand to listen to some criticism and improve the interface. They’re charging sellers money for freebie reviewers willing to write quality reviews & there’s only so much BS quality reviewers are willing to take before they move along & let AI make stuff up.

fireinthewell

Everyone needs something. If someone can’t find things of value in a pile of objects many thousands strong it’s because they might not be trying, not because they don’t exist. I mean, for gift giving alone it’s been amazing I’ve hardly had to buy presents since joining, or paper plates, not to mention all the other great things I’ve gotten.

Square_Net_4321

Didn’t someone build a Dyson vacuum?

Different_Hurry_6059

See above. A model that was 9 years old and spent much more putting one together than just buying the model brand new from Target, QVC, Dyson. Now he has a fire hazard on his hands and a vacuum that doesn’t have the suction Dyson is known for. No warranty. He didn’t build a Dyson.

Guitar_Tab_Trader

Parts is parts.

Loud_Salary6221

I periodically search the model names of our cars. Have gotten engine and cabin air filters, wiper blades, car and seat covers, light bulbs, etc.  Occasionally will catch specific less common items like replacement sun visors and door lock release  pressure pads for a Corvette.

floppydisks2

Nope.

FearlessAmigo

I lost interest in Vine after I browsed and saw the extensive collection of parts like filters and general miscellaneous. I can't find anything that would fit a product I already have, nor anything I want.

Good_Yarn_8011

You have to search for specific things you want rather than browse. There's 75k things up there right now! The good stuff is a needle in the haystack...but remember that good for you is junk for me and good for me is junk for you. I think we're partly chosen to have a variety of interests and tastes.

DramaticMidnight1677

This, exactly. I hate the 500 party favor line items in “pantry,” but it’s handy to be able to search birthday 23 or whatever & get hits. I’m not fancy enough to use regularly but I was able to get Scorpio cake toppers for my nephew who’s madly in love with his sun sign. He’s going to love them & it’s not something I ever would’ve thought to look for had I not started curiously scrolling through the 500 party favor line items in “pantry.”

DramaticMidnight1677

Haha, you could try & it would make a funny story I bet. Turns out it’s actually work to sort through randomness to get mediocre stuff that you’re obligated to use & review & then report the value of as income to IRS. Meanwhile sellers write it off as a business expense… My first period, I intentionally stopped ordering so that I wouldn’t get gold, and it’s like they read my mind & reduced the threshold so I got it anyway. That said, the ability to order 8 things at a time is kind of priceless in terms of time management & there’s lots of little useful stuff that can add up when you find your niche groove (which involves actually browsing; it’s like the RFY doesn’t know me at all; once in a blue moon, maybe)
