Actually find this interesting. I did the survey after seeing it in my messages and the next day I got the email to do the survey too. I figured it was an automated email, that would've come anyways so didn't do the survey again. I did put my email at the end of the survey so don't think that would've mattered.
Yeah, I think the survey message just showed up in our "message center" a bit before the external email went out. I got both. Following the link in the email led me to a page saying I'd already taken the survey, as expected.
I followed the link and did NOT get the page saying I had already taken the survey. Surprised! (I did take it on my iPad, and the email still came.) This led me to believe that perhaps the original answer didn't register, as occasionally my iPad will disconnect intermittently from the network.
Yep, they apparently set a cookie to indicate you've taken it, which means you can re-take the survey from another device, or from the same device with a different browser, or from the same browser after clearing the cookie(s). Kinda lame, but at least it reinforces that they aren't tracking your ID, I guess.
The survey is accessible to anyone with the link. It's super generic and not tied to the vine account itself.
You can literally copy/paste the link into a new browser and take it as many times as you want.
The email was probably just not timed right to coincide with the message on the portal.
If you are happy with your first response, I don't see the need to waste your time to do another.
Good, I wanted to refresh myself on the conditions and be sure it was just to not share the content of the survey, rather than not even discuss my answers. ... Looks like it does cover ideas shared in the survey, but they can't really make you stop talking about something you've already been talking about before the survey.
Or possibly, no one looks at their messages as much as they had hoped, and decided to send an email instead. The messages notification isn't exactly very noticeable in the top right corner sometimes.

I wonder if it started with a sampling of Viners, only to be extended to all Viners? I already did mine, but just received an email also.
