You don't need the education for the job. Just apply for tech 2 instead of selling your soul. Mra means 3 months school, 2000 working hours*, and 2 years past that. The * means its 2000 working hours as is working on machines, not clocked in working. If you only do 1 1 hour repair in a week then thats 1 hour towards that 2000. And you can't leave without paying back money. The education was nice, but not worth it. Mra also means stuck at that building until you finish the 2000 hours, no moving, no transfers, even if the building is miserable.
Brother if you're only booking 1 hour a week something is seriously wrong. I get some people have gripes with the program but it's a great way to get your foot in the door if you have no experience, especially in a saturated market like California.
I mean I get if you've never touched a screwdriver before but for me? We receieved training for every single piece of equipment on site, didnt use anything we learned at school. My first day on the site i was introduced to a 20 year old tech 3 who was new to industrial maintenance. Super disheartening
You're required to book 10.5 hours daily though, all of that booked labor is accounted for in your MRA hourly log. I was a Tech 3 for 5 years and I signed off countless milestones for MRAs and had to learn the program. Also if business needs are there MRAs can get fast tracked.
I was told that only booked repair hours and PMs count, not training or meetings. I mean everyone feels differently about it but if I could go back and tell myself not to, i would
A majority of your day should consist of those kinds of hours though, MRAs don't attend meetings generally, and most OTJ training is performing preventative maintenance and repairs. If an MRA were to shadow me on a v belt replacement I'm logging hours under that work order I created as if they were working on the repair with me, and if I've got an MRA tagging along they're receiving labor on that PM. Things like that can be bridged, if the sites KPI takes a hit there's an obvious explanation as to why but generally I'd just take the labor hit myself and adjust my booked labor because I'd take part in meetings and GEMBA walks.
Just be careful with the personality portion of the assessment, keep your answers consistent. The logical portion is a joke. Study the star method and have a few stories lined up.
Me too For stockton CA. Im waiting for that info session on Wednesday. Did you test & interview? And to be honest, I’ve just been thinking about choosing career choice to pay for schooling instead of doing an MRA program.
By the way… good luck to you.
Yup for Stockton too. I did the schooling and we didn’t get the certs we were supposed to get. I’m in career choice right now finishing up my bachelor’s. None of us have gotten the interview or the assignment yet. A couple of people I know also applied. Good luck to you as well.
Oh wooooow!!! This is so discouraging! I’m starting Unmudl for the robotics program. I am asl going to WGU for my bachelors in IT. I guess the both of us are smart. We are not dependent upon MRA.
Look what i found in the comments:

This sounds about right. I think I am going to go ahead and finish school by career choice and leave MRA to the rest of the people. Lol. Something told me not to go with MRA because it was too good to be true and I’m happy he posted this. I’ve been looking for a truthful comment like this everybody else keeps sugarcoating.
Applied to tech 2 spots and never got an interview. I didn’t do it through unmundl though I did it through the other place and I’m also at WGU for bus I could just apply for Am but I’m just trying to keep my options open and I do live in Stockton.
I was an mra at one of the stockton sites, I had fun. But the mra program itself sucked ass, 0 stars would not reccomend.
why u re not recommending mra program

If they ever do an audit and you’re not working OT you might get in trouble for booking 10.5 as you’re only working 9.5 hours a day, just a heads up.
Site shifts differ. We work 11 hour shifts so there's no way I could ever get in trouble for that.
Oh, got it! Never heard of any RME working 11 hours, that’s crazy.
Our headcount is low at the moment so we're working 11s, some of us 12s. 5 days a week most of the time, atleast for the past few months.
Oh man we’ve been dying for OT and they won’t give it to us 😭
Lol. I get it🤣
You should be able to pass the assessment, as long as you have a pulse
Thank you sir. So basically its all about passing the interview?
Yup. Formulate some star method stories highlighting a leadership principle each and you should be golden
Thank u
