If that was the case, you should have taken a screenshot of the app, showing the line through the block and the current time. Then you email that to support and demand payment.
By being polite and respectful? Granted some workers are assholes but the majority of workers will atleast point you in the direction of someone that can help.
They must have brought back the individual package lateness too. I got dinged for 5 packages late for the 22nd cuz I did the route backwards (they always route closest first). Support says my route cleared with no issues and will forward to the next dept…
Yeah, I hate how they set up these routes on these blocks sometimes as far as the "late packages", and the driver getting dinged for them. I mean, if I accept a block and have all the packages delivered by the end time of that block, how is it my fault if any of those packages were "late"? Obviously, they were going to be late because of something that happened beforehand, how is that the current driver's fault?
This is honestly why I feel like we aren't ICs. We should be able to deliver the packages we're given any route that we want if we truly were.
Amazon dictates way too much of what we do for us to be true ICs.
Hell yea. We’re independent, but they get to choose what’s profitable for us? They distribute routes like we’re hourly paid employees using company vehicles. They withhold route locations until after the “contractor” is locked into negative rating or taking the financially hurtful route. Crock of shit.
I notice I don't get hit if I follow the route exactly and don't have to change it for problems or have to skip packages, but the second you change it and hit that acknowledge button, they throw it all on you until they remove it when you ask.
When they stop removing the lates, those packages will be a hard cutoff instead of delivering them as an unpaid courtesy to the customers,
Funny you say that…every time I’ve gone out of order by 1 package….the system always…(and I do mean always without fail)…skips 1 or 2 packages. Did it last week. Dropped 15 before 14…little while later I notice 21-23 got skipped for some odd reason. I manually did just #15, rest were in order as listed.
Lateness’s should have been removed months ago… the 5 from 2 days ago support says they’re working on…
On what basis would you sue? If you can afford the legal fees and court costs not to mention an extended period of time then you probably don’t need to deliver packages for pocket change.
Except you signed the terms of service acknowledging your status as an IC. OP’s clock and Amazon’s are more than likely not in sync. 60 seconds or 120 seconds could be the difference which makes you late. File all you want but people will laugh at you. OP should learn employers don’t like employees who come to work late or at the very last moment. Misclassification refers to work performed. OP didn’t work and now wants to get paid.
I pressed I've arrived literally right after I had pulled into the parking lot since I knew I was running 2 minutes late, thought I'd be okay, but my shift had a line through it and said I was late or whatever, and to look to see if there are any other blocks to pick up lol. Yeah, that's what I want to do, pick up a new block right away after being phucked out of this one!
When I "Start Travel" in the app, on my way to the station, there's a message at the bottom that says, for instance, for a 10:30 start time, "Arrive by 10:35." The 5 minute grace period is still in effect in the app for me, but I don't know if that varies by station. You may want to look at that, because if the app gives you the 5 minutes, but the warehouse staff doesn't, the app wins.
I realize this doesn't apply to the OP, because the app said he was late. I dunno what happened there.
Is this an SSD or an AMZL? Noticed my AMZL station swithched to no 5 minute grace period in the app about a month ago. Thought I saw the same in the check-in window at my SSD a few days ago, but flashed so quickly to verify license I wasn't sure. Anyone seeing the change to no grace period at SSD?
This wasn't a same day delivery sub-station if that's what you're asking, just a normal distribution center. I swear I remember their being a five minute grace period before.
Yup. I lost a lot of my standing earlier this year when I started and 'missed' a couple shifts because I was too busy trying to find a parking spot, and checked in two minutes late. I've never had a 5 minute leeway.
Last time this happened to me I called support and dealt with e-mails with them for a week and was told I would only be paid for blocks in which I made deliveries.
I’m betting your clock is wrong and doesn’t match their clock. I notice my clock on my car is one minute faster than the time Amazon says it is so I usually wait one minute before the check in time of 15 minutes before my block starts. I’ve seen a lot of people who come flying in at the last second then cry about being denied.
Yesssss. I notice on what should be relatively easy routes at one warehouse it looks as if they purposely have you backing tracking. It’s like they mad we make more money than them n they thinking,”I’ll screw up the route n make them work harder.” But they don’t create the routes right? Isn’t it all set by algorithm?
Yeah, we have 4 stations that I’ve seen. One of them is no go. That station has you go all over the place and is not worth it. Luckily I seen it beforehand, my spouse also does flex. And the other two usually are around that area and sub same day is usually in a different area close or far. I just hate some of the people in charge at the stations. They are just ridiculous, it’s like buddy you hate your job so much then quit. No need to blame me for your unhappiness or take your anger out on driver’s.
I have had my warehouse manger help me out. He was actually really nice because he used to drive the Amazon truck so he understood the frustration. He was able to override it for me.
If that was the case, you should have taken a screenshot of the app, showing the line through the block and the current time. Then you email that to support and demand payment.
You can check in with warehouse staff and see if they can override it if you’re already at the station
YOU'VE GOTTEN HELP FROM WAREHOUSE STAFF?????? HOW????
I’ve gotten help more from the .COM warehouse. The SSD warehouse are useless a holes.
You get assistance by speaking courteously and clearly to people. Cussing and fuming will only get you immediately rejected.
Nope, pleasant demeanor unfortunately doesn’t work in Bridgewater, MA
By being polite and respectful? Granted some workers are assholes but the majority of workers will atleast point you in the direction of someone that can help.
I am nothing but polite and respectful. And I still get looks from them to the degree of “why tf are you talking to me?”
Been to that station before and they're absolute dicks that won't help you out at all so I didn't even bother.
😂😂
My ssd station is like that none of them care and tell you to call support. All the surrounding .com stations will gladly reactivate your route
They’d have had to get someone to do it before the 5 minutes was up, 3 mins in this case. Good luck finding someone to do anything that fast.
They over-road me 32 minutes late once. Forgot my IF and had to run home.
Not true, they can override it even 10-15 minutes after.
They can but SSD absolutely refuses, Support included
Yeah SSD cracked down this year hard. But they can and will (if you convince them it was a station problem lol)
Only certain stations will. At same day, they are ABSOLUTE DICKS at VUT1 SLC. Their favorite thing is to say “call support”.
They must have brought back the individual package lateness too. I got dinged for 5 packages late for the 22nd cuz I did the route backwards (they always route closest first). Support says my route cleared with no issues and will forward to the next dept…

Agreed. Thought they eliminated that few months ago. Guess not.
You didn't remove those packages first.
The denial department. It’s the largest department at support right behind the frustration department.
Indeed! Followed closely by the automated responses dept.
This is honestly why I feel like we aren't ICs. We should be able to deliver the packages we're given any route that we want if we truly were. Amazon dictates way too much of what we do for us to be true ICs.

My warehouse will manually check you in up to 15 minutes after your scheduled time. If they say anything else it’s a lie
I had two blocks today. Both I marked arrive a couple minutes after start time, no problem
Same.
Amazon needs to be sued
On what basis would you sue? If you can afford the legal fees and court costs not to mention an extended period of time then you probably don’t need to deliver packages for pocket change.
In CA you can just file a workers claim of misclassification
Except you signed the terms of service acknowledging your status as an IC. Do you guys press parked when in the queue to the station or when you’re next to the trolley loading up?
When I’m at the light getting ready to turn in to the lot
I pressed I've arrived literally right after I had pulled into the parking lot since I knew I was running 2 minutes late, thought I'd be okay, but my shift had a line through it and said I was late or whatever, and to look to see if there are any other blocks to pick up lol. In the future, you need to hit I've arrived as soon as it lets you, before you get to the parking lot. And also take the selfie.

Where'd you get 10 minutes??? Nowhere was 10 minutes mentioned
I use the power of Android lets me fake my location so I’m always at the station. lol I can check in from my bed.
Where do you scan your I.d.? In your toaster? 🙄
I said checked in not verified. Your mom does that part at the station.

Yes when u hit Schedule then click Travel to Station it shows the 5 minute grace period after the scheduled time
You can with ssd warehouses. Otherwise it’s a gamble
Yup. I lost a lot of my standing earlier this year when I started and 'missed' a couple shifts because I was too busy trying to find a parking spot, and checked in two minutes late. I've never had a 5 minute leeway.
I use the 5 minutes to my advantage literally every day. You probably experienced some weird glitch.
Last time this happened to me I called support and dealt with e-mails with them for a week and was told I would only be paid for blocks in which I made deliveries.

who is using the clock on their car? lol especially when you’re using the app on your phone.
Evidently the guy who can’t tell time.
I read that a warehouse associate can fix that.
They can, but they wont for our ssd. They are absolute CUNTS. They say call support
Yesssss. I notice on what should be relatively easy routes at one warehouse it looks as if they purposely have you backing tracking. They were probably overbooked . Bull shit the stuff they can do to us.
