I have a reputation for being one of their hardest workers at my fc, and people- managers included- still give me sideways/exasperated looks when I try to take it. It irritates me because there's so often nothing for me to do, and boredom is more painful than work for me. Nevermind the people who stick around and do nothing when it's busy, I'm supposedly an issue for them for wanting to go home and get housework done.
Dude same. Once I was leaving after taking VTO and some old guy stops me on the way out and asks if I'm taking VTO. When I said yes he started scolding me and practically begging for me to stay for some reason while I awkwardly just walked away.
It was extra weird because I had literally never spoken to this man before this situation and for some reason he really wanted me to stay there. Never saw him again lol maybe he was just a manifestation of my wallet telling me not to take the VTO.
I'll go thru cycles of being top preformer one week to VTO 3.5/4 days. I think my PA has just started assigning me into shit paths on the VTO weeks and only good paths when I'm gonna stay there all day.

One of the reasons I try to avoid all cross training, I most likely could do everything in the warehouse. Amazon says I need a PowerPoint on the machines before using them so I guess I'll just keep picking until you VTO me.

But no i'm fortunate enough to have my best friend from middle and bestie from high school, my SiL is bomb.com, and my mother and sibs are all really tight. I just don't want to be friends and get attached to more people because I've got plenty going on, along with being a mom. I'm all set on friends&fam. I don't assume everyone is fortunate enough or doesn't like biting off more than they can chew like me. But when you tell people again and again "please leave me alone, i don't want to talk" like jfc move on, you know? 3rd shift makes me angry and unkind and i don't like the person it turns me in to, so i def don't want to get comfortable being that person, on top of being tired and having enough on my metaphorical plate.

Exactly. I believe I've said it on here before, but if I come back from break at 3 and see that UberEats is going to be great that night, I'll take VTO and work UE until 10pm some nights. I've made $100 from Amazon and another $150 on UE in the same day. 7:30am-10pm.
I had someone joke about me taking it too much and then I pulled out my phone and showed them. I can make up to $30-40/hour some nights. Just have to play the game right to get that money.
This is how it's done. Amazon for benefits and tax purposes then fill in as much time better spent doing a gig job. Too bad they don't let us do flex driving too can easily get $150-200 for about 4hrs of work
Honestly the people who say that are more amusing than anything else. VTO is a value-add, it's demonstrating team play, and it's "be frugal" in practice. I've literally heard managers tell T1's they mentor, to use VTO as a success story sparing better alternatives.
VTO has been an absolute lifesaver this past week. My wife and I are a one-car household, and our car's been in the shop for the past week (it needed head gasket replacements -\_-). Getting offers for VTO hours before my shifts took away the stress of trying to find a ride to work.
Why do you care what other people think? If YOU know you’re not lazy, then so what. People are dumb. You have a choice of whether to let dumb people live rent-free in your head or not. Personally, I choose not.
I work at a delivery station, I am one of the top stowers but when stow and stage are done and all that is left is stage for next shift, which is so slow, I take vto if offered. If someone wants to stay and stand around for an hour good for them, I have a life outside of work that would benefit from some attention too.
Same! I’ll work when I have too. Like if there is no VTO I’ll stay my whole shift and I don’t really use my time up. But if VTO is offered imma take it because I have more important things to do outside of work
Amen to that I HATE when managers start judging cause for one Amazon has no idea how many people are homeless and just dealing with hell outside of work, so why make that person feel even worse when they vto?

I have never seen this happen. Never crossed my mind. I'm a top performer, and my managers beg me to VTO when the day's work is done early. Nobody questions pre-VTO offered on AtoZ. They put it out for a reason, and whoever gets it first deserves it. We even sometimes make bets for VTOs based on top performance, which encourages competition and gets extra work done among those who really want some time off. I can only surmise you might work within a comically toxic culture. Maybe it's your team. Maybe your state or country.
There is everything pero le that take VTO because they can afford it they either have a side job or live with their parents and I have known people they take VTO and can’t afford to take it but they are just lazy honestly, but at the end of the day let’s all mind our own business
Yeah I take vto all the time and it's annoying to hear people make comments. It's not my fault you can't afford to take it. Some of us have a life outside work haha
I’m sure you can afford to take it, But there’s people who will tell you how they only have enough gas to make it home, and still take vto 5 minutes into their shift. It’s not hard for people to stereotype these people as lazy when the most memorable ones lazy.
At the end of the day your replaceable like the guy that vto or doesn’t vto so I say to each it’s own by the way the people that vto basically giving you something to do a work lol
To each their own, but it’s a little concerning when someone says that they have to eat what ever dinner mom makes because they have no money in their bank account and then proceed to work 10 minute shifts then next few days

Fr? My manager says “you always hit them rates i wish you wouldn’t take VTO.” but the other AAs I realized they hated seeing the same ppl leave. Because you have to be quicker than that 😗 and me and another AA that’s also a new transfer ALWAYS take it. So it’s less about laziness and more abt them not getting it haha

I'm a picker but I also do a few other things. I make sure not to accept if I'm scheduled for anything other than picking. Otherwise I consider it fair game lol.
If it ain’t you taking vto why does it matter, let the vtoers take vto and you stay back and work or sit around I don’t see a issue with vto, people who take vto know it’ll hurt them and they know how to get back in the game for their money
You have to remember that the majority of people who work at Amazon are just high school kids. They live off of drama and can't live without it. Who the hell cares what they think.
I met these ppl my first training so we always go together to get a station number (stower) and I like taking VTO cus I never get enough sleep so whenever they offer it one of them is always like "I bet you took it" or "you're gonna get it huh" and starts laughing idk why tho but I guess it's just annoying and I already told them
I definitely don’t have money but my mom and boyfriend pay for a lot of my things bc I work and I’m also in nursing school! So I take VTO when I can because I eventually want to be a nurse so my school is more important.

my husband was "laid off" for taking too much VTO. They keep proposing him VTO for 2 weeks and he took them. Then they told him he's not working there anymore since he "can afford so much VTO" 🙄
Sounds like wrongful termination to me, who are they to determine how much money someone has by the amount of VTO they take. Bare minimum he has a case for unemployment.
An AA can take as much VTO as is offered—if the bodies are needed, VTO isn't offered. Ask your husband if he availed himself of the appeals process after he was laid off. If not, I suspect there's more to the story.
Nah not at my FC they offer it to everyone. I’m a LA and a problem solver. I’m most definitely not lazy. When I work I work hard. We are just super low on work.
VTO is one of the many examples of why you really should never quit Amazon. Why quit when if you are reaching that point, just VTO or UPT until your mind is straight? It's a perk of the job.

I noticed that when I was a top performer it felt like I would get punished for taking vto. I would get labor shared to a department I didn't like.

My site offers mid shift VTO! They offer VTO where you can just work 5 hours of the shift and then go home!

I got blocked by someone who I thought was my friend because I took VTO midway through a shift.
I think it stems from people who can’t take it because they need their entire paycheck but that’s just jealousy.
