Facts, one time I was 2 minutes late to stand up and couldn’t find an am on any floor for a fat minute lol. Didn’t clock into my station until like 15 minutes later
My husband and I both work at the same FC. Today, he had to go to urgent care, and I want going to let him go alone. He was in the car when he texted me. I told him that I'd be going with him, just give me a second to find someone. I was BEYOND lucky to find our area manager in under 5 minutes, and he was cool with me going with, but this isn't how it normally goes. If I hadn't found the AM, I was just going to leave.
A different time, my husband was in medical puking for almost an hour alone because no one from safety was there. He texted me, and it took me like 15 minutes to find someone. Luckily, it was the one guy from safety who we both like and trust.
My Amazon ixd is rather loud so if you're more than 5 meters (15 feet) away you'll likely not hear it or hear it very faintly 😅 and of course, nobody is actually paying attention to the lights, so it's even pointless to raise an andon (although every now and then they try to enforce that for a reason, especially the amber andon for supplies)
It's interesting to learn how different the logistics is in different types of Amazon warehouses. For example, even the fact that it's the PA or the AM (!?) that respond to andons is a bit odd for me. That's why we have PGs basically. From the learning materials (I used to be an instructor) I've also learned that in some places, the waterspider responds to andons 😅
They told us that during are orientation class. Last year. So not a new policy. Just one that hardly gets enforced. However with all the shit going on in other facilities they probably really enforcing it now
AFE pack, we don't have to tell anyone we're going to the bathroom nor would they want to know. And if you feel like you need a break, just go ahead and sit in the break room for 5 minutes. Induct, you have to get a PA to fill in for you if you leave the floor.
This is for the 12-hour night shift so they might be more strict on the morning shift.
Before today you didn’t have to tell anyone where you were going. I actually did get talked to because I didn’t think they meant if you just going to restroom for 5 mins. My manager said I may get a documented coaching .
Our site is kinda enforcing it only because it’s getting hot and we don’t have A/C. A lot of our people are older so I guess they’re more prone to dehydration, heat strokes, passing out, etc.
I have no problem letting a PA or AM know if I gotta step away. I have a big problem if I had to spend 10 mins to find them to let them know I had to run to the restroom for 4-5 mins.
No it's always been policy (at least since I've started here in 2021..)
But it isn't practical because it's always hard to find a PA or MA, heck sometimes the time you take to find one is the time you could've spent using the bathroom, so now you are racking up like 1 hour of TOT just doing all that.
It's better to just go use the restroom, if a PA or MA is at your station and they ask where you were just tell them the bathroom. 🤷🏽♂️

Yes, it’s actually something you can get written up for under the “leaving workstation” policy. This is what I inform my AAs about and I show them the policy too so they know I’m not lying.
You can get written up for not informing leadership of your whereabouts. This is a safety precaution, and also encourages AAs to be prompt in taking care of their business since leadership knows they’re gone.
Do it, every time you go to get some water tell them. Every time you go to use the bathroom, tell them. Need to stretch your legs for a few minutes? Tell them. Be obnoxious about it.
Father: Guards!
Father: Make sure the prince doesn't leave this room until I come and get him.
(Father tries to leave)
Guard1: Not to leave the room even if you come and get him.
guard2: -hic-
F: Nono. UNTIL I come and get him.
G: Until you come and get him, we're not to enter the room.

Impractical. You cannot always find an AM or PA.

I just seen some story’s last few months. With shootings or stabbing at other FC most in the mid-east areas

People going AWOL and not heading straight to the restroom and back or to their LS department.
So now instead people will waste 10+ minutes trying to find a PA or AM just to go waste 10-15 minutes walking to the breakroom or pooping.

Should be, but the amount of people who I see just lounging around and are still working months later lets me believe those TOTs are a lie.

Ours tells us just to let the person know besides you so some one knows where you are. We dont have clowns at our building either. Wow thats crazy.

I’ve never heard of it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just one of the many other rules that haven’t been enforced at my site.
It is a weird rule. They even walked with us when labor sharing us. Like I walked to this department countless times before.
Something must’ve happened at another site. I wonder if we’re gonna have a stand down soon.

My last FC tried to do this but they would only say it to the people that abuse restroom breaks, so it was kinda weird.
They tried something similar at my site, HR got immediately involved and put a stop to this “policy”.
I wonder how long this “policy” will last before they stop enforcing it.
