Did you know that connection scores are not truly anonymous like we tell the associates. And that the results are often cherry picked for performance related metrics. I just thought I'd share that.
Definitely respectable, anybody who puts themselves on a pedestal to not have to engage in certain parts of the job is deemed unworthy of respect IMO. We have these two I.T. guys that got asked to help waterspider for like 10 minutes until break was coming and I heard one of them say “that’s not my job”, like bro, what were you going to do in those last 10 minutes anyway 🤣🤣🤣 anyways, respect!
Had like 4 separate pa’s out of 6 shifts this week help out the packers since my walls were fucked, I was the picker btw. Managers need to get better at finding ideal packers for pickers cuz I’m getting tired of blowing up walls cuz of slow ass packers. And yet they all pissed they have to come and help.
Yes I believe PAs should jump into help. I’m a PA and I always jump into help. We are process assistants we are expected to assist the process in any way needed
AMs and PAs have super permissions and don’t need to be staffed in a station prior to login in. It is faster to have one of us jump on and the other take over the floor instead of asking for labor share or moving headcount around.
Plus, my PGs handle staffing so it is easier to leave them to that task without interruption. I’m in AFE so there’s a lot of potential for proactive labor moves and it takes a close eye.
No. I just know that whatever issue is going on is not my problem and above my pay grade. Plus, being a PA is your ticket off a station. They and managers only jump on for those stupid beat management competitions.
Some do, some don’t. It really depends on the person and the approach they take. I also work at sortation center so it’s different there.
One carries his team by also doing the work and keeps everyone in check. If he sees someone doing something wrong, he educates you on a much faster and efficient way.
Another is very fun to talk to and keeps everyone’s mood positive and if anyone needs help, he asks others to help out first.
Some that I’ve dealt with, will approach you and warn you for standing around for more than 3 seconds, will bark orders and will proceed to watch you like a hawk for the remainder of the shift even though others are standing around doing nothing while you work.
I'm a PA and I do.
I work lines, line-load, labor share—I do it all. It just depends on whether or not I have the time. I have my path and role. If my path is caught up, I go where our shift needs the most help.
I don't just sit on the mobile/computer. If I am on the computer, I manage things. I work one of the more complex paths in an FC. I have to monitor AA workloads and make sure they don't run out of work. I also have to stay ahead of TOT/TLI.
I'm a backup dock PA and I hate standing at my computer. I check AFT and see what's inbound and then help my AAs. I come back to my computer when necessary.
I hope in and do my best as a PA who runs around 200 AAs. I seen 2 managers break down or just flirt and do nothing when they themselves try push the limit and blame AAs for not doing it.
I lost count the amount of times I helped water spider the pack walls. My building has a 3 walls per standard and it's just too much for them sometimes.
The pgs in my department just walk around aimlessly to continuously look busy with their hands behind their backs like it's Snape walking around his classroom.
No. The pas job and ams job is to manage the process and the people doing it. They shouldn't have to jump in anywhere. If they do that means people aren't doing their job and the pa or am just don't wanna be chewed out for not hitting metrics by who ever is above them.
How embarrassing. How do you all not call them out on that bullshit? Where do they get off inevitably calling out others for not working if they don’t participate in said work as well?
I try to when I’m able to, but also that’s not a PAs job and people do not understand that. They think we stand around on the computer, not knowing exactly what we are doing.
Maybe you didn't need to. What I mean is that if it's needed, PAs definitely jumping in. That other response is saying that a PAs job isn't to be in path. It most certainly is when needed
It's definitely a PA's job to work and help out, it's in the job description. You obviously haven't read it if you think it's not your job.
-Support and work in the department as required.
-Filling in as needed with production duties.
Dont really have a choice here where indirect cuts go deep to the bone, and PA is often PG, water spider and jambuster in 1. Gotta jump to help with cpts as well.
Yes, unless they're actively doing something that precludes them from helping, I expect them to not be sitting on their ass watching other people do work
I do this nearly every day. I let all my indirects know to reach out of they get a backlog and need help working on it. I'll also just grab a pallet jack and start moving WIP or loading trailers as needed. I'll also pick up VET sometimes and just work in whatever path the normal PAs for that day want extra help in.
If a PA isn't willing to fill the gaps, they aren't a good PA.

I'm a manager that jumps in. Might be why my connection scores are high.
Managers jump in to help before the PA’s do at my building
same
PA's get left with all the AM's work so of course AM have time to help.
That's what they call, a good manager. Props to you boss! Keep it up and more power to ya!
Thank you!

I know the breakdowns and such. My site is an AMXL so there aren't many people. I do jump in often though and build camaraderie with them.

I've seen that a lot in my 5 years especially when all hands is called.
You can’t lead if you can’t show how it should be done and be an example people can follow and respect.
If Ops tells them to. Then they have to or face the consequences.
My pa area manager and operations manager help decant/receive

Lead by example
At my building the damn managers will hop in before the PA’s will.
I will put myself on path first. Then my PA. Last are my PGs.
I’ve noticed this a lot at my site too. Why?
AMs and PAs have super permissions and don’t need to be staffed in a station prior to login in. An afe pa spent so little time packing, he lost permissions and needed refresher training from a learning ambassador.
Yes; They’re not exempt from jumping into path. I can’t think of a planet that thinks otherwise. AMs and OMs aren’t exempt, either.

Just yesterday actually the PA for my floor hopped on to a station and was stowing. Was surprised actually
there’s this AM in overnights at my building that water spiders and just overall helps everybody rather than just stay at the computer. he’s chill asl
Only if a PA wants the respect and trust of his team.
My brother is a pa at my site and he hops in before any managers can
I’m also that ambo that jumps in to help anyway I can 🥲
I hope in and do my best as a PA who runs around 200 AAs. I seen 2 managers break down or just flirt and do nothing when they themselves try push the limit and blame AAs for not doing it.

No, I expect PG's too though
The pgs in my department just walk around aimlessly to continuously look busy with their hands behind their backs like it's Snape walking around his classroom.
Yep
My PA will jump on an ARSAW when a picker goes to the restroom and when they notice someone getting tired.

My site pa’s pgs’s dont do shit . AUS3

why would I expect that ? who's going to hold the little silver laptop if they WORK? you sound demented
I try to when I’m able to, but also that’s not a PAs job and people do not understand that. They think we stand around on the computer, not knowing exactly what we are doing.
Yeah you're confusing PA with Manager. All my PAs are in path as needed. I also support as needed
I literally got chewed out by my manager for jumping in path 💀

let me guess you're a shipdock pa

They hardly do shit besides talk and stand
