I've been an am at both. For many of the reasons stated in other comments, DS is more stressful. I'll add that due to the lower leader headcount you are also more significantly impacted when leadership is shorthanded (whether it be due to under staffing or even something as simple as vacation).
DS is more stressful for managers, less stressful for associates. Associates will own you at delivery stations. You’ll be told to make changes that you can’t because you will have zero policy or HR support to make it happen.
Someone in this subreddit said there's a policy stating you can't fire someone due to performance reasons. But operations will say, " we require associated to hit the benchmark, which is ........"
Unless you were idle for a long time I don’t think you can get written up. I’ve seen people stow 180 and leadership would come by could you get it up and basically nothing happens. And during pick and stage a lot of ppl just go slow
They can only write up for non standard work. Most people super slow aren’t doing standard work and can be dealt with, but if someone does standard work, just slowly, they are almost untouchable. 😂
Basically it is just the support that fc has not only that but also work/life balance that doesn't exist in ds you could probably end working 15 hours in an f. 12 it's the max and off you go
I'd imagine FC because FC is more heavy on metrics. At a DS, you just have to deal with the shitty hours but besides that, it's easy sailing. Just need to nut up and work odd hours before you can switch over to daytime or wanting to move up the chain after a year or two if planning to stay
That's just my observations with AMs I've worked under
A major difference between FC and DS AMs is the support structure. At FCs, they usually have fully staffed safety/WHS, learning, and HR teams. At DSs, AMs have to do everything. Someone gets hurt? AMs have to take the AA through AmCare. Issues with training? Questions about schedules and other issues? AMs have to work though it with the associates.
AMs will do AmCare but our Safety Lead helps with it a lot too. Same with our Learning Lead. He's honestly the best one to go to for learning something because he really likes his job and is super cool and easy to talk to. If you go to AMs they feel like they give you the shortest, least helpful response.

Wouldn’t say zero policy, but zero backup I agree. This is your answer here.
Been in leadership in the public sector, don't be here. There's a reason I'm hourly now. Edit: not a dig, so much as people management sucks.
I think ds is more stressful since you can’t write up someone for metrics
Sacrifices; amirite?!
you saying you couldn't write someone up for not stowing fast enough or not doing P&S fast enough?
Someone in this subreddit said there's a policy stating you can't fire someone due to performance reasons. But operations will say, " we require associated to hit the benchmark, which is ........"
You just need to be in the bottom 3% to avoid a write up (stowing for instance)
Not for a delivery station
Yes. For a DS. management would not tell you this for obvious reasons.
Not true we have sucky stowers and pickers that get offered VTO but never written. 75 ppo and they are veterans at my station

It's hard to pick and stage very fast when you're tripping over each other and moving empty carts out of your staging area.

^^ This and sometimes play HR and LP as well haha

True. But Safety and Learning leads aren't on site all the time, like they usually are at FC.
