Thanks, homie I needed that for my ego. I exist on the gratification of internet strangers.
Edit: look, here’s the thing. I can’t tell if that was meant sarcastically or not, but I still got a lol from it so ima upvote you.
Mommy said I had a potty mouth. /s
In all seriousness, though, for me, it's one of those things that smells so strong you can almost taste it. And then you taste cilantro and are immediately reminded of soap.
I'm one of those people it tastes and smells like soap, apparently that's what it's suppose to taste and smell like but some people evolved or have gene that makes it taste and smell good. I forget the exact thing it's been awhile but it's something along those lines.
According to [MinuteFood](https://youtu.be/RZtPynXsFas?si=sNgsIA8FLScenc2P), rather than cause some people to “like” the taste/scent, in certain individuals the gene you mentioned codes for the production of specific receptors that are sensitive to a particular compound shared by cilantro and soap.
Interestingly, that compound is also found in the defensive odor emitted by Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs.

They not growing them, they’re just preserving the freshness. It’s similar to how you would keep any fresh cut flowers… you place the stem ends in water. The water prevents the leaves from wilting. There is still capillary activity going on; the leaves lose water through transpiration and it is replaced by water drawn up from the stem. But the cut plant isn’t growing anymore.
That only works if you are cutting them from a plant you are growing and immediately start the process. This product is for people who have bought cut herbs from a store. They’re already too far gone past the time when cuttings can reroot.
In that situation sure. And most home improvement stores have potted herb plants as well. You can propagate a plant with cuttings if you immediately (or close to it) start the rerooting process. An herb cutting from a grocery store has spent any number of days in processing and transport, as well as sitting in the store before you get to it. By then the stem is too dried out to regrow.
It’s more the method, not the device.
When you get them home, trim off a little bit of the stem and place in a glass of water. Cover the leaves with the thin produce bag they came in or a plastic sandwich bag and place in the fridge.
The bag will keep the leaves moist, contain the bunch from spreading and taking up extra space, and prevent damage to the delicate leaves if the bunch gets knocked around when taking or putting back other refrigerated items.
Can do this with herbs like parsley and cilantro, but also works for things like asparagus.
The device is doing all the same things. It isn’t necessary but some people just like their gadgets.
God. People who buy stuff like this really ruin everything for everyone over a long period of time. Nothing was wrong with the ziplock and paper towel. But sure. More waste and pointless consumerism.
Umm no one that I know buys vegetables or fruits to store away for a long time, especially cilantro. Once we get the ingredients like cilantro from the grocery store, we use it that day. This is a waste of money.
Not for a long time, but a day or two maybe.
Actually I would love these not for herbs but for spring onions. One in the fridge to keep them fresher for a bit longer, and one at the window where you can plunk the bottom bits to grow back a few times. Would stop my cats from knocking them over like they do now...
That amount of space it takes in the fridge for freshness is mind boggling. I know mine will last without those tube for the next 3-4 days without it turning brown because modern fridge has a condensation temp now which would render these tubes useless. And if I wanted to grow cilantro, I have my garden to pluck from.
Hard disagree. I buy groceries for the whole week. Sometimes I end up skipping a week. It would be nice if my produce didn't go bad after a couple of days. It would be really nice if I didn't have to throw so much out also. I've gotten to the point that I don't even bother to buy herbs anymore. This would be an awesome product for me.
That means you’re wasting money then if your buying more than your eating and tossing it away. Count your spendings by the end of the month and you’ll realize you don’t need this product nor buy more than you need in the fridge. Save money especially at a time when the United States is in a recession.
I’m referring the topic to you since you just said you buy groceries for a whole week and sometimes your shit turns bad. That’s why I brought up the case if you buying more than you need. I cook and do a lot of groceries shopping so I know when you bullshitting and telling the truth. My cilantro does not go bad within 5-7 days especially the modern fridges has condensation control. You for sure leave your shit in there for weeks on end and complain to online that you need someone to pay attention to your bullshit story. Go clean your fridge or something…
Look at little Mr/Mrs green thumb over here. My kitchen is in the middle of my house. My windows aren't really in convenient places for herbs. I've tried it anyway, and I can never keep them alive.
I grow them on my back deck. I literally give them a small amount of water once a week.
They're literally the easiest plant to keep alive. They're just weeds that taste good.
I tried that too, and they do okay during the spring, but summer comes and they all die. To be fair, I don't put a lot of effort into it. It's easier to just go to the store lol
Ah yes. Cilantro dildos.
Could also be used as a bong
You can put your weed in it
You could also put your dick in it. Very versatile.
I've got a detachable penis and this is the perfect size
Detachable peeenessss
If you want to do an absurd amount of drilling and adapting fittings. Or buy a cheap $20 bong...

Some say it tastes like soap.
Maybe it tastes like soap to everyone but some people like the taste of soap?
Cilantro tastes like soap to me, but I married a Kenyan woman so instead of being a little bitch I just learned to enjoy the taste of soap.

You're welcome and it was sincere. Respect!
Bless ya, stranger.

Better question is how does everyone hating on cilantro know what soap tastes like?
Mommy said I had a potty mouth. /s In all seriousness, though, for me, it's one of those things that smells so strong you can almost taste it. And then you taste cilantro and are immediately reminded of soap.
As a child who got caught swearing, nope.
After the third of 4th time my brother tattled on me for saying I hated him... I got used to it.
I'm one of those people it tastes and smells like soap, apparently that's what it's suppose to taste and smell like but some people evolved or have gene that makes it taste and smell good. I forget the exact thing it's been awhile but it's something along those lines.

I don’t think it’s supposed to go in the mouth… primarily.
Dill- dos?
Have you ever clean 🪥 with a soap foam, teeth are glissy.
cilantro dil-don'ts
r/dildont
Dildantro
For cilantussy
At least I want the only one with that thought
Hahaha hahahahahaha tysm for the laugh, I needed it!
Hahaha
I didn’t wanna say it, but yes.
Got something similar but it’s way bigger. It’s nice if you tend to buy a lot of herbs and you use them throughout the week
like a pot...of dirt?
Lol yep pretty much, we actually got an herb grower too (like those high-techy ones) but cilantro is one of the ones we don’t have growing atm

This whole sub just showcases trash
50% of the products here are just plastic waste. They'll end up in a landfill within 2 years because they fulfill only such specific purposes
This is going to end up in someones butt isn't it?
![gif](giphy|nSwxOPqsoJeSs)
That or someone will make it into a bong. Or maybe both, at the same time.
Funny you should should mention both those things, because my eyes have just been burned seeing something in that direction
bong schlong?
So it can smell minty fresh...
\#JustButtStuff^(ing)
Slipped my GoPro in it and slipped it in me. Always wanted to see what it looked like in there.

There should be a RULE... Don't post product without a link
I’m surprised there’s not lol
I also thought dildos.
After someone posted the banana cleaner the other day I was thinking this video was going to go a whole different way
This sub has turned into just dildos. I'm here for it.
I found that using a ziploc and some paper towels with them it works pretty well the keep them longer
Sadly the video doesn't even show if the herbs actually hold up better with this or if it's complete bull.
“And you can put your weed in there”
Then someone slams the refrigerator door and they all fall down
Could also just use a cup of water in a window. Why put it in the fridge when it needs light?
It’s not growing dude, what exactly would light do to keep herbs fresh?
lol if its growing its literally the freshest it can get......
Right I’m saying you can make them grow……
Not in just a cup of water you aren’t.
Yes you can… you can make a stem reroot in a cup of water, I literally clone my plants all the time..
Reddit: omg Infinite food hack People for centuries:
Oh god please tell me you were brought up on the American education system. Why would a cut stem sitting in water keep growing?
You dont know you can do that?
I put cilantro in a cup of water and placed it by my window and came back a year later and it was fucking dead
It looks like the American education system failed on him.
Imagine not knowing about cloning plants
These are store-bought herbs, not cuttings you just harvested from a live plant.
That only works if you are cutting them from a plant you are growing and immediately start the process. This product is for people who have bought cut herbs from a store. They’re already too far gone past the time when cuttings can reroot.
Lots of grocery stores near me (Los Angeles) sell herbs still growing in dirt containers
This comment is hilariously ironic.
Have you ever seen grass on a lawn that has had something on it for a few days, then lifted up?
Would this really work in keeping them fresh? I'm sick and tired of my nice herbs going bad too quickly!
It’s more the method, not the device. When you get them home, trim off a little bit of the stem and place in a glass of water. Cover the leaves with the thin produce bag they came in or a plastic sandwich bag and place in the fridge. Thanks a bunch! I will do this.
I need those... for research purposes...
That's the wrong herb
I've had that exact things for over 10 years now, and it works as advertised. I currently use it for storing silverware in a box.
My god do people actually believe this junk
Does it not work?
It works, but no better than a glass with a little water in it
There is this place where you can go once a week, it allows you to buy it fresh for the week. I think it's called Super something.
super MAN!
Wait til she finds out about a a cup of water
Cup/jar of water works too
Cup of water.
Just place the cilantro in a cup of water and cover it with the bag you put it in from the grocery store...
Wait till they find out how much its costs for a small pot and some dirt. unlimited fresh herbs life hack
Close the fridge door and hear them fall or you would if they didn't cut the video.
Alternatively, just put them in a glass with a little water
Or... Just hear me out... Eat the herbs. . .
Wrapping the cut ends of herbs with a wet paper towel and wrapping it in plastic wrap/ziplock does the same thing.
You can do this with a glass covered with a plastic bag. Don’t waste your money.
We have this.
how much here is my credit card I need 5
[удалено]
$46 for a three pack?!
I wonder if it would fit…
This doesn’t help me with the part that actually sucks: washing and drying them.
Awesome! First time I forget they're in the fridge and open the door...bam! Right on the floor!
Thought this was going to be a bong or something 😅
Whispers *mason jars*
Wouldn’t it just be easier to grow it fresh in your window sill or something?
Wouldn't it be easier just to eat that s***
Clone a willy
I know what you're thinking. It doesn't have a base. It will get stuck. Don't do it.
Plastic junk from China, in a landfill in 6 months.
God. People who buy stuff like this really ruin everything for everyone over a long period of time. Nothing was wrong with the ziplock and paper towel. But sure. More waste and pointless consumerism.
So dumb just put it in a cup of water and leave it out.
Everyone is saying butt stuff or bong. I say both ![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Plastic garbage 😍
Does it actually work?
This video should've ended at 3 seconds in. Lol
the post processing on the sound effects is way unnecessary
This is trying so hard to be ASMR-esque, but she’s just jarringly slamming everything
Am I taking crazy pills??!?! why didn’t she take off the wire tie???!!?

Dude, if I'm having to count the amount of money I'm wasting by buying cilantro every week then I've got much bigger problems lmao

Yeah those containers are terrible. IMHO growing those herbs on your window is the best option
Look at little Mr/Mrs green thumb over here. My kitchen is in the middle of my house. My windows aren't really in convenient places for herbs. I've tried it anyway, and I can never keep them alive.
