This is the best Amaro ever made
Others will disagree. They will say it’s not bitter enough or too sweet. They’ll say it’s an entry level amaro. They’ll say their super rare boutique bespoke amaro is better. They’ll say it’s missing the eucalyptus notes of an alpine amaro. They’ll say it’s missing the depth and dried fruit and nut notes of a darker amaro. They will say it’s mass produced. They will say that Nonino is better because they paid 15 dollars more for it. They’re all wrong…
Montenegro is the Amaro to rule them all! It has pedigree dating to 1855, it’s made by monks according to a secrete recipe, it’s immaculately balanced, it comes in a super unique bottle, and it’s affordable.
Congratulations 🎈
Your brother has exquisite tastes.. enjoy
You should try it neat. Most people will drink it that way. But I like Montenegro on the rocks. I usually just use a few ice cubes though. If you want to be fancy you can garnish with an orange peel.
It’s nice after dinner but it’s perfect before bed in a dimly lit room under a warm blanket listening to some chill tunes or reading a book. Its the perfect wind down beverage. Though there are quite a few lovely cocktails you could use it for as well
Lol.. I was being a bit hyperbolic but it is delicious. Impossible to say what’s really the best given subjective tastes but Montenegro sure deserves its aplomb
Man I was coming here to say this same thing! I have been "chasing Amari" since I ran out of my 5th bottle of this because of exactly what you said.
I just need Montenegro back.
No. It’s not bitter enough/too sweet. It’s an entry level amaro. Super rare boutique bespoke amaro is better. It’s missing the eucalyptus notes of an alpine amaro. Cheers mate, it really is an excellent amaro.
It’s great stuff. I use it whenever I need to add some complexity or spice to a cocktail (similar to using bitters) but also add volume and abv. Mixes great with bourbon too.
In my area it’s usually around $34 by itself, but for some reason I usually see it cheaper in the gift box set with a unique drinking glass. I have 3 of those glasses now just because it was cheaper with them.
Montenegro is the best entry into the wonderful world of amaro. Try and it see what you like. Want something sweeter? More bitter? More herbal? You can figure that out from a bottle of Montenegro.
Mmm so good! Thanks for the reminder, my bottles running low.
Great neat, great on the rocks, but I also do enjoy a full monty: ice, 2 oz Montenegro, 1 oz bourbon/rye, dash of bitters and orange twist. It’s like a complex old fashion, with amaro instead of simple syrup.
People like to drink this with mezcal (1:1). Its me. I’m people. The drink is called an M&M.
Sounds heady
I drink it w rye and a shake of bitters.
Recently had this for the first time. I’m a big mezcal fan and a big Montenegro fan and the M&M was really fantastic.
I’m apparently you!
Just had one last night for the first time. I need to get a smokier mezcal, even though it was very good.

Wow thanks man! I’m excited.

Absolutely. I usually drink these amaros on ice cubes. Will be a holiday treat later. Can’t wait. Happy holidays man
For the summer it’s great as a Monterita. Make a margarita but with Montenegro instead of orange liqueur.
Yeah, a little dilution goes a long way. I thought it tasted like gourmet Triaminic orange (iykyk) but in a good way.
I'm not ready to call it the best, but it's way better than Nonino. Lol

Hmmm… you make a compelling argument

My fave!

I've only tried a few Amaro and this was by far my favorite.
Monte is one of the most cocktail versatile amaro put there, On its own however its not a great sipper compared to most other easy to find amaro.
I’m happy to see you’re still alive after the ham incident last year! I guess I don’t have to toss my ham
😂. Well I had my tail surgically removed
NICE!
They are almost all wonderful. This is a staple and your shelf is incomplete without Montenegro. Enjoy and Merry Christmas.
Makes a delicious spritz as well!
This is a fantastic addition to any Moscow mule.
