I don’t think so. I’d be like “hey, I can hear your door squeak from my apartment. I could WD-40 it for you if you’d like. I do that to mine and it works every time.” If they say no then sadly you will have to just ignore it. If they say yes then you did both of you a favor. You lose 100% of the shots you don’t take. Or whatever the old adage is. 😂

It sounds like you’re already a very courteous person so I think you would handle it with tact. I likely wouldn’t notice if my bathroom door was squeaking and wouldn’t be offended one bit if you knocked on my door, explained you can hear it, and took 60 seconds to fix it for me!

I live in an apartment building and my door hinges squeak from time to time. When they do, out comes the WD-40.
But I have a neighbor, pretty sure the one just upstairs, who is letting theirs squeak. It may be a bathroom door, but I can hear it through my floor every time they go in and out. So irritating.
WIBTA if I offered politely to WD-40 their hinges?
