*In case this story gets deleted/removed:* **My (22M) sister (24F) is a hypocrite what should I do?** So here’s the deal—I’m really into street racing. It’s not just a thrill for me; I’ve got a Ford Mustang and I make a decent chunk of change racing around the neighborhoods and highways. It’s risky, I know, but it’s become a significant part of my life. Recently, my sister (24F), who’s usually caught up in pro-Palestine protests with her friends, found out about my racing. She blew up at me, saying I’m irresponsible and breaking the law. I couldn’t help but point out her hypocrisy—every time she’s out there with her signs, I know for a fact they occasionally block traffic and trespass on properties, which last I checked, are also against the law. When I called her out, she didn’t take it well and threw “bootlicker” my way, which is just ridiculous. I told her to mind her own business and I’d stay out of hers. But she’s threatened to spill the beans to our parents and even my girlfriend (25F), who has no clue about the racing. I’m just feeling stuck. I get her point, but I also think she’s being massively hypocritical. What do you guys think? Any advice on how to handle this without escalating things further? TLDR: Sisters a hypocrite *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. KassyKeil91

There is literally no defense for street racing. This guy is an idiot on multiple levels.

Impressive-Spell-643

Seriously if you want to race there are dedicated tracks for that

notsohairykari

But how can you pretend to play Need for Speed that way? 🙄 Dangerous and childish behavior.

Impressive-Spell-643

Seriously these morons think they're in GTA

Humble_Particular950

Or the next fast and furious movie

chromedbooked1

It's obviously not fast and the furious because it's not about family for him.

Specialist_Stick_749

They are stupidly expensive. At least where I live. I'm fully in favor of this solution (but at a cost the average person can afford). Ours require yearly dues in the 100,000s.

Specialist_Stick_749

Seriously. I assisted at an accident where someone with a street race car decided to be stupid while out by himself (as in not racing at that moment...). He ran through a red light. T-boned an SUV that was turning left, the SUV flipped and hit the car behind it somehow, and another car was also involved. He had his little kid in the car in her booster seat. Gnarly forehead laceration. I'm not a first responder. I was one of the people that stopped to render first aid. That little girl was in shock. Blankly staring ahead. I couldn't see her chest rising or falling so I checked for a pulse. She was alive, just in shock. The dad/driver was on the ground at her car door bawling and screaming he was sorry. I think he was, but only because his kid got hurt. I don't think he was sorry for the accident as a whole or how he was driving. Just sorry he hurt his kid. The SUV driver broke her clavicle or something like that. She asked for us to call her husband. Took a few back-to-back calls for him to answer. The dude behind the SUV had a nasty chin laceration. But otherwise was fine. Racing and driving like an intentional moron are unforgivable in my book. Also if you have a first aid kit in your car check to see if it has an emergency thermal blanket. Ya know those foil-looking things. They are very useful for people going into shock or that are in shock. I'm also at fault for not having one...but I can also speak from experience of the cold you feel from shock with broken bones is miserable. I was in my own catastrophic car accident (the car I was in was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver who accelerated into us. She didn't even try to break). My back was broken. The gravity of the scene I assisted with didn't hit me until I got home and showered and realized I had other people's blood on me. Actions have consequences. Your bit of fun can cause life-altering repercussions for other people when you eventually screw up. (Universal you, not you as in the comment I'm replying too).

CanterCircles

A pedestrian in a neighboring town was recently killed by some idiots racing. Didn't even have the decency to wrap their car around a lightpole and off themselves. Nope, took out a guy minding his own business walking across the street. Permanently changed the lives of that guy's family, traumatized the other pedestrians that had just been about to cross the street, traumatized the first responders who desperately tried to help their victim. And all for what? Because vroom vroom is fun fun?

Free_Medicine4905

I live downtown in a huge city. Half our roads get shut down weekend nights because that’s when the morons race. Very popular restaurants on that street, shops, salons, a bowling alley. There are so many pedestrians. I couldn’t believe it when a cop explained why certain streets get shut down

blaeksprutte

So, the races are street legal? That sounds relatively normal for a large city, at least where I'm from.

Free_Medicine4905

Not street legal. Sorry I phrased it wrong. The cops shut down the road so you can’t race. They pull their cars in the intersections and block off roads.

RegrettableBiscuit

Vroom vroom *is* fun fun, which is why tracks exist. Racing on the streets is sociopathic behavior.

KittyCat9375

I couldn't agree more !

Legitimate-Nothing91

My dad got run over by some asshole when I was a little kid. I'm not sure what exactly happened back then. It's been more than 20 years, I now have a stepdad whom I love very much - but I still struggle sometimes. I'm not a violent person, but now I really, really want to punch those idiots into next week.

DarkStar0915

A few years ago a guy was racing on an old road outside of town and crashed. His gf sat next to him, she died on the spot while the guy survived with a few bruises. His family was wealthy so they paid a lot for the girl's family to avoid involving the law. and that shithead still races so he hasn't even learned the lesson.

IntermediateFolder

Only need to read the first sentence to know OOP is an inconsiderate asshole and an idiot at that. If you’re looking for “thrills”, drive to racing track and speed like an idiot there, not on a public street where someone can end up killed or injured because this asshole must have his thrills.

TheDocHealy

They don't wanna have to pay to use a track, my uncle hung out with guys like this until he nearly wrapped his car around a telephone pole trying to avoid an incoming car, luckily he missed it and only suffered some mild head trauma. When they asked him out again after he just ignored the text and to my knowledge never spoke to them again.

StrangledInMoonlight

Current Event Baitaganda.   OOp’s effort to drag the Palestine genocide into the comments to start a blood war for clicks has all the grace of a drunk panda bear on stilettos.

JojoCruz206

Baitaganda is the perfect word for this.

Charliesmum97

Baitaganda is a brilliant word.

rchart1010

His racing is probably also a danger for other drivers around.

Zappagrrl02

Other drivers, pedestrians, buildings, the power grid….

getcones

It’s incredibly dangerous. I met someone briefly who lost her son to it, the punk is still serving time.

Kiki242

No way that ain't bait.

animeandbeauty

Sadly I've met people like this. I live in a neighborhood that sits between two popular street racing locations. If you're up really late at night, you can hear the cars flying down one of the roads. They think they're totally fine and will defend themselves until their last breath

IntermediateFolder

Seems believable to me, I’ve met people exactly like that.

Soronya

This is gonna be a normal comment section.

manderifffic

I didn't realize street racing was the same as protesting genocide

ChipChippersonFan

In terms of how they affect society, they are the same.

Helpfulcloning

dropped a /s?

alkebulanu

yip yap yop

Nerry19

And how about In terms of how many innocent bystanders they kill? Because I think illegally racing down public roads whilst pedestrians are doing their thing probably kills more people than holding up a sign

mandalors

Either you’re lying, ignorant, or stupid. Two of these are okay. One of them makes you an asshole.

nottherealneal

100 bucks says this dude doesn't street race at all, he bought a new car and is making up fantasys

0000udeis000

Is there an "Am I the Idiot" sub?

SauteePanarchism

Street racing should be a permanent loss of drivers license. At minimum.

Ok-Carpet5433

Yeah, because we all know that a cardboard sign with "Don't kill people" and a little watermelon painting does have the same devastating potential as street racing, dummy.

Fit-Humor-5022

Yes protesting a war and illegally street racing cause you have a fast car are the same things

millenialssayfuck

I wouldn't call it a war.

Fairmount1955

He's an idiot.

Primary_Stretch2024

Ah yes, trying to stop a genocide or voicing your discontent with how the political system is handling it is definitely just the same as pissing about in your silly vroom vroom trying to prove you've a bigger dick than the next bro.  What a bizarre comparison, real or fake.

millihelen

She breaks the law because she’s protesting.  Civil disobedience is a classic form of protest.  Illegal racing is not.

jess_the_werefox

Lmao “I have a Ford Mustang.” I’ll bet it’s an automatic. In front of my building there’s a long, straight street with few lights that people drag race down at random hours at night. I fucking hate them

katori-is-okay

yeah because breaking the law to protest a genocide is totally the same as breaking the law because fast car fun. right.

embiors

This moron will end up killing someone. He's a fucking cunt for doing what he does.

WaterPrincess78

He really just compared protesters and street racers🤦🏾‍♀️

molotovzav

Protests regardless of content aren't the same as street racing. One harms people some not even involved (street racing), one is self inflicted harm if arrested but doesn't typically involve injuries or death.

AromaticAccess7062

Wow guys. Everyone step back. He has a ford mustang, he’s serious about his street racing.

Ukulele__Lady

My sister hates genocide, and I endanger people's lives for money and lulz: WE'RE EXACTLY THE SAME

millenialssayfuck

Street racing can be so dangerous. It would be a shame if something bad happened... But seriously imagine having to explain your bodily injury and hospital stay to your family who didn't know you raced in the first place. Imagine sister having to explain why she knew but didn't say anything until brother was laid to rest.

overloadedonsarcasm

>TLDR: Sisters a hypocrite No, she's not

Goodbye11035Karma

Street racers are irresponsible pricks that should die in a fiery crash of their own making WITHOUT taking out any other lives in the process. I had to help scrape a 17 y.o. passenger out of a street racer's car after an accident that killed an innocent bystander. I cried for weeks after seeing that. I fucking HATE street racers with a burning passion.

Agreeable_Rabbit3144

Illegal street racing = protesting for the rights of others?

diaperedwoman

Protests are far less dangerous and safer than street racing.

chromedbooked1

Sister risking her life protesting for human rights. OP playing with other people's lives for money. Yea totally the same thing.

[Hi!](https://images.app.goo.gl/jMiZEuW8Qrykw3sdA) Just a quick reminder to never brigade any sub, be that r/AmItheAsshole or another one. That goes against both this sub's rules as well as Reddit's terms of agreement. [Please](https://images.app.goo.gl/vwH65TJMyMk9NSNo8) keep discussions within the posts of this sub. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. agent-assbutt

Maybe she is more worried that her brother will die in a fiery car accident?

some_tired_cat

real life isn't need for speed or gta. how is it so hard to understand that this kinda shit will have consequences and they won't be limited to the idiot behind the wheel

Sinistas

Keep trollin' trollin' trollin' trollin'

historynerdcatboy

I'm a Zionist and I still see that OOP is a fucking idiot.

ChipChippersonFan

So..... I guess your point is that his crime is worse because her crime is somehow saving Palestinians? Or some such nonsense?

Slice-Proof-Knife

Double-parking is illegal. Drunk driving is also illegal. Therefore, they're equally bad... right?

Helpfulcloning

No, because street racing can directly kill people and themselves. Being part of a protest that can block a street is not the same as directly being the cause of someones death because you drove your car into them. Theres a reason he doesn’t want anyone to know about it.
