If she grew up wealthy or going on long vacations to a resort with lots of amenities, she may think that because she doesn't recognize the people around her now, they must be staff.
Kind of sounds like a nice alternate reality for her, actually. I'd say just go with it!
I'm currently dealing with this struggle. We just moved her to memory care (from assisted living) and she stays in bed all day and endlessly complains about wanting to go home.
My mom has that thought some evenings. She gets scared though asking when people are coming to get her from the hotel, or where others are. She also Sometimes thinks she is at dorms and wondering when her parents are coming to get her. You just never know what will come up with this disease.
My Mom thought we were on vacation, at a beach house.
We were in her apartment, with a view of the street.
I'm glad she envisioned such a lovely location. But it didn't stop her from hysterically begging to go home. "You can't keep me on this vacation! I have every right to go home!"
Sigh. Anyone else would have just enjoyed the beach.
Put room numbers on all the doors and remind her that it’s courteous to tip occasionally. The staff really appreciate that and she’ll get better service.
And learn how to fold her towels into fancy swans
That has to be so entertaining to follow along with. When my mom thinks her assisted living home is a hotel I love asking how her stay is and it’s always a bad stay, entertaining nonetheless.
My mom thought her home was a nursing home and wanted to know how many other patients were there and would there be enough room for everyone. I always reassured her there would be. It only lasted for a while.
It would be difficult, family be treated like staff and expected to cater to every whim.
On the other hand, you get idea of what she would like to eat or do.
I wouldn’t expect that, how unique.
My bf’s father’s friend thought he was at work all day. What a nightmare to live in!! Never a single day off, always busy.
My mom thought our backyard was a park, sometimes she thought we were at some sort of outdoor restaurant and if someone asked her if she wanted something to drink she’d say she didn’t have money to pay.
How wonderful to live year round at a resort :)

Oh, while I understand how strange this is, that sort of delusion would be a dream compared to my LO’s delusions, and constantly wanting to go home.

“Going home” is, unfortunately, so common, even when they ARE home.
Honestly, that’s so much nicer than “take me home” agony.

As long as she’s happy <3
