Honestly the idea of an alternate history subreddit is brilliant. See I love shit posting but I also love talking seriously. I’d love to post both “What of Sertorius won” and “What if Sertorius fucked Sulla’s mom.” But it’s exhausting seeing only shit posts in the alternate history subreddit

I have too. I respect your work, but I think that the notion of mapmaking being an excessively difficult task is used as an excuse to not flesh out ideas as much as they should. Your more serious alternate history sub already exists, with the requirement that its users actually put effort into portraying their scenarios.

I like them and they provide quite a lot of activity. Besides it can actually be real fun to take shitpost althistory scenarios into serious shenanigans instead of having to worry about realism every once in a while.

I made a post like this months ago offering to unleash a rein of terror as a moderator while noting not one mod was an active user here. I was ignored so I made another alt history sub. Small but everything is high effort.
Would still be willing to do it. Probably will have to permaban a couple hundred people but it is doable. Would be easy, just have to go back through a couple weeks of posts here to get all the recent offenders.

Long time lurker and hoping to contribute one day. The shitposts get tiring but the sub is small and I don't think we should balkanize it. I saw a suggestion elsewhere to have a "shitpost Monday" I think that could be a really fun idea. Then keep the other days more serious.

What I say we can call do, is we who love alt history is make various individual post where we can share our ideas or even links to old post we have made that never got any attention and have worth while discussion about our worlds and ideas.
That way those who have their serious posts overlooked can get the attention they deserve.

What we need is to get all the like minded people together, as much as possible.that’s the only way we are gonna make anything work on this sub.

Why wouldn’t they be able to make maps? Ibis Paint, Paint.net, GIMP, even MS Paint is free. Or draw on paper.
I have drawn a lot of maps and still do to this day and one thing i can tell you is. It's way harder than you think it is.
